Thankfully I was in a parking lot, I was backing up and my brake pedal went right to the floor and I had no brakes at all. The brake line on the driver's side front burst. I have my truck at a local shop and its going to cost around $1500 to replace the brake lines. The cost is mostly labor. If loose the front brakes, I would expect the rear brakes to work but that is not the case. I am thankful I was not on the highway or pulling a trailer. I could of got hurt or hurt someone else. Gm needs to look into the quality of parts used in their vehicle especially something as important as brakes.

Brake line failure. I had complete brake line failure while coming to a stop at a busy road. I was lucky I was able to honk my horn and go through the light. I drive this truck almost every day and had this happened on my normal daily commute this could have been a disaster. It is ridiculous that stainless steel lines were not used on such a vital part of the vehicle. Now I am looking at a lot of money to replace all the lines. I do not have a bill to upload at this time as the repair work has not been completed yet.

While operating the vehicle at approximately 45 mph, I was approaching an intersection when I applied the brakes to slow the vehicle. One of the rear brake lines bursted causing me to have to abruptly pump the brake pedal to stop the vehicle. Very dangerous situation as a marked sheriff's vehicle with its emergency lights and siren activated was traveling at a high rate of speed on the intersecting highway that I was approaching. This is a known and prevalent problem that exists with gm trucks and gm is well aware of the issue but denies faulty parts.

Rusted out brake line at 72000 miles. What a disappointment but it doesn't look like I am the only one. Its a shame gm doesn't man up and correct the problem of rusted out brake lines. Luckily I was in front of my house when it failed and not running down the road pulling my 4000 lb. Boat. And yes I have read all the info online about the nhtsb investigating this problem and let gm off the hook by saying owners should wash their cars to remove the road salt that caused this problem. I guess Ford and Dodge owners crawl under their trucks in the winter and do this as there was no investigation on them. By the way I live in TN where winters aren't that bad. And one other thing what marketing buzz saw decided it would be better not to have a split brake fluid reservoir so at least I would have 1/2 of my system, had no brakes front or rear because of this.

Brake lines leaking from corrosion leading to no braking.
I was on my way home running 45 mph in light traffic. When I went to make a left hand turn and my brake pedal went to the floor. Scared the hell out of me. I was able to pump them enough to make the turn and luckily I was only three blocks from my home. I was able to coast it home. I raised the hood and all the brake lines are so rusty. I had my wife step on the brake and you can see one line busted. I checked with dealer and they don't offer replacement parts. You have pay someone to make the lines for you.
Turning into an auto parts store, from the highway, when I applied the brakes the pedal went clear to the floor. My truck slowed but not enough if anyone walking or a car had been there I would have hit them. I was very lucky. Of the four brake lines one burst, two were seeping, but not dripping and the rear line was almost as bad as the other lines and its a wonder it didn't break at the same time. Going home I would have gone down a very steep hill with a stoplight and a very busy intersection. It could have been a disaster. This is a low mileage truck, seldom driven in snow.

Pulling out of driveway and brakes gave out. . Stepped on the brakes and truck did not stop. A rusty brake line was leaking. It it had a split in it. Do to rust anand corrosion. This same thing has happened to my father's 03 silverado a few years back. Why has this been an issue with no recall. I had a kia spectra for 15 years and never had problems with rusty brake lines leaking. . . It's a truck they should be built to last. . Smh not happy. .

While driving various speeds, the contact was able to stop the vehicle by using the emergency brake. The failure occurred without warning. The vehicle was towed to the mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brake lines were defective and needed to be patched. The vehicle was repaired; however, this was the third instance of the failure occurring on the vehicle. Wildcat Chevrolet (5525 hopkinsville rd, cadiz, ky) was contacted and confirmed the failure, but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 80,000.
I reside in michigan and the winters here are somewhat bad on vehicles but this is in no way acceptable for gm to get away with. I was out of town on the 15th of Aug about 80 miles from home and preparing to make a right turn to enter onto the highway when the light turned yellow and the driver/car in front of me stopped suddenly and thankfully proceeded to turn hence getting out of my way because when I applied my brakes their was nothing right to the floorboard, I had known what just happened, ruptured a brake line. I proceeded to make the turn and somehow get the truck to stop while going down the on ramp of the highway. Here is my biggest problem with gm`s brake system. Why when 1 line ruptures all of the rest of the system does not work to at least get the vehicle to stop? once I was able to have a look under the vehicle I noticed all brake lines appear to be steel and in terrible condition, so next question, why are auto company`s allowed to use steel brake lines and not a corrosion proof stainless?? OH, wait to save money for bigger profits and ceo bonus`s. I just can`t believe in this day and age with technology we can`t have an abs system work to where 1 line goes you still have some brakes for the name of safety like on the old classics where each line is independent to each wheel. I`m just very lucky nobody was injured, could you imagine if I was on the highway and this happened at a higher speed??? unbelievable!!!!!.
Right front brake line ruptured when applying brakes in a parking lot. Brake fluid started to leak out from the line that crosses from the driver's side to the passenger's side of the vehicle. It appears the rupture was due to corrosion of the original lines.

