1 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 09/17/2020

My vehicle was in the left turn lane waiting for the light to turn green. I went and didnt realize the far right lane was for parking only on a 1 way street left headed east it was a 1 way with 2 lanes moving forward a 1 lane next to the curb where vehicles park in front of there residents. I slammed into the back of the parked white chevy truck. My vehicle came to a sudden stop forcing my body forward towards the windshield. My seatbelt only restrained my body so far so I used my foot to apply the brake. My cars passenger side air bag did deploy but the drivers side did not. My vehicle needed to be towed because it was not drivable. I then later had a friend drive me to the emergency room. I didnt want to go by ambulance due to pandemic in place. About 2 to 3 weeks later I recieved the recall letter in my mailbox. Since the accident I have been unable to work or even daily functions. I have a crushed heel and unable to walk. Sever pain and swelling. My life has completely changed.

2 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/24/2013

While driving the vehicle, the engine will quit completely without any warning or indication of malfunction; it just stops. Sometimes it will start up again immediately, sometimes multiple attempts where it catches for a fraction of a second and stops again have been required over a period of several minutes. Over time, it seemed to become clear that turning the key to the off position instead of attempting a start from acc would almost always result in immediate restart. The issue disappeared over what was a fairly cold winter, but has returned with the warming weather. Total number of occurrences: somewhere around fifty or higher. Sometimes it would happen numerous times the same day, increasingly with increased temperature, and seemed much more prone to occur when the air-conditioning was in use. The repair shop was never able to capture an obd code with its recording device. As a commuter on rural roads, this has been inconvenient but so far not unsafe, but there is a potential for it occurring under adverse traffic conditions that might be unsafe, e. G. , at highway speed with close following traffic on a road with no shoulder. These incidents may or may not be related to two repairs that almost immediately preceded the first occurrence of this problem: 1. The car wouldn't start one day, no electrical output at all was available, though the battery was only a few months old. A local (I. E. , non-dealer) repair shop replace the negative battery cable that grounds the battery to the vehicle. 2. Timing belt replacement was performed a couple of months prior, again by a local repair shop.

3 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 02/22/2010

On Monday, February 22, 2010, I was driving on the highway when the battery, abs and door lights suddenly displayed on the dashboard. The care was driving fine after this but about a mile later, the engine shut off. I noticed the drive belts had come off. Roadside assistance was contacted to tow the car to the nearest location within 15miles. Hence, the car was towed to my destination, then eventually towed to richfield-bloomington Honda where they determined that the crankshaft key was installed incorrectly causing the pulley to be wobbly forcing the belts to come off while driving. Brookdale Honda performed the maintenance repair that has been linked to this incident since the crank shaft bolt was not tightened to the right torque. They are refusing to take responsibility for damage as a result of technician error.

4 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/26/2006

The bolt holding the main crank shaft pulley came loose causing all exterior belts to come off as well as the interior timing belt, sheared the woodruff key, and warped pulley. The engine shut-off because timing was now off on engine and the pistons came up and bent some valves. Now I am out $3,000 dollars in repairs. Per mycarstats. Com, there have been others with similar problems. This bolt/ design assembly came defective from manufacturer because there has never been any work related to this bolt and pulley.

The bolt backed out of the pulley in the engine, resulting in ruined pulley/ bent the crank shaft/loss of power steering/ defective alternator, and air conditioning (a/c) failure. Dealership was surpride. Consumer, had to pay out of pocket for the new pulley.

