I lost my power steering at 65mph driving to the coast on highway 26 in oregon. I nearly crashed my car on the curve when my wheel would not turn like it normally does. I had to yank the wheel to the left to stay on the road. I was terrorist! I slowed my can to 50mph the rest of the 45 miles to my beach house in seaside oregon. The steering continued to get worse and I has happy to have the traffic slow down 20 miles out of seaside to bumper to bumper. I barely got the wheel to turn into my driveway at our seaside, oregon home. I started my 'research' to see if a recall had been made on my car for power steering because I would have died hitting the wall of dirt and trees leaving the highway. This is a huge safety issue! I found an article from 2014 that 374,000 people had complained of this same problem. And that you were investigating back in 2014! my car only has about 42,000 miles on it and that was the time of them going out According to the article. Cars effected were 2013-2017 Honda Accords ex. Mine is that and a v6. How many people have crashed & died with this faulty part? do you have record of it? I want this electrial power steering part recalled!! you have failed with not recalling it back in 2014!! I am holding "you" accountable for this happening to me!! I want you to pay for my car to be fixed and my rental car! I need you to respond to me heyjude911@earthlink. Net 503-367-3072 is my cell. You are lucky I didn't crash!! my car is sitting in my driveway in seaside, oregon and I need it towed to beaverton, oregon to get it fixed. I have posted the 2014 article of you not recalling this!.
Last night my dashboard lost electricity for about 2 seconds and my engine stalled. I also lost power steering control. After 2 seconds, electrical components of the dashboard returned to normal, as did the power steering and engine, and everything was fine. This morning, I drove on a street & smoke entered the cabin area of the car & I pulled over immediately to a nearby gas station. I opened the hood and the battery (positive terminal) was fully engulfed in flames. A gentleman put out the fire with water from the gas station. My battery is 1/4 melted, due to the fire. Other plastic parts of the engine are also slightly melted. I called gardena Honda (in los angeles CA) and they told me my 2016 Honda Accord was not part of the battery sensor recall but the service person told me that she had seen my email and forwarded it to her supervisor, and that she would speak to him to see what they could do (given the car is apparently not part of the recall). She called me back and told me that her supervisor said to immediately bring it into the gardena, CA Honda dealership, which I did. Upon arrival (with a CO-worker who took time to help me drop off the car) the service people told me they would definitely be charging me at least $160 for a diagnosis. I then explained to them that I was misled, as when I initially called I was told that she would check to see what they could do and that she would call me back. At no time did she say I would be charged for anything. Instead, she mislead me by saying she had spoken to her supervisor and that he said to bring it in immediately. They mislead me, wasted my time, and are putting people's lives in danger as although my vehicle (2016 Honda Accord with VIN is apparently not part of the recall, my car's battery caught fire and I am sure other people's car's will also catch fire. The recall should be expanded beyond the current list.

In August of 2018 I brought my vehicle into balise Honda in west springfield, massachusetts with a loss of power steering during operation on a highway. They worked on the vehicle and reported no recalls for loss of power steering. When I picked up the vehicle, I regained power steering. On June 5, 2019, I lost the power steering again during operation of the motor vehicle on a city street. I successfully drove the vehicle home without power steering and it continued into June 6, 2019. Please help me understand why accidents have occurred due to the loss of power steering in the 2013 Honda Accord and no recalls have been issued? this safety issue cannot continue. . .
While driving, the power steering light illuminated and I lost power steering. Luckily I was driving locally so gain control of vehicle quickly.
The power steering indicator keeps coming on and lost of power steering.

