5 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2019

Along several others, I began having the intermittent starting problems on my 2013 2. 4 l Accord at around 60,000 miles. This type of starter uses a solenoid to move the starter motor's pinion gear forward to mesh with the flywheel's ring gear while simultaneously pulling the plunger and its copper contact disc onto the battery contact and the starter motor contact to complete the circuit from the battery to the starter motor. When functioning properly, turning the ignition key or starter button should mesh starter's pinion gear with the flywheel and turn the starter motor to crank the engine. The problem with these starters is that the battery-side contact and the battery-side of the plunger contact erode excessively due to arcing and consequent pitting. This intermittently prevents the plunger's contact from contacting the battery-side contact to complete the circuit between the battery and starter motor. When this happens the pinion gear meshes with the flywheel but the starter motor doesn't turn. Note that the pinion gear engaging and disengaging the flywheel is the clicking sound heard from under the car during a failed start. This problem was fixed by replacing the contacts which are included in Honda brush holder (Honda part number: 31210-5a2-a01) which cost me $45 at my local Honda dealer. I believe 2013 through 2017 2. 4 l Accords use this part which suggests that they will, or are, experiencing the intermittent starting problem. One would think Honda would have had a recall to fix this problem.

6 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/17/2019

7/17/19. 2018 Accord touring 2. 0 purchased new in November (has about 11,000 miles now). I was driving 65mph on highway when car made loud clunking noise, began to smoke intensely, and shuddered to a stop and died. I was on bluetooth phone call at the time and the person on the other end heard it and asked what it was. I said I thought the engine was on fire. I was able to pull over just as every possible warning light flashed on dash and profuse smoke poured from sides and under hood. I jumped out and moved away from vehicle, seeing a long stream of liquid from under the car along the road where I had pulled over. Fire rescue came, although the car did not ignite. They and the roadside service man advised me that oil had exploded everywhere, as from a high pressure situation. The car has had one oil change at the dealer, per its maintenance schedule, and otherwise has had nothing done. I did hear a strange noise coming from it the previous evening--loud enough that I checked to see if it had any maintenance warnings, which it did not. It said my oil was at 60% and would need a b1 when it was time. After my car died, it required a tow to the dealership. The dealer said they could not even turn it on and they don't know what is wrong, but they need a specialist to come look at it. I'm concerned about how utterly dangerous the situation was. If it had been later in the day with heavier traffic, my life would have been at even greater risk. It seems really unusual to have such a catastrophic failure for no reason on a new, historically reliable vehicle.

2009 Honda Accord ex v6 has numerous problems at 130k. . . Most originating at 70-90k. Excessive oil consumption (1 qt a week)! rough idle and acceleration, 6 lights lit up on dash, including check engine. . . Comes on and off intermittently. . . . . Fouled spark plugs, ticking noise coming from steering wheel when turning, brakes must be replaced every 10k miles, loud ticking noise from engine, poor acceleration with missing/sputtering, smoke emits from tailpipes, vsc light stays on along with tpms! the list goes on and on. . . I have been loyal to Honda since 1993 having owned many, especially Accords and this one takes the cake. . . . The worst vehicle ever owned! do not buy Honda. . . They do not care about you and never will! I missed the class action lawsuit by a couple of months on the engine misfire deal. . . Just recently was made aware of it. Never again Honda!!!!.

22 Engine Clicking And Tapping Noises problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

2008 Honda Accord purchased new at gary force Honda bowling green ky. First issue: cold start rattle, dealer replaced atc actuator, problem corrected. Have replaced brakes on the car 4 times. Most recently replaced approximately 1 year ago and now when brakes are applied the steering wheel vibrates worse than a road wagon. At 70,000 miles oil light came on, checked oil and none was on the stick. Added oil, took the car to dealer, they replaced vtc actuator but it did not correct the problem. Complained again and they performed oil consumption analysis only to tell me it was using less than one quart per one thousand miles and that was the industry standard. A few months later I became more irritated about the problem and complained again. They performed another oil consumption analysis to tell me it was using more than it was previously but less than one quart per 1000 miles and wouldn't do anything. Currently the car has 100000 miles on it and yes, the warranty just expired and it's using one quart per 1200 miles. I wrote Honda of America a letter and complained. They called but other than kind words, they did nothing. Oh and have I mentioned the head lights. . . . They blink when the heat or air is on. I must not forget that the leather on both the arm rest and console has bubbled up but no signs of wear or damage around the bubbles. And let me not forget the most recent issue: now often times while setting completely still at a stop light and/or going down the road I hear a clicking sound in the steering column. I am not turning the steering wheel when I hear this noise. It just starts clicking, kind of like an electronic click coming from the steering column. Oh what a piece of junk Honda made when it built the 2008 Accord. Paid 30,000 for it and I'm sadly disappointed.