8 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 09/08/2003

1999 Honda Accord ex (VIN: jhmcg667xxxxxxxxx). Opted not to drive on freeway that evening due to rush hour traffic, took back streets (probably would have been killed on freeway). Suddenly engine started to make loud noises & engine died; lost power steering. Check engine lights & all panel lights came on. Tow truck arrived, driver discovered belts came off & the pulley was broken. Bolt attaching it was sheared off & broken in half, too. Submitted anomaly to Honda corporate (case # n012003-09-1001253)(ph # (800) 999-1009) to review case once our local Honda dealer completes repairs. Corporate Honda offered "goodwill assistance" if case deemed valid enough for them to pay for some if not all of the costs. Have not heard from them yet. Honda dealership noticed pulley was also warped. They have never seen anything like this before. Reported car had 56k miles, but mistaken; should be approx. 65k. I think this is a safety issue and not just "wear & tear"; more like a design flaw or something! we have an 1987 Honda with no problems & its pulley does not even wobble like it is doing now in the 1999 since it has been repaired. It's still on a trial basis for 1 week starting 9/15/2003. To continue further may cost us an add'l $3k out of pocket with no guarantees from the dealership.

9 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 08/07/2003

Driving down the road when the crankshaft pully fell out of the bottom of the engine, resulting in power steeering failure and engine died. The power steering went out, the altenator quit, the water pump quit. Luckily I could coast into a parking lot entrance to get off of the highway. The crankshaft bolt "crystalized" and broke off inside the crankshaft. The timing belt, crankshaft pully and bolt, and the water pump had to be replaced.

Owner of 1999 Honda Accord lx automatic transmission 4-cylinder engine. Approximately 53,000 miles on odometer. Driving when heard noise. Pulled over and lost power steering. Car stopped running. Parked in parking lot. Looked under hood saw belt loose. Had car towed to independent Honda shop. Mechanic states that bolt on crankshaft pulley was never tightened properly at factory, allowing crankshaft pulley mechanism to let belts slip off. Damage done to end of crankshaft needs replacement. 13 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 02/15/2003

My crank shaft pulley bolt broke off damaging my whole engine. Honda estimates it will be approx. 5900. 00 to fix. This is ridiculous since my car is practically new (1999) and I get all my servicing at the dealership!.

14 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2002

1999 Honda Accord lx (VIN: jhmcg665xxc015188) while my wife was driving in a residential area at 25-30 mph (approx), the engine started making clanking noise and engine died. She let it rolled, pulled over and parked on the side of the street. We discovered that the main pulley broke loose and the drive belts came off the rollers due to a broken (sheared off) bolt that attached the pulley to the crankshaft. The car has only 61k miles on it and I thought that it was totally premature. The ball Honda service rep told us that Honda motors CO. Will not cover for the repair since the warranty expired, but this is totally premature I thought, and maybe it was caused by inferior material (bolt) and/or by poor quality workmanship (over-torque'd). The car has had regular maintenance service by Honda dealer and has no previous engine work done except for the mfr recommended regularly-scheduled services.

15 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 12/13/2002

While driving at 30/40 mph, the bolt for the main pulley came off the vehicle, which resulted in the belt becoming loose.

16 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 09/19/2002

On 9/19/02, I was leaving a store when my car started to make a rattling sound. I then lost power steering, all of the warning lights came on and the car stalled. I popped the hood to find that all of the engine belts had been thrown. After two days at the dealership, I was advised the crank bolt (key way and crankshaft pulley) had failed. The Honda dealership (don carlton, tulsa, ok) could offer no explanation as to why it happened, only that I was out of warranty. My repair bill was $536. 61. I also incurred a $57. 34 tow bill to get the car to the dealership.

17 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/08/2002

While driving, the crankshaft/pulley engine broke, causing vehicle to stall out. Almost causing an accident. Consumer also stated that a bolt inside the engine was missing, and some part of the engine was defective which caused the crankshaft pulley to break (all part outside engine).

18 Engine Belts And Pulleys problem

Failure Date: 07/28/2001

Crankshaft bolt appears to be sheared off. That held the pully in place which holds on the timing chain and 2 other belts. I contacted the Honda corporation who was in touch with wilde Honda and was told that there is no defect with the bolt. I have spoken to many other mechanics and they have said that it is most likely due to the factory torqueing the bolt down to tight which may have caused a stress fracture. Wilde Honda also said that it was due to the air intake filter being changed and the tires being worn. I find that hard to believe and have been told that ,thatis highly unlikely. Would you please check into this and let me know if there are any other cases like this. Thank you.
