My GMC Sierra 1500 has numerous cracks across the upper dash that have appeared over the life of the vehicle. I attempted to have the dashboard replaced under warranty but was denied. I recently had the passenger airbag replaced due to a recall. The dealership refused to replace the dashboard, and when they replaced the original cracked dashboard, many of the cracked pieces did not line up, leaving the dash looking further damaged. Please force GMC to offer a recall of the substandard dashboard, or replace the dashboard during the replacement of the airbag.
Hello, I was just at mossy GMC in new orleans,la. , where I went to see about getting my recalled airbag ordered and replaced. The service rep told me that when they change out the airbag, most of the time the dashboard cracks even more, where they willbe working, but they will not replace the broken dashboard. I feel that this is totally rediculous! if I didn't have that damage before going into a service center, and now I have damage caused by the service center, I should not be having to pay for a new dashboard out of my own pocket. I feel that a cracked dashboard could compound the severity of a car crash, being said, it could shatter into pieces upon airbag deployment and send shards of dashboard flying at both the driver and their passengers. The shards, could also lacerate the airbags and render them useless. Please help me out with this situation.

A crack suddenly appeared at the corner of my dashboard and the dashboard air bag cover that opens when deployed. I have parked my GMC in the garage every day since I brought it home from the dealer. I use a windshield reflector when parked outside at the market ect. . . I have read on line that there is a major problem with this happening to owners of like GMC's and year mine is a 2013 Sierra 1500. It appeared suddenly for no reason. I feel it can affect the air bags ability to deploy correctly affecting mine or my family's safety if in an accident. I would think gm should repair this issue at no charge to me, it's a manufacture defect.
Takata passenger airbag gm recall n212328780. Gm safety recall letter dated 02/2021 indicating part is not currently available and I will be notified once parts are available. I request, with concern, an investigation be performed on the airbag propellant components for signs of expansion problem which may have caused a crack/split in vehicle dash surface. This complete crack/split is located near upper left corner of recalled passenger airbag/cover. Dash appears to be slightly raised in that area of crack/split. Previous gm recall issued for same dash problem for other model year vehicles?.
The dashboard on my truck is just cracking all over. I continuously clean and use sun shades for it. This is a product defect that needs to be corrected.
The dashboard has cracked in several places, and I believe, it is going to effect the air bag system and dashboard wiring, which could lead to the passenger air bag not deploying or engine stalling at speed because of pieces of dash falling into the wires.
Cracked dashboard on passenger side at left back corner of airbag cover. The vehicle ha 56k miles on it. Garage kept.

Antenna has cracked seal and moisture got in and shorted out navigation & on star. Bulletin for problem with same year, make & model but not VIN. Refuse to fix. Claim its not a safety issue. Not a great statement to make to a first responder who has saved lives by someone using on star. No more gm's for this family and we have 3 currently and was looking to replace one next month. Not a Ford person so looks like a ram in our future. Not a safety issue . . . . Really gm !!!!!!!!.

I received notice that there are two recalls out for my truck: a brake system recall and a forward camera/collision recall. Had both recalls performed and immediately the forward camera collision alert, lane keep and intellibeam systems didn't work. Delaer informed me there is a problem with the update and I need a new camera. That is on order and pending. More importantly, about 2 days after the updates the truck showed alerts about the brakes, traction control and stabilitrack systems. Upon driving the truck the power/vacuum assist system failed and the brake pedal nearly went to the floor before engaging brakes; I could barely stop. Returned the truck to the dealer and was told its a common issue with the brake recall update (the truck had no such symptoms before the update). If you check out various gm vehicle owner forums you will see scores of silverado and sierra owners with the same two issues post-update: no collision camera and sudden loss of brakes. There is a problem - a very dangerous problem - with these updates.

Cracks on upper hard plastic dash panel just to the left of the passenger air bag. Worried that if the bag deploys it will cause hard plastic shards to fill the passenger compartment. Another crack has developed just to the left of the steering wheel in approximately the same place. Had this also happen on a 2009 GMC yukon which we have since sold.
What happened to the yukon a/c issue happened to me. What would it take to make sure the sierra has the same recall as the yukon? "yukon and yukon xl vehicles, may have a condition where thermal cycling on the combination transmission fluid/oil and ac condenser cooler creates a crack that may allow refrigerant to escape. This condition consequently may deactivate the ac system which may cause potential customer annoyance. ".

