Purchased new Yukon denali xl on 3/19/05. Initially my husband and I noticed the seat position memory was faulty. Problem was minor did not report it. Replaced the head lights every 2 months ~ drove us crazy but we did not complain. Less than 8 months paint on the console and accessory buttons peeled. Finally on 3/2/07 I was driving to work and got a transmission hot message. Furious and concerned I drove straight to the dealer for assistance. Later that day I find out that my less than two year old truck costing about $50,000 needed a new radiator and coolant system, replaced radiator hoses upper and lower, heater hoses, replaced coolant jug, replaced thermostat, replace bypass hose and truck needed an extensive engine block cooling flush, further indicating that the transmission and radiator fluid mixed - totaling $2,100. Truck was in the shop on 1/12/07 for regular scheduled maintenance, which included inspection of the radiator, coolant system and hoses. On 3/6/07, called to check on my truck to find out that there was slight damage to the transmission; however, the advisor stated " I would not get the transmission replaced right now, just begin a service for a new vehicle" just the words you want to hear after wasting your money on a luxury SUV. I contacted GMC customer care and they indicated there are no recalls on the issue. After doing an in depth online search I am now aware that many people have had the same problem. GMC as well as the dealer act as if it's not a big deal so owners have not pressed the issue. Many owners state that they are not interested in the run around so they get the car repaired and don't pursue the issue. This matter needs immediate attention and possible recalls. No automobile should have transmission / radiator/ coolant/ electrical (head light) /memory malfunction or cheap interior issues within 2 yrs. GMC needs to step up to the plate and except responsibility for their poorly manufactured Yukon denali.

Vehicle gets extremely low gas, 13 mpg on average. Burns oil . Need to add 2-3 quarts of oil between oil changes. Engine cooling fan stays on for extended periods while driving. All of which the dealership says is normal for the truck. They removed the driveshaft because of clunking at 25k mi. Reaction carrier replaced and transmission reconditioned at 36,663 mi after car stopped in the middle of the street. Car had to be towed in. At 62k miles engine light on and idles rough. Replaced throttle body. At 67k won't engage in reverse and makes klunking sound from reverse to drive. Replaced reverse housing, reaction shell, etc. At 75k had a reaction carrier failure, lost power brakes and lost power to the car. Almost was rear ended. Had to stop in middle of parking lot during christmas rush. Waited 5 min and restarted. Engine light stayed on, but was able to get to dealership. Was told that throttle body needs to be cleaned every 15k miles under service maintence. This was the first time I heard this! not really sure why it had to be cleaned, though, just had the throttle body replaced 13k miles ago. It seems that there are major flaws in the design of the engine. Obviously, the dealership has been putting band aids on my problem because they don't know how to fix. I have been very lucky that my family and children have not been in a major accident due to the major flaws in the engine designs. Every time I get my car fixed, the tech assures me that they have fixed the problem. I am really afraid to drive this car with so many close calls. The car is a hazard to drive!.

We purchased a 2004 GMC Yukon xl in September on 2004. The vehicle had a recall notice on the transmission and the dealership did not preform the repair. In on Monday, December 27th, 2004 the transmission blew and the vehicle was sent to a dealership locally, the dealership replace the transmission on the brand new suburban, my concern is that the dealership and gm have an obligation to replace the problem prior to selling the vehicle and the fact that they sold the vehicle knowing the problem existed and did nothing about it scares me. We run a transportation company in the mtns of colorado, had that transmission failed on one of the passes we could have killed several people. The dealerships response was "well that did not happen did it" from rick duncans own mouth. We have decided to file a lawsuite against the dealership and gm due to the nature of this failure in vehicle equipment.
