I started my car up in the morning and warmed it up for about 15 minutes then as I go to put it in reverse the battery light came on I then put my car in park and turned it off then I turned it back on and the battery light was still on I decided to just go because I have to be at work in an hour as I am driving down I five the radio stopped working like the side of the vehicle started flickering and my headlights turned off and I was now driving down I-5 in the dark. Fortunately I made it to my location parked my car and it completely died. I didn't open my hood and started checking my battery and my alternator etc. I confirmed my battery was fine and that my alternator had failed. I then notice fluid was leaking from the power steering pump to the alternator. Now my car is has no power and even if I get it jumpstarted it just dies.

Was informed that there is a power steering fluid leak in the vehicle. Noted that there was a recall of hundreds of thousands of 2004 Honda Accords for this exact problem but told at dealership that my particular 2004 Honda Accord was not included. I am concerned that this is the same problem. Of note, by 2007 Honda odyssey has also been diagnosed with a power steering fluid leak. Multiple mechanics have stated that this is very unusual that two cars made by the same manufacturer would both have power steering issues. Both the odyssey and Accord models have had power steering recalls in the past and I suspect that these vehicles have similar issues.
I was in a bad accident I was in the far right lane on the highway I'm going 55mph someone jumped in front of me I used my breaks then my car jerked right into the other person car causing my car to spin around 2 time on a 6 lane highway . The airbag never deployed the staring wheel was not turning lots of fluids leaking out of it but it was always jerking for some reason even when the mechanic says that's natural. .

The other night I noticed fluid on my garage floor. First time I've noticed any leak out of this car. Looked underneath and found power steering fluid leaking from the rack and pinon on lh side at the boot. Looks like the same leak I've been seeing other people complain about online. 63,000 miles. Only using Honda power steering fluid.

Power steering hose recall. Took vehicle to hoda dealership to fix damaged hose for the recall. Leaking hose caused pump to malfunction due to not enough fluid or pressure going or pressure going into pump. Dealership service determined that the hose was the cause of the pump leak. I have the report from Honda stating they are at fault for the power steering pump failure. I am not the original owner so I found out about the recall after smoke appeared on the hood of my vehicle. Honda did an investigation and denied any repairs on the pump. Honda only fixed hose and tried up selling the repairs for the pump.

The power steering hose has developed a leak which is causing p ower steering fluid to leak onto hot engine parts resulting in spoke in the interior and engine bay. There is a recall for this exact problem on v6 models but not the v4 like I have.
The Honda Accord power steering completely shut off on me while driving on the highway. I experienced this very frightening situation yesterday with my 2013 Honda Accord v6 while driving about 40mph in a straight line I suddenly lost power with no apparent reason. I had the eps light show on my dash. I pulled over and restarted the car but with no success the power steering wouldn't turn on it was completely dead. I did not see no fluid leaks under the car and the power steering pump has plenty of fluid.
Heard a whirring noise and smoke started coming out of the right side of my engine, my rack n pinion power steering was leaking and my car almost caught on fire. Had the car towed to my mechanic and he stated there is a crack in the rack n pinion which is leaking fluid, estimated 600-1200 dollars to fix it. I looked online and there was a previous recall for this problem on another year but not the 2011.

Whining noise under the hood while engine was running and continued regardless of the car's speed. Cause: power steering rack was leaking. Internal damage to power steering pump. Power steering reservoir had debris in it causing the fluid to aerate. Solution: Honda dealership mechanic replaced the power steering rack, power steering reservoir and power steering pump. Note: had brought car in to the Honda dealership concerning this situation back on August 4, 2017. Results: mechanic found the power steering fluid low and performed a power steering flush. He also stated that possible damage to the power steering pump may have occurred. Noise was gone after this service.

