38 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/02/2018

Our engine suffered a massive engine failure due to high oil consumption issue. The car lost all of its oil and there was absolutely no indication of such situation. I opened a case with Honda care, but as expected, they denied any responsibility even though these vehicles are impacted with such issue and the fact that I received a service bulletin. I will never buy another Honda.

39 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/16/2018

My engine started knocking due to excessive oil consumption, even tho I changed my oil on time every time. There was a lawsuit in 2013, but Honda said I didn't qualify to get my engine replaced free of charge because it was VIN # specific and state specific. Which is crap. I will never buy another Honda. Quality has went way down. .

42 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/01/2018

I have been monitering my oil level consumption and for about 3 different oil changes (6200-6400 mile intervals). My dash shows 40% oil life remaining but when I check the dipstick there is no oil on it at all. It's bone dry. Took the car in for a diagnosis and there are no signs or leaks either. The car is burning through 5 quarts of oil. When asked Honda they say this is normal. I have never experienced this in any other car or my of other Honda. And the low oil pressure light doesn't even come on until I apply the brakes harder than usual.

43 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/22/2017

Excessive oil consumption, burning oil, while in motion.

44 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/28/2017

Excessive oil consumption, the car is burning 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles. The Accord oil change guide per the owners manual is an oil change every 7000 miles. I was driving the car with no oil on the dipstick which is a danger of full engine failure on the road. Honda tested the vehicle and has evidence of the excessive oil consumption. They settled a class action lawsuit agreeing to extend the engine warranty and perform repairs. The dealer stated that v6 engines are not covered in the the technical bulletin issued by Honda. I clearly see v6 as being impacted and listed in the class action lawsuit. The dealer instructed me to contact corporate which is my next step.

45 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/19/2017

My 2010 Honda Accord ex is burning oil excessively. I am required to add about 2 quarts of oil in between oil changes up to 5 times. There is an extended warranty recall add for this problem but the dealership says my car does not qualify. The extended warranty recall states that 2010 Honda Accord's qualify, but they will not replace the piston rings.

46 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

Takata recall. I was checking under the hood of my Honda and I checked my oil level and there was not a drop of oil in the engine. I didnt know why this was so I changed the oil fast to prevent the engine from damaging. Now 1400 miles after my oil change the engine is half way dry of oil. My car is a 2013 Honda Accord with only 42000 miles on it, it should not be burning oil.

47 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/12/2017

This is car has 54,000 miles on it and uses about 1qt of oil every 1,000 miles! I currenlty have 40% left on my oil change and it was 3 quarts low! very excessive oil consumption!! so disappointed in my first Honda.

48 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/18/2017

My 2014 Accord, purchased in April 2014, began burning oil and had to have extensive work/repairs done. According to a recall notice on models manufactured shortly after mine, a similar issue occurred. I was informed by the service center that they had seen several cars the same model as mine with the same issue but no recall notice had been issued yet. If not already done, I believe this issue should be looked into for a potential recall. I can send documents of what work was done.

49 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/21/2017

Excessive oil consumption, causing spark plug malfunction.

50 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/10/2017

In July of 2017 my car started showing that there was a instability in the engine. Turns out that Honda knew about this possible problem and had a procedure to deal with it without fixing the underlying cause. It seems that they made the pistons incorrectly at the factory and they could leak oil into the spark plugs causing misfiring in the cylinders. I went to Honda dealership to have this corrected and they said they needed to replace the spark plugs, clean up the oil and top it off. Then they would do oil consumption tests for a few months to see if the problem was gone. And it was gone for a while. Just long enough for the warranty to expire so when the problem occurred again, I would be left holding the bag to pay the $2700 for the repair that should have been done when I first went in 2017. I called Honda to review my case and they denied me twice stating the age of the car negated any assistance from them. My Honda case number is 09490208.

51 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

53 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/02/2017

Honda refuses to make the court ordered repairs for excessive oil consumption which has caused my catalytic converters to fail as well as my spark plugs repeatedly I have taken to the dealership multiple time and all I get is the run around instead of fixing the problem which they are well aware of.

