The speed of the truck will not increase. The rpms goes really high and the truck will not move into the next gear. The rear end of truck vibrates. I took this to the dealer and was told it is the transmission fluid is faulty. The check engine light does come on. I did not have the new transmission fluid changed because dealer said is cost $300 for the fluid and $100 for the labor and $168 for the diagnostics. So I still have the same problem. Also told you can not purchase this transmission fluid no where but GMC.

On may 26, 2020, my 2017 truck's check engine light appeared. Vehicle is in original manufacturer's warranty with 25,000 miles, + or -. Truck driven infrequently during "stay-at-home period. Took to GMC dealer immediately; read code; indicates all 8 fuel injectors out of tolerance. Can't explain why or provide impact to vehicle if driven in this condition. Can't be driven; dealer provided loaner. Can't advise if vehicle's engine will cut-of if driven causing unknown issues. Fuel injectors are on back order-no estimate of receipt date! another 2017 GMC truck there with same issue-been there for longer period. Gm will not advise dealer when fuel injectors will be received. Delay possibly associated with gm strike or virus. If two or more vehicles have problem, is pattern or practice-a systemic issue. Gm customer assistance can not provide information. Difficult to contact gm corporate offices for assistance. Today is three weeks without my vehicle, which I need. Gm is not providing adequate (any) information to its dealer. This out of tolerance fuel injector situation has been noted on gm owner websites; it is not unusual.

The contact owns a 2019 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact stated that while driving 45-65 mph, the brake pedal was hard to depress. The steering wheel was difficult to turn. The abs and check engine warning lights were illuminated. The check engine message, power reduced, and brake system failure-service esc messages were displayed. The vehicle was taken several times to brown automotive group (4300 s georgia st, amarillo, TX 79110, (806) 353-7211) to be diagnosed. Several codes were reset and an unnamed wire was replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 15,520. Invalid VIN.
While driving on highway check engine light came on and lost power. Also started to hear tapping coming from engine. Had it checked by mechanic. Found code p0306 cylinder 6 misfire. Checked gm truck web site and noted service bulletin noting valve lifter failure, but no recall. Bulletin states that lifter can fail causing misfire and taping in motor. Also states during repair to check cam shaft for scoring & damage. Also checked several gm & chevy car form websites, and noted multiple complaints about same issues as well as several near accidents because of loss of power while driving. There are also several youtube videos of issues with this motor and valve lifter failure. This happens because cylinders shut down during cruising. Lifters that fail have a spring attached that fails causing the misfire and scoring to cam shaft. Gm is aware of issue but fails to issues a recall for repairs to this motor. This is a hazard and could cause an accident. Repairs should also be covered by gm as this is a common problem with this motor and they are aware of it with their in house service bulletin to service managers. This issues can happen and be covered by service warranty, but not covered when out of warranty. Bulletin also goes on to state how to write it up if covered by powertrain warranty.

At around 100,000 miles, the check engine light would come on and indicate low oil pressure. Changing the sensor out did not effect the situation. Changing the oil would help but usually only for around 3,500 miles. The engine was losing oil more than it should. Then at around 129,000 miles, the truck starting shaking because of the engine and the check engine light came on. It was determined to be a cylinder 7 misfire. Changing the coil pack, spark plug, and spark plug wire did nothing. It was determined that the engine was irreparable and needed replacing. Upon research, it appears that this is a fairly common problem among 2008-2012 gm engines with the afm system. Gm should absolutely issue a recall and repair these defective engines or otherwise reimburse the owners for the repairs.

When driving recently, my check engine light started flashing along with my stabilitrak light coming on. The vehicle started vibrating. The vibrating was especially rough while idle. The vibration was also rough while in lower gears and while braking. When brought in for service I was told it was a corroded ignition coil. This is the second time this has happened. I bought the vehicle new and it currently has about 37,000 miles on it.

Collapsed afm lifter at 108000 miles. I was driving down the highway and all of the sudden my check engine light came on, service traction control and service stabilitrak. My engine was idling rough at low rpm. Took vehicle to the dealership and was told that it had a collapsed lifter on the #6 cylinder. I have always had the oil changed regularly at the dealership. Was told it would be 4800 to replace all the lifters, 5300 if the cam was bad also and 7300 for a new engine.

Started truck up and let idle for two minutes. Upon take off, the traction control light came on and was immediately followed by the check engine light with a message stating engine reduced power. The truck then begins to run very rough and when the brakes where applied it violently and uncontrollably lunged forward. I pulled off the road, turned off the engine, and waited a minute or two. Upon restarting the engine, the check engine light came on but the reduced power message and traction light where gone. After sitting at a light for a few seconds, the symptoms where back, nearly causing me to rearend the vehicle in front of me. I pulled over again, turned off the engine for a minute, restarted and the same results as before occured. Now this happens every time the truck is running and sits in the same spot for more than two or three minutes.
Driving only 20 mph in the process of stopping. Check engine light came on. Very difficult to stop. Engine ran very rough. After stopping the vehicle would only accelerate up to approx 25 mph. Stopped again and turned off engire. Re-started engine and was able to drive to a Chevrolet dealership with the check engine light still on. Dealership replaced sensor ki.
The contact owns a 2009 GMC Sierra 1500. The contact was driving 65 mph when the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle began to decelerate independently. The vehicle would not accelerate any further until the engine was shut off and restarted several moments later. The vehicle was taken to the dealer twice for the failure but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was contacted but offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 12,300.