When backing down from driveway, steering wheel makes awful noise and hard to turn, esp. When backing and turning. Also before this happens, fluid leaking and a part popped out.
Official NHTSA page concerning recall #12v222000. While driving, my car's electrical system is making noise behind the steering wheel, my power steering fluid leaks, and my I got a check engine light with a catalytic converter issue. I think it's related to this recall. On a city street. Or the electrical system ticks or whines when I turn the car on.
My power steering pressure line is leaking, also reservoir leaks and steering always whines and its full of fluid. Leaks on my driveway. When its stationary it leaks and when in motion it whines.
Power steering hose leaks for Honda Accord 2006 sedan ex, v6. Hoses are moist and oily wet. The steering wheels continues to squeaks when turning. The fluid level is low even after refill up to full max fill line. Honda dealer inspected and said they replaced hoses in April 2013 after recalls were issued for power steering hose leaks/deterioration. Now it is April 2017, again is this a recurring issue/concern for Honda Accord v6 automobiles?.
I have took my car to the shop because it keeps speeding up and down and they said they didn't couldn't find anything wrong with the transmission and it's still doing it and I had the transmission fluid change hoping it would help it but it didn't . . They changed the fluid but not the filter. . Now the transmission seal is leaking. . I have had this car to the shop several times. . The car speeds up going up or down hills or driving straight on flat roads.
Took car to Honda for steering recall. All they could do was tell me what else I needed. Power steering is not working . Having breaks put on and guy shows me my power steering fluid leak all over. They never fixed the problem when I took it in to be fixed.
Steering: on Friday July 1, 2016, my Honda Accord v4 began to shudder and shake as I backed out of the driveway. I stopped and turned off the car. After a short wait, I restarted the car and proceeded to back out onto the street, but the shaking of the steering wheel was very pronounced and I immediately returned to the driveway. A check of the fluids revealed very low power steering fluid, below the minimum level mark. After topping up the chamber with new fluid, the car started and was operable without shaking and no steering problems. However, the level in the chamber sank immediately below the minimum line after just a minute or two of operation (I backed a short distance down the drive). There were a significant number of fresh fluid spots on the drive. More fluid was added and the car was successfully driven to the dealership located 2 miles from our home, where it is awaiting repair. The dealer reported this morning that both the high pressure line and the return line were leaking. Since the car was driven with no problems or signs of leaks the day before, and because these leaks appeared suddenly, without any prior problems with steering or power steering fluid levels, we believe this failure poses a significant risk to the driver, passengers, and others on the road. There was also the potential of an engine fire due to the leaking fluid. The car has regular maintenance and very low mileage (<30000 miles). The NHTSA issued a recall in 2012 (12v222000) for 2003-2007 Accord v6s. Because that recall was due to defective lines/hoses, and our car's hoses also failed in the same way, we believe that further investigation into other Accord engine sizes and VIN numbers should be conducted and included in the recall.
I have the Honda Accord se 2012. Last time I took it for a oil change and where they also perform a check in Honda austin, texas when it was only 36 k miles done. They notified power steering fluid is leaking but it is good to go. Nothing major. I have observed the steering has become very hard recently and makes a lot of noise while at low speed. I took it for service in germain Honda on sawmill road in columbus. They inspected and told me it will cost me 1700 bucks. When I told them that this is a manufacturing defect and I have seen a lot of complains on the web for the same. They still denied it. A 2012 model vehilce without any accident if it needs 2000 dollar servicing and part change it is very harsh. I have never imagined Honda Accord can give you such problems. I will try to reach out to Honda incase they want to replace the part.
2003 Honda Accord. Consumer writes in regards to power steering hose unit continues leaking fluid after repairs. Consumer has previous complaint with another vehicle in artemis.
The contact owns a 2009 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while going for a routine oil change, it was informed that the power steering rack was leaking fluid. The dealer diagnosed that the power steering rack needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact referenced NHTSA campaign number: 12v5222000 (steering). The approximate failure mileage was 34,000.

2004 Accord transmission began leaking at the same time as abs trouble, what seems to be suspension problems (bad springs?), hood struts failed. These all happened about a month after one dealer replaced an engine mount and leaking power steering fluid container. The trunk opening switch would not work but was too expensive to repair. I had the abs looked at at another dealer and for $100 an "electrical switch" under the gas pedal was replaced. The power steering fluid was leaking again. They said that the transmission needed to be fixed for $2000 and that my car was not in the recall. I saw many complaints about transmission leaks online and about the gas door not opening. The dealer didn't want to hear about that. (engine mounts and hood struts are popular items on amazon. ) I was lucky that my head wasn't under there when the hood fell. I had opened the hood to check the power steering fluid and went to the trunk to get some, when it fell. I was able to replace them from amazon. I had the engine cut out twice while driving in the rain after last inspection. I lost steering and saw the engine light come on so I quickly started the engine again. About a month apart. It didn't happen again. It seems strange to me that all of this happened within 6 months after an inspection.
Tl-the contact owns a 2005 Honda Accord. The contact stated that the vehicle was leaking fluid from underneath. The failure recurred multiple times. The contact mentioned that it was discovered that the fluid was leaking from the power steering hose and placed a clamp on the hose. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that the seat belt warning indicator illuminated when to seat belt was attached, and the brake pedal was depressed but the seat belt failed to retract. The failure recurred multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 180,000. Mf.
Transmission makes a loud whining noise. Dealer diagnosed a power steering rack fluid leak. I'm told very unusual for only approx. 46k miles. No recalls for this year model yet. The repair estimate is over $1500. My 36k mile warranty is expired so dealer won't cover the repair. I bought a Honda because I heard and believed they were very good cars. I no longer have that belief! I will not purchase another Honda. No other maker has required extensive repair work at such low mileage.
I have a 2003 Honda Accord sedan. In Aug 2015, I had been noticing a wheezing, straining sound when I turned my car while driving. It became harder to turn as well. I checked the power steering fluid, and it was empty. I got the appropriate power steering fluid specifically for Hondas and refilled it. In sept 2015, on my way to work in the morning, I noticed smoke coming from under my hood. It is a 10 minute commute for me through the city streets. The smoke began when I was outside my work at a stoplight. I was able to get into the parking lot when I realized the underside of my hood had caught fire. (see attached photos) that day, I got it to the mechanic, and he told me that there were cracks in the power steering and fluid was everywhere under my hood, all over my engine. Doing some research online, I saw a recall for this exact problem, with my exact car: NHTSA campaign id# 12v222000; may 17, 2012. It states that "prolonged under hood and power steering fluid temperatures may cause the power steering hose to deteriorate prematurely, resoling in cracks and power steering fluid leakage. If this occurs, power steering fluid can lead onto a hot catalytic converter, leading to smoke and under hood fire. " when I called into Honda customer service to confirm my car applied to this recall, they said it did not. I do not understand how this exact problem can exist for my car, but my car not be listed as effected. Regardless of what they say, my car caught on fire. My car caught on fire for the same reason Honda recalled 625,762 other vehicles for power steering defects. As I cannot afford to fix the power steering, I was however forced to replace the belt that is closest to the power steering fluid reservoir (see photos), because it had been burned and mangled. Nearly $200 just for the belt.