Driving to work one morning, I noticed as I approached a stop sign that I had to push my brake pedal further than I had earlier in my trip. Instead of continuing onto the freeway I pulled into a station and tested the brakes only to find that I could push them all the way to the floor and come to a gradual, rolling stop. The truck was towed to a shop where it was found that one of the metal brake lines had rusted through. All 6 lines showed signs of severe rusting. Once the lines were replaced the mechanic told me that a second line had rusted to the point that he did not think it would have held pressure if I had only replaced the first failed line. I was advised that the brake lines in this model and year of truck were known to rust and fail early in the life of the vehicle, especially in northern states.
Brake line rusted into other lines are rusty also truck had been kept in garage for at least 6 years only drove on beach maybe 5 times always washed off afterwards. Lines should have been s/s.
Brake lines failed on my 2007 GMC 1500 and my 2007 GMC 2500. It appears to be a common problem with GMC vehicles from 2003 to 2009. Why wasn't these vehicles recalled for this. I was told that GMC was offering a discounted price for failed brake lines, but the dealer charged me full price. $1,667. 00. The discounted price was supposed to be $500. 00.
We were traveling west on 495 heading to georgetown hospital in DC taking a friend for her weekly kidney transplant checkup from baltimore MD. The traffic had slowed to a stop as I hit my brakes and they went to the floor with minute stopping power . Had I been in the next lane over it would have been a wipe out as I would have rear ended the stopped traffic. I was in the curb lane and got into the shoulder. Brake lines are totally corroded, rusted and just crumbling. . I noticed gm knows about the problem but refuses to do anything. Will they wait until a fatality happens before they warn the public of this problem. . Many of these vehicles still on the road. .

Complete brake failure. All brake lines rusted out. Had to use the emergency brake to stop. Brake pedal went all the way to the floor. All the brake fluid was gone. Spent $1008 to fix the vehicle. No previous warning, no message until there was the complete brake failure.
Brake peddle went to floor. Had to down shift and use emergency brakes to stop. Found brake line had corroded left front along chassis.
Brake lines rusted out and caused truck to not be able to stop and almost caused an accident. First line went about 2 months ago and was repaired. I assumed that this was a singular incident and the repair was fine, and I would have no other problems. Now, a different brake line went. Same exact problem. . . Rusted out appears that all of the lines are at issue and all of them must be replaced. I was lucky as I had just come off the interstate highway where I was doing speeds of 70mph and relying on my brakes as would be normal. Just as I got off the highway and pulled into work, the line blew out completely and my pedal went to the floor. I had no brakes at all. . . Nothing. Luckily, I was in the parking lot, and going slow enough and I thought quickly and used my emergency brakes and stopped. Had the brake line gone out just two minutes earlier, or about two or three brake pedal presses before, I would have been in a serious accident.

The brake lines are rusted so badly it will not pass it's next va state inspection. This truck has only been driven 74000 miles. Can this be normal? I am a disabled vet with limited income and can not afford the cost of replacement. There is also more than normal rust of the suspension and other parts under the body. I believe this has gone on too long and a recall is necessary.
My 15 year old son driving with me in the passenger seat he has a learners permit applys the brake and it went to the floor not being able to stop properly swerves and avoids a collision with limeted brakes I took over and made it home buy the time I got home I had no brakes and no brake fluid I was releived to make it. I work on cars for a living and never replaced brakelines do to rusting out. There will be a fatality if gm dont fix there problem. I dont live in where it snows very often my couny has 2 salt trucks and my roads I drive dont get salt ,we havent got snow besides a dusting in three years. So to say its trucks in the north is a false statement. I bought a ss aftermarket brake line set I will install it myself . I know it will be labour extensive but it has to be done thanks for letting me vent thanks to you you for reading my complaint.
