When I press on the brakes, it feels as though the master cylinder is gone and it is the manual type drum brakes that has air in the line. It takes everything I have to press them and pray it stops!! the vehicle is always in motion when detecting this problem and seems to occur more repeatedly if the brakes are pump quickly in succession before applying brakes or when the brakes are pressed for an extended amount of time then you release and repress it want stop. Another issue is my lane id warning. When turned on at the button, it just beeps at me and shows service light. When I first took it in with the problem, the dealership called me and said all fixed, but it did it before I left the parking lot. They had my truck all day for the issue, put me out of a vehicle and then said they would need for extended time to repair but didn't know there was problem. How do you make that determination when you told me its repaired. I just turned it off and haven't used in 2 years.

March 2017, at 10,881 miles I accelerated to pass a car, lost power, like it suddenly went into neutral. I tried several gears, multiple times, before being able to finally get the manual gear to get me home. Local dealership cleaned up the transmission of broken metal parts. 2,500 miles later, I tried to accelerate after turning into a long driveway, again no power. I tried several gears as before and the manual gear got me to the house. The engine was working and rpms revved, and just like before, felt like it was in neutral. Dealership went above and beyond to try to duplicate the problem. They even checked my truck for the gm recall #14192, NHTSA campaign id # 14v374000, because it was having the same issues. I think that the broken parts found the first time was an incidental finding due to the fact that the problem has happened twice. During all this there has been small electrical issues weak sounding buzzers when I open the door, internal lights either staying on or not coming on at all, and intermittent issues with remote start. My husband bought this truck brand new in March 2016, 6 weeks before he died, so this truck has a lot of sentiment, however, I am very concerned that this truck is unsafe. The fear of being t-boned in an intersection, or suddenly losing power in 70mph traffic is terrifying! I am moving from SC to wyoming in 6 weeks and am scared to death I am going to have problems. I have reported this to the gm complaint dept. Service case # 83120854028. The only paperwork I have are the service records from the local gm dealership.
Rear passenger door will only lock/unlock manually from the inside. I have been told the problem is a failed door lock actuator. It will not lock/unlock with power lock button or key fob and there is no keyhole except on drivers door. This is my second GMC vehicle that has had the same problem and after searching the internet this seems to be a fairly common problem and I am trying to figure out why it has not been recalled or GMC has not been forced to fix the problem. Wouldn't you consider a door that does not lock/unlock the intended way a safety issue?.

The large 8" intellilink radio screen in this truck has separate brightness control from the rest of the dash lights, including the instrument panel. Due to it's size and colored background, the lcd radio screen is much brighter than the rest of the interior lights. The fact that the system has no night scheme, meaning it doesn't shift to a mostly black background at night makes this problem even worse. While it is possible to lower the brightness using a dash-mounted dimmer switch, the dimmer must be lowered to minimum in order to get the radio screen to be a comfortable brightness level for night driving. At this point, the instrument cluster lights are so dim as to be extremely difficult to see and as a result require much more time and effort to read speed information. The only way to completely turn off the radio screen is to go through several menus into settings and manually turn off the screen. Not only is this a dangerous distraction while driving but if any vehicle setting such as radio volume, or hvac controls are adjusted, the screen automatically turns back on and the process must be repeated. I have contacted gm several times about this issue due to its distracting nature when driving at night and have been told repeatedly that the system is "operating as designed. " I feel this is a safety issue since the bright light in the cab ruins night vision while also distracting the driver's eyes from the road. My recommendation is for a software update for the intellilink/radio system to be designed to add a brightness setting in the system menu to allow driver's to set the radio screen brightness independently of the instrument cluster lights and to also program a "night mode" color scheme that would shift from the blue illuminated background used in the daytime to something that is mostly black.

The vehicle is a 2008 GMC Sierra 1500. The drivers side door locked automatically when the vehicle was put into drive. Once I had arrived at the destination the drivers side door would not open and I was not able to exit the vehicle as a result. I attempted to use the electronic lock to re-lock and unlock the door and this had no success. Attempted rolling down the window and opening the door with the outside latch which also had no success. Tried manually locking and unlocking the door and nothing appears to allow this door to be opened using the inside or outside door latches. I had to exit the vehicle using the passenger side door which opened as it should. Neither inside or outside door latches functioned. I believe this to be a manufacturers defect and this should be put on a recall list and the resolution should be provided at no cost to the owners of this vehicle.
