On 3 different dates my 2019 Honda Accord sport had a power failure. I was going about 65 to 70 mph when each incident occurred. First time was around 12/12/2021. The engine or power shut off, rpm dropped all at once for about a minute then came back to life. The second time was 12/28/2020 on the same interstate 81fgoing about the same speed. This time I pulled off the interstate the car was still shut off. I restarted the car it drove ok and no more trouble that day. On 01/12/2020 it happened again on I 81 interstate and again it shut off or lost all power for about a minute then it recovered itself. This was a very bad situation as I was in 3 lanes of traffic with tractor trailers all around going 70 mph. I have reported this to miller Honda, three times. They took it in and tried to see if it would shut off on them. It did not at that time. Service manager could find nothing at that time. I have called Honda and registered a claim as I feel this new car with only 5,500 miles on it is not safe to drive.

On 3 diifferant dates my 2019 Honda Accord sport had a power failure on the highway interstate 81, going around 65 to 70 mph. The engine shut off for just a minute then came back to life. Rpm dropped all at once. 1st time on 12/07/2020. Second time was 12/28/2020 same interstate same around the same speed. This I pulled off to side of intersate. The car was still shut off. I restarted car and it started fine and no more disfunction that day. On 01/12/2020 it happened again on I 81 interstate and again it shut off lost all power for a minute , rpms dropped completely and then it recovered itself. Now I have reported this to miller Honda 3 times. Just last week they took it in for another recall on somethi;ng in the computer and they up dated that. A that time the service manager said he could find nothing that showed it had ever shut itself off in the past. I did shut itself off 3 times and I dont care what he said it did happen and I do not feel this vehicle is safe to drive. It is a year old I bought it brand new at miller Honda in winchester va. And it has only 5400, miles on it.
Car lights flicker on and off while car is in motion. At stop light or stop sign, car will just shut off, requireing the driver to put it in park and restart the engine.

At ~92,500 miles, this car has suddenly begun in the past week to shut off while accelerating/driving (in motion) on surface streets and freeways. The multifunction screen and/or sound system and/or dash/engine/acceleration will shut off without warning while I am operating the vehicle in traffic anywhere from 15-65 mph. When it has happened, the system has quickly rebooted and allowed me to resume driving. It feels very unsafe and unpredictable.

My vehicle was parked with the engine shut off and out of nowhere when I went to start it it wouldn't start I tried maybe jumping it but it wasn't working so I had to get it towed. And turns out it was the little connector to the battery terminal so I purchased the part at the dealer and had the mechanic install it the first time. Now it is happening again and I didn't realize the first time I did it the part was a recall so paid out of my own pocket myself . And now for it to happen again is a bummer so I should of filed a compliment the first time around but didn't know about it I figured it might of been something I did but now I know now . And it's the second time this happened and I don't know what else to do I fix the problem and it just comes back.

I was driving down a city road and the vehicle started to accelerate on its own and it did not want to shift gear. I was able to apply brakes but the car continued to accelerate to very high rpms. I had no choice but to turn the shut off the car midway and pull-over. While stationary and car shut off on side of the road I tried to turn it back it and it automatically jumped to high rpm and was never able to change gears from park to drive or anything because the car would take off. After 45 minutes of letting the car figure itself out, it stopped revving too high rpm and was able to go back home. The issue has stopped but now when I start the car up and switch from park to drive the car has a delayed engagement. Also, now my steering wheel locks up ever once in a while and when making turns randomly. I have checked power steering and no leaks or any sign on a repair that needs to be completed.

Car wouldn't start all electric systems down. Car shutdown no lights no engines. No power at all.
Page 1 of 2 - I purchased my 2015 Honda Accord coupe ex-l with 2. 4l cvt in June of 2015 new with maybe 5 miles on the odometer. I started having issues just months after purchasing the vehicle from brandon Honda. The first incident occurred when pulling out of my office complex onto a busy highway when the car decided to just shut off causing the steering column to also seize while the odometer flashed "fcw failure" along with several other instrument panel lights on steady. Since that occurrence it seems as if I've had nothing but problems with the vehicle. I have on several occasions taken the vehicle in for repeated transmission/front end issues ¿ such as jerking between rpms, down ¿shifting¿ for no reason causing rpms to just drop instead of holding when releasing my foot from the accelerator and while traveling at highway/interstate speeds of 55+ mph, etc. The last 3 times included an additional issue where the gearshift would go from (d) drive and into (r) reverse while continuing to go in a forward motion with back up camera displaying on dash screen and (r) displaying on the odometer where the gear is displayed. The discovery of this safety hazard took place for the first time on an interstate while traveling 65+ mph. The passenger at the time was reaching to grab their beverage from cup holder closest to the gear shifter when it was hit/tapped in the upward motion engaging the transmission into (r) reverse. It took me a minute to grasp what happened because while I'm looking forward into the direction I'm driving, I glance down at the odometer and notice (r) in place of the (d) where the current gear engaged would be indicated. Then out of the corner of my eye I notice the camera was on display but not realizing the camera was from the rear and could see the vehicles directly behind me on the interstate.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. While driving 25 mph, the vehicle shut off while making a turn. All the warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was diagnosed and repaired with a new battery; however, the vehicle had to be placed into park before it would restart. The failure continued intermittently. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 132,747.

