I first noticed the problem when I was backing down the ramp to launch my boat. Generally I can lightly touch the brakes and the truck will stop immediately. But this time it did not and I had to pump my brakes multiple times before it finally came to a stop. I was quit alarmed but kinda blew it off. The truck had traveled about six feet further than I had anticipated. About a week later I stopped to go through my gate at my farm and when I drove through the gate which is on a slight hill decline it happened again. I went to touch the brakes to stop and ended up pumping the brakes violently in order to get the truck to stop. This time I traveled about seven or eight feet before coming to a full stop. After this incident I was convinced to take it to the dealership. It occurred once more during that time. The dealership said it was a malfunction in the vacuum pump that works off of the main engine and oil from the engine had contaminated the braking system. I had to have replaced a pump, booster, cylinder, pipe, and fluid for a total of 1266. 33 dollars. That invoice number is 208452. I feel this is a serious safety issue when you think your vehicle is going to stop and it does not. This can cause a panic situation!.

I first noticed the issue on the morning of Saturday, November 10th as I was backing into a parking spot. As I was backing in, I noticed all of a sudden the brake pedal was on the floor and I was about to plow into a curb and threw the truck in park. I didn't think anything of it. The second time it happened was one day later as my fiance and I had just completed a 200 mile drive home. I was pulling into the parking lot at our townhouse complex and as I was pulling forward to back into the space, I noticed I had no braking power whatsoever. I had to throw the truck in park to keep it from hitting a neighbors vehicle. I opened the hood with the engine running, and noticed a ticking noise I hadn't heard before and my brake pedal only had about 1/4" of travel left. I could pull the pedal back to where it is supposed to be but it would just fall back down to the floor. I was able to very slowly and carefully park the truck using park and the parking brake. With the engine still running and the vehicle in park, I depressed what was left of the brake pedal and held it to the floor and heard a moaning noise coming from the area near the master brake cylinder and could feel the brake pedal shuddering under my foot. I feel unsafe driving this vehicle and I was giving no warning of the brake failure. I am having the vehicle towed to sewell Buick GMC in dallas and will update when they find cause. I will also be calling gm customer support as I feel this is a huge safety hazard.
Just did a 4 wheelbrakejob;pads and rotors for thefront, shoes for the rear! had to replace one rear wheel brake cylinder. Started to bleed system, rear brakeline burst, was rusted real bad, replaced the affected line then front line burst and that was rusted real bad also. In checking things over discovered they are all very rusty, afraid if I don't replace them all will have to shortly because they are all in same condition. Note;had to replace transmission lines last year due to corrosion and rust!!!!.

I am an ase master technician, I own an auto/truck repair facility. We are a state of oregon authorized deq repair facility, state of oregon das fleet repair facility, us army base vehicle repair shop and more. Driving my truck to tacoma washington. I was towing a vehicle on in the right slow lane, and "reduced engine power" light came on. Engine vibrated and runs on 1/2 cylinders. Cannot brake or steer, total lack of power. Semi-truck nearly rear ends me as I cannot go over 10 mph. No throttle response, period. I was in road construction zone and everyone was slamming on their brakes to avoid pile-up as I had no shoulder to pull over to. A mile or so later I pulled over, and shut off truck. Restarted few minutes later and cel was on, but reduced engine power lights out. I continued my drive, but now cautiously. It happened 3 more times getting to tacoma, and 5 times returning back to pdx. Now afraid of truck. I finally arrived to my shop the next day and scanned. Codes read maf fail, tps fail. Replaced throttle pedal assy, throttle body with position sensor, wiring to the throttle body, checked grounds, replaced battery and more as stated by gm tech's. Still happens every day. Seems like under low acceleration, engine bucks then cel appears and reduced engine power returns. Gm has no offers or explanations for repairs. I am a certified ase master technician and have never seen or heard of this until I went online to see if this happens to others. This is a major problem with most gm owners in the "fly by wire" type of vehicles. No fixes, no help from gm. This has and is still occurring even today 1/27/2015 with no fixes. Vehicle is being parked until further notice as this vehicle is dangerous to drive. Ase master technician #ow7muoql1stabl.

After being stopped with engire off and emergency brake engaged, started engine, disengaged emergency brake and accelerated. Significant vibration in the rear of the truck. Took vehicle to Chevrolet/GMC dealership and was advised that the rear wheel cylinders were leaking and needed to be replaced after only 43500 miles. This incident followed an issue on 11-29-12 where the throttle position sensor malfunctioned and the engine ran very rough and the truck was difficult to stop.

Complaint on gm exhaust manifold bolt defect, inferior brake/ fuel lines. Mine is a 2005 GMC. Defective exhaust bolts affect 12 million gm trucks from 1999 to 2007. Gm exhaust bolts are to small brittle for securing exhaust manifolds. Bolts snap off causing exhaust leaks. Trucks not passing emissions and dangerous exhaust fumes entering the drivers compartment of the vehicles while driving. I and my family get a carbon monoxide headache when I drive it and have had to pull over to the side of the road feeling like I was going to pass out, open windows and sit until I felt better. I have also had problems getting my truck to pass emissions due to the leaks and the leaks are causing the vehicles to be none epa compliant because of O2 sensor errors resulting in failed emission test. Also brake and fuel lines are not suitable for northern states causing brake failure with out warning, fuel lines are all rusted and swelled in danger of bursting causing fire without warning. Ford and other vehicles I have worked on use stainless fuel lines and look like new for life of vehicle. I have also seen other manufacturers use powder coated brake lines on the entire vehicle and 20 year old vehilces show no rust problems. My 2005 GMC from the rear end brake hose to the wheel cylinders they used powder coated brake lines. Those lines look like new yet. Gm knew the powder coated lines were better why did they use faulty galvanized steel on the rest of the truck? as it is now my truck can't be operated on the road without $3000 in repairs due to gm using poor quality parts. The truck has had these problems for over 5 years now and only has 138,000 miles. Trucks like this in southern states have over 250,000 miles, lines still good. Recall needs to be done. . The rear wheel cylinders are inoperable which cause poor braking when the vehicle is loaded. Please give any further details.