54 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Excessive oil consumption, 5 quarts used in 6,000 miles.

55 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Excessive oil consumption: I have a 2013 Honda Accord with 74,000 miles. I purchased the extended warranty package at time of purchase. The Accord engine has started using oil. At the last oil change there was only 1 quart of oil left in the engine. Consumption testing did not show 1 quart/1,000 miles so nothing was done by Honda. Between 2,000 and 3,000 miles of the consumption test oil was consumed at a rate of 1 quart or more per 1,000 miles. Honda still did nothing. I called american Honda and got no where. I have purchased several Honda's since 1987 but will never purchase another because of this willingness to do nothing. I was told to check the oil level every time I stopped for gas.

56 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/12/2017

I have a 2009 Honda Accord lx-p (4 cylinder, 2. 4 l). It consumes excessive engine oil. I did a oil consumption test ( had almost 107k miles on the car) at a Honda service center. Result said the car consumed 1 quarter of oil for every 1000 miles (I never see any warning light when oil gets this low. ) Honda service center, after taking about a month, said the vehicle meets the requirement and therefor don't qualify for repair. So looks like I will have to check the oil level every week or so, and also refill oil at every 1000 miles instead of standard 3000 miles.

57 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/02/2017

My Accord has only 89000 miles and engine is burning engine oil almost 1 quart every 3 weeks. I have always took good care and change oil as soon as maintenance required(oil change) light comes on.

58 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

59 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/22/2017

60 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

61 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/01/2017

The car has excessive oil consumption (0. 75 q per 1000 miles) based on a recent oil consumption test. Every 2100 miles or so the low oil warning light lit. Honda refuses to repair.

62 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/26/2017

My 2010 v4 Honda Accord is burning excessive amounts of oil. After doing the oil consumption test though Honda, they determined that my engined burned 2. 5 quarts of oil in approximately 5,100 miles. I believe that the amount is actually greater because they said that as long as it does not consume 1 quart per 1,000 miles that this is normal and they will not fix it. I know they have settled a class-action suit for the v6 model, but chose not to include the v4 models that have the same problem! how can it be normal to burn through more than half of the total amount of motor oil in between oil changes? I now have a car that has an engine that has not been properly lubricated for I am not sure how long because I purchased it used. I may be having to replace my engine before I am even half way through my loan.

63 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/18/2017

Takata recall -I am the owner of a beautiful 2005 Honda Accord ex. I am the original and only owner of my car. My car has this issue where it is burning excessive oil and engine siezes. (I mean really bad). I would get an oil change today and car would be out of oil within 2weeks. . . I've spent over 3000k dollars on trying to figure what the problem was and no mechanic could figure it out. I finally went to a special mechanic who finally did some research and figured out that this was a known issue by Honda and have not yet done a recall for the issue. . Read more...

64 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

The car has been burning excessive engine oil ever since I purchased it. There is no oil leakage as I have never seen any oil drops where I park it. I have to constantly check the oil level and add more. I bought this car from Honda dealership as pre owned certified. I spoke to Honda dealership once about the issue and they said if the car burns 1 quart of oil in 1000 miles then we consider it excessive oil burning. At the time my car was still under warranty. They just gave me this unrealistic oil burning rate so they don't have to honor the warranty. Now my car is not under warranty and the problem of course persists.

65 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/01/2017

66 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/22/2016

Honda knows all about their 6 cyl engines burning through oil but does nothing about it. My car started burning and now leaking oil badly before it hit 100,000 miles but I am now looking at a large repair bill as my car isn't on "the list". Not sure how it couldn't be as articles cite 6 cyl Accords between the years 2008 and 2012. Mine is a 6 cyl Accord, 2009: how is that not on the list?.

70 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/05/2016

While driving, oil light flickered, upon investigation noticed car had lost 3 quarts of oil . I had noticed a momentary rattle upon start up of engine that went away quickly. Honda stated they needed to replace the vtc actuator(o rings, head gasket, timing chain, cylinder repair) before they could do an oil consumption test. Upon research which indicates the actuator is an issue and they refuse to take responsibility . Honda did not want to service it under a recall notice.