My vehicle shut down while parked in an plaza on pembroke road at the beginning on March 2015. This happened again x 2 while the vehicle was parked (engine running) on separate days. The last time it happened I was driving along pines boulevard in peak hour traffic (Tuesday April 21st 2015), as I approached the intersection of hiatus road and pines boulevard, I started slowing down for a red light. The vehicle then shut down/stalled again. The fact that there was a red light helped to prevent and accident, as everyone driving in the same direction had to stop. This time I had to call for a police cruiser to stand in place until I was able to get a tow or get it started again. After about 30 minutes, I finally got it started again and made it home. I took it to a Honda dealer on Wednesday April 22, 2015. They were able to replicate the issue but after replacing the battery (4-23-2015), fuel pump (4-24-2015) they said that the issue still persists and is now getting more frequent. They (autonation Honda in miami lakes) have been trying to 'fix' the problem but they have not yet succeeded. Today is may 3rd 2015 I am asking that the ntsb looks into this issue, as the last time it happened I was in peak hour traffic, this issue can lead to an accident. . I also contacted Honda corporate customer service and reported the issue. Christopher morrison.

2005 Honda Accord. Consumer states when the vehicle is in use for more than 15 minutes, a yellow light comes on and the car shuts off. The consumer stated the vehicle was serviced numerous times.
We smelled fuel when driving to church on a Sunday. Thinking it was some leftover fuel splashed, we continued but then the smell became really intense. So we turned around and returned toward home. Upon entering our street, suddenly the vehicle stalled totally out and came to a stop in middle of the road! we rolled it over to the side, it is a neighborhood street; then started car again and went slowly downhill to the house; car stalled again just outside our house, we could not get it into driveway, very strong fuel smell; we pushed it to get it parked on the street. Tried again later that day to start the car but it wouldn't start, very strong fuel smell and gasoline leaking onto the street. Car towed to Honda dealer next day; after technicians examined the car they concluded "rodent damage" to the fuel line leading to the fuel tank. They would not cover any of the damage as it "wasn't manufacturer defect. " also called national Honda customer service and opened a case; but they would not agree either to cover anything. We were very lucky we weren't on a highway or interstate when this suddenly stalled out, we could have been rear ended as the car suddenly stopped with no warning! the fuel line last portion leading into the tank is made of rubber, it is not metal or hard plastic like the rest of the line and therefore subject to something sharp puncturing it--which is a defective design in our view. The new part they put on is same as the old, the same thing could happen again. There is no shield under the fuel tank area to keep things from underneath getting up in there. Honda should at least cover the cost of the repair (we paid $684. 09), car is almost brand new. And we believe this is a safety hazard, car can shut off with no warning. Thank you for your help.
This was instance #3 and worst occurence. Stopped at traffic light, made a left turn when break in traffic, half way into turn engine lagged with no response like it shutdown, then took off. Almost t-boned by oncoming traffic. Lag between start of turn and then engine response was at least 2-3 seconds. Same issue has happened 2 times before. Both of those instances were right turns on red, with no oncoming traffic. Even though no traffic was coming, the concern is that the lag/dead response worries me and creates a safety issue. Have spoken wiht 3 Honda service advisors that have not heard of the issue and becuase it is intermittent don't know what they could do. They stated clearly that unles they could recreate the issue, it would be difficult to trouble shoot it. I have searched the internet forums and found similar occurrences with other Honda owners, not only of the Accord but also the crosstour. I believe this is a serious safety issue and deserves investigation.
The engine shut off twice on that day while I was driving. Fortunately, there was no accident but might have been in a serious accident. I searched the internet and found out some old Honda models had these kind of problems and it was caused by a defected ignition switch. I contacted a local Honda dealer but there was no active recall regarding of this problem. I got my ignition switch replaced in a mechanic shop.

