11 problems related to gas recirculation valve (egr valve) have been reported for the 1999 Honda Accord. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
Upon inspection, the right rear portion of the front sub frame is rusted and disintegrated to a point where the car is not considered safe to operate. The frame section has lost so much material that it flexes when downward pressure is applied to the hub assembly. The left side of the front frame is intact and fully functional showing no similar signs of rust.
The contact owns a 1999 Honda Accord. While pulling into the driveway and before the contact could turn off the vehicle, it shut itself off. Later, while attempting to make a right turn, the vehicle shut off completely. The contact was unable to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the service dealer and they stated that the ignition switch needed to be replaced. The contact stated that he received a recall notice in 2002 for the electrical ignition switch, which could degrade and cause the vehicle to hesitate and/or crash without warning. The manufacturer stated that because the recall repairs were performed once, they would not take responsibility for the repairs a second time. The VIN and NHTSA campaign id number were unknown. The failure and current mileages were less than 109,000.
Defective egr valve on my 1999 Honda Accord. The car was brand new when I purchased it and it only has 96k miles. I am the only owner. It burns oil and no one can determine why. I just replaced 2 valves due to the oil and now my egr valve is needing to be replaced. After reviewing the complaints, there are numerous complaints on the egr valve for a 1999 Honda Accord. It should be recalled based on the number of complaints I have seen.
I wanted to complain because this is the 2nd time within 5 years that I'm having to have my egr port cleaned again which is costly. Also I the same thing with the ignition switch wires, which were recalled and replaced 5 years later also trying to spark a fire. I am still the original owner of my Honda and having the same problem once again about my egr after I paid lots of $$$$$$$$$$. I think somebody need to investigate if the parts only last for 5 years at a time.
Vehicle is experiencing a problem with the egr valve which is clogged. The check engine light continues to keep flashing off/on since last summer. Dealer informed the owner that the egr valve needed to be changed. However, the vehicle was out of warranty. This problem has not been recalled, however, a product update has been imposed. This is directed to those vehicle which came with an 80,000 miles and 8 year warranty. This vehicle is less than 6 years old, but has 95,000 miles.
Transmission slippage. Dealer replaced under warranty with remanufactured transmission.
The "check engine" light came on within days after my 1999 Honda Accord ex v6 had 90k service at a Honda dealership, including a fuel induction service. The first trip back to the dealer resulted in the service department recording the code in their computer then turning the indicator lamp off in my Accord. The "check engine" lamp returned soon after leaving the dealership. On the 2nd visit, the dealership advised that the code indicated the egr valve was clogged. The service manager advised that Honda had extended the warranty for this problem but only for 8 years/80,000 miles. My car has 92k miles yet I was never advised of this known problem. The Honda dealership's own testing during the 90k service did not detect the emission problem and I see that many others with less mileage have experienced the same problem.
Emission valve has been clogged.
Egr valve emissions continously clogs and no one contacted me about the recall. I spent $500 at other mechanics until I was finally told to call Honda.
While the consumer was driving the maintenance needed and check engine lights illuminated, the dealer stated that the egr valve was clogged, consumer is concerned due to the fact that the vehicle passed 2 emissions tests in less than a 4 month period.
Honda has extended the warranty for the egr to 8 yrs due to failures.