The dashboard is cracking by passenger airbag and I feel like this could be a safety concern for the passenger if I got into a crash.
My dash had 4 cracks in it. The part covering the passenger air bag is very in safe.
My 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 (approximately 45,000 miles) had a defect that caused the ac system to crack and leak refrigerant, lose pressure, and fail to properly function. When I took my vehicle to a certified gm service center on 4/11/19, three other similar vehicles (make/model/year) were experiencing the same issue. Upon conducting further research I found that this issue is widespread amongst similar year GMC sierra and Chevrolet silverado 1500 pickups. So much so that some areas are experiencing ac condenser replacement part shortages. My vehicle was no longer under warranty and gm refused to assist with the over $1,200 repair bill.
I have a crack on dashboard along the instrument panel side and at the passenger side airbag. I'm worried about the safety of the airbag deployment.
Dash is cracked in the "common place" for these vehicles. Corner above the instrument panel and at the passenger side airbag, the transmission is also a issue, the 3/4 gear packet has went out and the housing inside the transmission is cracked, so it would've broke soon also.

Cracked dashboard effecting airbag on passenger side. Vehicle stationary at residence in driveway.
Dash is cracked on drivers side and on the passenger side at corner of passenger side airbag.
Dash is cracked in several places, especially around passenger airbag, possibly creating shrapnel in an accident.
The dash has cracked at the corner of the passenger side air bag and another crack has formed above the instrument cluster on the driver side. Both cracks have formed in the last 6 months beginning with the one at the passenger side air bag. The truck is in great condition with only 55,000 miles at this time.
I had a crack in the windshield and when they replaced it the technician said it was so rusted from the inside that if anything happened again they would not replace it he had to really do some work arounds he said to even replace this one. That makes me feel that this is a real safety issue if we were to get in a serious accident. There is no rust on the outside around the windshield at all. So I was very surprised when the technician told me that.

My dashboard is cracking/cracked on my 2013 GMC sierra. Getting worse and worse. I have noticed similar complaints online. A lot of them. Looks to me like a manufacturer defect. Therefore, I am filing this complaint.
Dash board is cracking around passenger airbag and airbag light is now on.
I got under the truck to change the oil then I noticed a crack in the frame where the cross member is. Cross member runs across frame support.

Dash cracked above steering wheel. Only 29000 miles and always garage kept. Truck in excellent condition. Original owner. Appears to be poor quality materials. Concerned this could effect airbags.
Dashboard behind the I strument clusrer and by the passenger air bag is cracked. Could cause flying dash pieces in an accident with air bag deployn ment.
Driver side door handle quit working, this is a known issue with the GMC Sierra 1500. I have been to the dealer thinking a quick and cheap fix,was floored to find out on that year and model it was a common occurrence, and out of pocket would cost $475. 00 parts and labor, the parts man told me it was a bad design flaw. I asked if there was a recall on this because it's a safety issue, was told no. I got this truck new and as to date have had to replace the dash, because of cracking around airbag, done under warranty, and replaced outside door handle on rr door, now the door won't open from the inside on drivers door. ,unless I roll down window and open from outside,my truck has 23,000 miles on it. Everything still looks new. I feel this is an issue that GMC should address,I would pay the labor, if they supply the part. The whole interior door has to be replaced as it is one unit. This is unfair to consumers ,installing deffective parts, and should be replaced at GMC's expenses, not the consumers.
Like so many others, my truck is not very old and has been blowing hot air for months. It appears to be the same condenser issue as reported by hundreds if not thousands more. After discovering this is chronic issue and ac delco * discontinued the original condenser * issued tsbs for the condenser which include a bracket to help prevent the issue (TSB pit5331 / oct 2014) (TSB pie0340 / may 2015) neither of these were either applied to my vehicle or were not effective in preventing the issue. It seems obvious that this is a defect in materials and workmanship based on their issuing of these tsbs and failure to recall these vehicles under warranty. They've apparently operated a blatant "let's wait and see" campaign, hoping those of us that didn't catch this under warranty will fall out of warranty as I have. Several law firms have initiated class action suits against gm in regards to this, but it seems like that's a good chance to get lawyers rich and not get my truck fixed, or get a check for $9. 99. . . As a summary - my truck began blowing warm air last fall, but I didn't recognize it as an issue as the weather was also turning cool and I wasn't using the a/c. Ac/delco and general motors knows this is chronic and avoidable issue the faulty parts have been replaced when the products fail under warranty no effort has been made to replace the knowingly faulty parts.
Dash cracked by passenger airbag and driver side as well.