I was driving going 45mph when the steering light came on and I lost power steering. . I pull over and restarted the car and it went away and power steering work again. . I took my car to Honda for repair . . They can't find anything wrong with it. . Got the car back after two days . . Drove it and the same issue happened . . Now I'm afraid to drive my car because if it happen on highway I'll be in big trouble. . .
I was driving in the left hand lane on the highway and the steering went stiff. The steering warning light came on. The car had no power steering. I moved into the right hand lane, exited the highway and made it home. I didn't have an accident but the car was extremely hard to steer, especially at slower speeds. When I restarted the car the next day, the warning light was off and the power steering worked. I then took the car to the dealership and they said there was a fault code for the steering. They couldn't duplicate the problem so they erased the fault code, rebooted the computer and said it might fix the problem but if not the eps (electronic power steering) rack would need to be replaced for the estimated cost of $2140. The Accord had 60,900 miles on it when this malfunction occurred; 235 miles later, I lost power steering again and had the repair done.
Lost all power steering on highway. Steering wheel was very very hard to turn.
Power steering failed while at a red light on 5/21/2017. It fixed itself after 3 car restarts (over the course of ~5 hours). The car was taken to the dealer on 5/22/2017 for software update to the electronic power steering control unit. The car drove fine until 5/27/2017 when it again lost power steering, this time while navigating a turn at 50mph on the freeway. Luckily, I was able to regain control of the car without hitting any other cars. Clearly, there is a problem with the electronic power steering and their software update does not solve the problem.
While driving about 40mph in a straight line I suddenly lost power steering. I had the eps light show on my dash. I pulled over and restarted the car 2 or 3 times before the power steering came back to normal. The steering was incredibly hard to turn. A few hours later I brought the car to a Honda dealer and they were able to confirm that an error code was logged during incident: dtc 71-01 motor angle sensor (sin/cos signals) unfortunately, they were not able to determine the cause of the above eps failure. They concluded that the issue is "intermittent" and that I should continue to drive the car and see if it happens again. I am afraid to drive this car now after this experience.
While driving on a local street I attempted to male a left when suddenly the vehicle lost power steering. I turned the vehicle off for a few minutes, turned it on and the steering responded. That same day when returning home I decided not to take the highway because of the steering problem. Again, this time while driving in a straight line the vehicle lost steering. Turning it off again for three minutes seemed to restore steering.
The contact owns a 2001 Honda Accord. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle lost power steering ability. The dealer diagnosed that the power steering pressure hose needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 136,000.

I am driving between 20-30 mph. The power steering light comes and immediately loses power steering. I am a big guy and I have to use a lot of strength to move to the side of the road. I shut off car for a few minutes and restart car. The problem went away. This happened 3x time in the last month.
The car has lost power steering on three occasions over the past one and one half weeks. The first time, 8/19/2015, after waiting at a red light to make a left turn, I could barely turn the steering wheel to make the turn. I forced the turn and could smell a burning smell. I turned the car off, read the manual, then turned the car on and drove the less than a mile to my home with no problem. On 8/26/2015, after driving less than a half mile from home at not more than 20-30 miles an hour, the car lost steering power again. I pulled over, turned the car off, then turned it back on. I returned home and drove the car less than 20 miles to the Honda dealership in wesley chapel florida. They kept the car. When I picked it up on 8/27/2015, I was told that a software update had been done. On 8/28/2015, I drove the car approximately 50 miles around town doing errands. When I started the car to back out of a store parking lot, I noticed the steering symbol was lighted and found that the car would not steer. I turned the ignition off, then right back on and returned home. I am now going to take the car back to the Honda dealer in wesley chapel.
Lost power steering, which is electric on this car. Sudden increased effort required to steer, light illuminated in gauge cluster showing steering wheel and exclamation point. Dealer hasn't been able to figure it out since they can't duplicate it. This has happened on a dozen occasions but not with regularity.

I started my car in park while on a hill with emergency brake on. The car started moving a second or two before I released the emergency brake. Immediately, I lost my power steering and brakes. I stopped the car by putting on the emergency brake and putting the trans mission in park. The total trip was about 100 yards. I noticed that 5 or 6 warning lights were on including the battery. Then I quickly turned the engine off. I waited for about two minutes and restarted the engine and embarked on a 25 mile trip home without further incident.
While driving the car suddenly loses power steering. Once the car is turned off and back on the problem normally resloves. There was one instance that took turning the car off several times to get it to reset. I have had this problem occur atleast 6 -8 times over the past month. When I called the Honda dealership they said they had never heard of this problem occuring. I have scheudled an appointment for them to take a look.
The power steering light came on; and lost all power steering power. The incident happened while I was turning left. With great difficulty I was able to steer out of traffic. The symptom went away after the vehicle was turned off and turned on. The symptom again happened after about 5 minutes of driving.
While driving straight I lost power steering. After pulling off road I shut the car off and restarted it and the steering re-set itself.
On Jan 24th, 2013 I took my car to the Honda dealership for a problem with my power steering. The eps (electric power steering) system indicator came on and off several times and lost power steering during those times. The problem has been intermittent. The Honda dealership tried to fix the problem 3 times. On Feb 5th, 2013 the intermittent power steering problem seemed to be fixed. Then on Aug 21st, 2014 the power steer problem started again. I returned to the Honda dealership and Honda tried again to fix the intermittent power steering problem. On Aug 22nd, I drove my Honda Accord out of the dealership and had to turn around and bring it back because the cars¿ eps (electric power steering) system indicator light came on and off again and I lost power steering during that time. I¿m now waiting to see if the intermittent power steering problem can be found and fixed. Since I bought my car the Smart entry system indicator light has turned on and off intermittently without an adverse effect that I know of. I know an intermittent problem is hard diagnose and fix but i¿m starting have less and less confidence in Honda the company that manufactured my car.
