Dashboard Crack Problems of GMC Yukon - part 2

When we purchased the vehicle approx. 3. 5 years ago, it had a small crack in the dashboard. Last December, it was noticed that the crack had gotten much bigger, and now a second crack has been noted. This is becoming a major safety concern, as the dash may shatter in a front-end collision with airbag deployment. Upon doing research on;ine, I found that I am not alone. There are thousands of reports of similar issues among similar years and models. Please help me keep my family safe by requiring gm to provide a fix or replacement. Thank you!.

Takata recall. The contact owns a 2009 GMC Yukon denali. The contact stated that there was premature deterioration and cracking on the dashboard from the middle to the driver's side. The dealer was notified (bentley Buick GMC, 2120 drake Ave sw, huntsville, al 35805, 1-(256) 536-2475). The manufacturer was notified and stated that the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v381000 (air bags). The remedy and part had not been available since mid may of 2016 pertaining to the air bag recall. The failure mileage was not available. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

Dashboard cracks around instrument cluster and front passenger air bag. My dashboard started to crack a couple or years ago and is now cracked all over. It is also a safety issue. I have tried to stop the cracks in different ways and it just continues. GMC should respond and change the dashboard of these vehicles. I asked the dealer in the last inspection for the repar. It is close to 1300 dollars and GMC does not respond. Clearly this is a quality issue.

The dashboard has cracked in 2 places, 1 in front of the drivers seat, and the other in front of the passenger seat by the airbag. It was already cracked before I bought the vehicle used, but has gotten worse living on a dirt road.

The vehicle has a cracked dashboard which can be a safety feature for the air bags etc. GMC knows they have an issue but won't recall it.

The contact owns a 2013 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked on the front driver's side. The dealer was contacted (days Chevrolet in jasper, GA) and stated that there were many complaints about cracked dashboards. The technician stated that the vehicle was out of warranty. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall for the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 46,990.

Dashboard cracks.

My 2011 GMC Yukon xl denali, dashboard has cracked out of nowhere I got in it one day and it was there I noticed it, up the driver side hump on the dashboard, and beside the passenger airbag, this is a safety hazard what if I get into a wreck pieces of dashboard would go flying everywhere, I have even contacted GMC about this issue and they don't care, I have attempted to glue the dash back together but it's still spreading, the more I drive the vehicle the more it spreads.

Dash is cracked and may cause flying debris upon air bag deployment. Safety issue.

Dash is cracked and airbag is a takata. Gm will not take their responsibility because of corporate greed. When enough people die then they will act. Surprisingly since gm received government assistance you would think they care about people. But they only care about money.

Dashboard has significant cracking in it after only 60,000 miles. Both on passenger side near air bag and above drivers side controls.

There is a large crack in the dashboard. The crack is located over the area over the driver's air bag which is a safety concern. If the air bag would deploy, broken pieces of plastic could harm the driver as the safety features are weakened. Crack occurred when vehicle was parked in a garage. No one , nothing caused the dashboard to crack, it is a defect.

The dashboard has many cracks and has separated in two locations next to the airbag! the vehicle is kept in a garage, well maintained with less than 60,000 miles. My fear is if, there is a front-end collision and the airbags deploy, chunks of the dash will become dislodged and possibly cause more injuries.

My dash keeps cracking one of which is next to air bag! 80k miles.

My dashboard began to crack around the passenger airbag. The cracking was unprovoked. The car is clean, and only has 66k miles on it. In addition, one of the clips recepticals on the dashboard that the upper trim panel connects to broke (in the center part of the dashboard). No in addition to the large crack, the dash board now rattles. I do not have pictures handy during the time of this submitter but I can provide them. 100's of other have also had this problem, there are facebook pages and various pertitions.

Cracks on dashboard. Mine happens to be near the passenger airbag slot. This is occurring to many similar gm vehicles. Doing a web search shows thousands of people having this issue. This was noticed a few weeks ago. The vehicle was parked when it was noticed. I have concerns about the safety of this.

Cracked dashboard. My 2013 Yukon slt (46,000 miles) has a crack in the dashboard directly above the airbag starting at the upper left corner that stretches between the airbag and defrost vents. So far the crack is thin, however it will only get worse over time; if you do research online the older models 2008-9-10-11-12s have severe cracks and holes in the dash so it is just a matter of time. I have done nothing to cause this crack and I have kept the vehicle inside a garage and/or use a sunshade when parked in direct sunlight. This is a safety issue and should be recalled. If I were to be involved in an accident and the airbag deploy, so would shards of the dash and become shrapnel. It is imperative that gm recall all these faulty dashboards and replace free of charge.

I have stress cracks in a faulty dashboard that has had no blunt force. These cracks are located at the instrument cluster, center speaker and another at the passenger airbag. Behind the instrument cluster a portion of the dash has collapsed now. My vehicle has been garaged for most of the time since purchased. Since we bought our new home it has been outside for less than 4 months and the cracks appeared. I now have 4 and collapsed area.

Cracked dash - in the event of airbag deployment, broken pieces of the plastic dash will become projectiles in the passenger area.

"takata recall. Dash is cracked and continues to crack on the passenger side next to the passenger airbag. I'm worried that the dash could splinter in a vehicle crash if the passenger airbag deploys.

I am having issues with the antenna in my truck. The radio is constantly going in and out. My onstar has stopped working completely. My bluetooth drops calls within a few min of taking the call if I can even get it to answer the call. Cosmetically the issues I am having is the dash has a huge crack right behind the steering wheel it goes all the way across to the passenger airbag. If I was to have a front end crash shards of plastic would go flying this is a safety hazard. I just purchased this vehicle about 2 weeks ago 3/11/17 and have had these issues since purchased. Any recommendations are welcomed. Thank you.

Dash is cracked at the corner of the airbag and in front of the instrument panel.

Cracked dash on passenger side near air bag deployment location. Happened overnight with vehicle off and in garage and in moderate temperatures.

Upper dash board cracking severely above the instrument panel as well as the plastic "clips" that hold the dash board in place broken loose. This will be the second time I've had to replace the dashboard (1st time under warranty - broken plastic clips). The crack just suddenly appeared after I heard some rattling in and around the center of the dash board. Didn't notice until there was a 6" crack. Could possibly hinder steering column if plastic pieces from the crack fall into the area. Plastic shards could pose dangerous if accident were to occur. Numerous complaints and concerns online about this issue. Others report cracks by passenger airbag.

Cracking on the interior dash board above airbags and steering wheel. This has started to happen with no specific reason or accident causing it.

Takata gm recall 49151 notification dated July 2016. No corrective action has been taken by gm and now there is a serious crack in the dash which is a growing concern for my safety involving the structure and air bag issue.

One week after purchasing, noticed crack in dash in upper left hand corner of airbag on passenger side. I do not know if this happened while driving or sitting in my garage. Very concerned if this will affect the effectiveness of the airbag or possibly cause an injury in the event of deployment.

Dashboard cracked above instrument panel. I got in my truck, started it up, and heard the dash crack.

I came out to a cracked dashboard this morning. The crack is right around the airbag and I'm concerned the cracked dash can either punture the airbag if deployed or send plastic peices flying at a high rate of speed.

Dashboard has cracked immediately adjacent to airbag and above left side of instrument cluster. Concern for safety upon collision and/or airbag deployment.

Defect caused dash to crack at the passanger airbag, I am concerned about my children being injured from the cracked dash as well as the shards flying and injuring my child if I were to be in an accident.
