Failure Date: 09/04/2008

The contact owns a 1999 GMC Sierra 1500. While attempting to stop the vehicle at a low rate of speed, the abs engaged and the vehicle could not be stopped until the brakes were disengaged, engaged, and pumped. On September 4, 2003, at 46,663 miles, the failure occurred, but only one sensor was replaced at that time. On September 20, 2004, at 54,318 miles, the failure recurred and a second sensor was replaced. A recall was issued and the vehicle was repaired accordingly on February 21, 2006, in which both sensors were replaced at 58,869 miles. On March 3, 2006, the contact retrieved the vehicle, but it had been crashed into the wall. The mechanic replaced the front passenger side hub, which was claimed to have caused the crash. The front end of the vehicle was poorly repaired. In March of 2008, the abs failure recurred and the contact took the vehicle to be repaired again, but was informed that it was no longer under warranty. The contact disconnected the abs. Failure Date: 09/22/2006

: the contact stated while backing the vehicle out of a parking space, a humming noise was heard. While driving the vehicle 50 mph, the noise continued. The contact determined the humming noise was the brake module pump running and disconnected the pump until the vehicle could be taken to the dealership. After the engine was turned off, the humming noise continued. The dealership confirmed the humming noise was coming from the brake control module and there was either a faulty electronic computer relay in the brake module or in the valve body of the brake module. Failure Date: 02/02/2006

: the contact stated while traveling various speeds on dry normal road conditions, the antilock braking system activated and pumped continuously when the brakes were applied. Shortly after, the abs warning light illuminated. The failure occurred while cruising. There were no warnings prior to the incident. A NHTSA recall regarding the speed sensors, was performed two weeks prior to the incident. The contact planned to file a complaint with the manufacturer after filing a complaint with the NHTSA. Updated 1/19/2007 -.

6 Brake Antilock Control Unit/module problem of the 2000 GMC Sierra 1500

Failure Date: 10/10/2005

1-I noticed brake failure at slow stopping speeds and the abs warning light stayed on. 2- this caused a few close calls as far as almost hitting structures or vehicles directly in front of me. 3-took to the dealer and was told it was the wheel speed sensor located in the wheel hub and replaced at a cost of $500. 00 plus . Also found out that this is a recall for east coast only recall # NHTSA id # 05v379000. Because this is a defective part on east coast I feel it should apply to my vehicle as well even though I'm on the west coast.