As you are driving the engine just shuts off. After pulling over the engine will restart most of the time. The problem appears to be in the ignition switch.
Car shuts off while driving. . . Going 70mph or going 15mph. Engine clicks off, lights still work but car engine is no longer running.
Engine shuts down itself when running on the highway or on the street roads.
1998 Honda Accord kept shutting off while driving. The car stopped on a back road around a turn and completely stalled. Then when driving the car to a dealership it shut off while driving on interstate.
My 1998 Honda Accord has been having the same problem for the past three years. In hot weather, during the summer months, my car will either not start at all, start and then immediately shut off, or shut off while driving. This problem has continued to worsen over the past three years to the point I am afraid to drive my Honda. I have taken it to numerous mechanics, including an authorized Honda dealer, and no one has been able to fix this issue. The Honda dealer replaced the battery and the starter, which has not fixed the problem. I do not have any of the old parts that were replaced. This problem occurs in hot or warm weather. It will happen a couple of times a week, and then won't again for a couple of weeks. I am fearful of the consequences enough that I am not driving my car because I have no way of knowing when or where my car will random shut off. My car has shut off while driving on a busy road, and men in other cars had to push my car across heavy traffic to get it off of the road. After a few minutes of rest, my car started again. I am also afraid of what would happen if my car shut off while driving on the interstate. I am not sure what to do at this point because authorized mechanics have not been able to solve this issue.
My 1998 Honda Accord lx is randomly turning off while I am stopped, or while I am driving. It never occurs at any certain time or speed. I have many things replaced in the car and nothing has fixed it. I had a recall done on the ignition switch and it still did it. I talked with a service representative at a Honda dealership and he told me that the main relay system are notorious for going out, so I took a chance since it was only 65 dollars and replaced it and it appears the problem has been fixed. I had read on many forums from tons of people who have had the same problem and no one can figure it out. This is a huge safety concern because my car could be driving along the freeway going 65 and it would just shut off for no reason. Sometimes it would not start back up and I had to force my car on the side of the road. This could cause a serious wreck which could lead to fatalities if it was during rush hour.
Bought this 99 Honda Accord dx 4 door 5 speed back in 2006 from a Honda dealership. In the end of 2007 the car shut off on the high way while I was driving!!! thank god I didn't get into an accident! it then happened again a month later! it then happened quite frequently till I could no longer let the key go without it shutting off! when the car shuts off everything stops, including power steering!!! very dangerous!!! we looked over the car and looked online and found my car had a recall on it. We called Honda's 1800 number and they told us the car had already been recalled and fixed in 2002 so they didn't have to do anything for us!!! so why then a couple of years later would the same problem be happening!? I am scared that if I go and have it fixed it will just shut off on me again in four years, or less!? did they just replace the faulty part with another faulty part?! I have read some of the forums on line and they seem to indicate that it could be the wiring to the ignition switch and not the whole part. We have rigged the car by hanging objects off of the keys to get it to stay on. . . I know it's only a matter of time before it stops altogether! Honda refuses to take responsibility for they're products. They should not be aloud to continue this! how can we allow them to put unsafe vehicles on the road putting peoples life's in danger!?.
The contacts friend owns a 1999 Honda Accord. While driving 60 mph, the vehicle shut off. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and restarted. The failure has been occurring frequently. The dealer replaced the main fuel relay switch, but the problem still persists. The engine size was unknown. The current mileage is 87,500 and failure mileage was 87,475. Updated 06/08/07.
Consumer stated that while her son was driving a 1999 Honda, Accord, he encountered some problems. When making a turn, either right or left, the vehicle shut off. But, it would start right up immediately. This could be dangerous when making a turn out of traffic or into traffic. Also, consumer was told that there was a recall on this type of problem, but she had not received any notification.
The vehicle shut off. Dealer notified. Ph.
I backed out of a parking spot and proceeded through the parking lot and turned left onto busy road. All of the sudden the car shut off and I was stuck in the middle of oncoming traffic. I was able to re-start the engine and made it safely to my next stop. When I tried to start the engine again it started but shut off right away. This happened several times. I had the vehicle towed to the dealership and it started when it got there and they said it was probably due to the type of gas I used. They said that gas stations switch to a different type of fuel in the fall/winter and that it can cause this to happen.

Vehicle shutsdown without prior warning. There is a hesitation before shutting down.
The engine shuts down with no warning. The problem has occurred 5 times. The first time it happened on a side street at 35mph. The green security key light came on. . . Experienced a loss of power and then all other lights came on and car stopped. I was able to restart the engine. A few weeks later on the freeway. . . At 70mph. . . Green security light came on. . . Experienced a loss of power. . . And then. . . Power came back and car drove on normally. Third time, driving over rail road tracks, at 10 mph, green light came on, engine cut off. . . Vehicle was restarted. Fourth time, freeway at 70mph, green key light came on, experienced loss of power, engine cut off. Tried to restart car several times unsuccessfully. Waited 45 minutes and then car restarted. This problem is a direct threat to my life. Please help.
Since 1/99, car will not start sporadically, dealership and regional offfice contacted. Keys and immobilizer replaced. Today, car shut off in third gear. Had to come to full stop and start up again. Dealership contacted again.
For no apparent reason my car stops while driving. This engine shuts down forcing me to make an emergency stop whether I am driving on the freeway or surface streets. This has happened repeatedly and regardless of the speed at which I am driving. I have taken my car to the auto repari shop each time it has occurred over the last 2 weeks, for a total of 7 times. Each time the car is probed and diagnostic testing is conducted but still the problem cannot be identified. I have been told by the mechanics that the computer in my car fails to provide a code which could then be used to trace the source of the problem. Yesterday, Dec. 18th, the mechanics had a group discussion about ak.
I had a problem after 200 miles (after fixed). I was driving on Nov. 28, 2002 (thanksgiving day) on I-77 / I-64 (west virginia) it is a mountain area. I was driving about 65mph. It was down grade road and all of sudden my car was making big jerks in engine (like stalling or something like that) and engine shut off on middle of interstate at that place no shoulder line. Me and my family were in car and we were so lucky, that time no one behind me car / truck, otherwise someone car / truck can hit my car from back and you can think about what could happen at that time.
