Steering Wheel Problems of Honda Accord

Vehicle went to dealer for a transmission problem, transmission being replaced under warranty. Problem is that lower control arms are corroded and can not be re-used. These arms need to be removed to do transmission. Problem - corroded lower control arms at 52414 miles.

Low-mileage Honda Accord's front end front end anti-sway bar's link connectors broke and sway bar was disconnected from the wheels creating a dangerous driving condition; especially normal driving into turns and curves! american Honda refused to discuss the safety issues and only stated my car was "out-of-warranty". This problem of the losses of both anti-sway bar connectors is difficult to detect; only a soft scraping noise warned me of the danger. I purchased this Accord new and have driven it carefully for the 20,700 miles. I am concerned about the general public's awareness of this hidden Honda Accord problem before their front end wheels snap or bend causing accidents and/or fatalities!.

The contact owns a 2004 Honda Accord. The contact examined the vehicle and noticed that the air bag was cracking through the center of the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the entire air bag needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 70,400. I have had my 2003 Honda Accord ex automatic 4 cylinder VIN# jhmcm56673c021598 at nalley Honda in brunswick, GA to be aligned three times. 9-23-03 had recall work and pulling to the right alignment done. Picked car up on 9-26-03 and drove home (st. Marys, GA) approximately 45 miles and car was still pulling to the right and the steering wheel is off centered to the right. Called nalley Honda and spoke with the service director mr. Frank hall. He said bring it back. 9-29-03 second alignment and steering wheel adjusted straight. This time mr. Hall gave me a copy of the alignment specifications, but the specifications/tolerances were listed for a Honda Accord from 1998-2002. Picked car up on 10-2-03 and drove home. Car still pulls to the right. Called nalley Honda and spoke with the service director mr. Frank hall and he said to bring it back again. 10-6-03 went on a test drive before leaving it with mr. Hall and he agreed the car pulled to the right. Third alignment performed. Picked up car on 10-10-03 and mr. Hall stated he and the owner of the alignment shop drove the car and it was satisfactory. Again I take my car and it still pulls to the right as I am driving home. Now the steering wheel has a shimmy vibration and the steering is tight and jerky. Called mr. Hall at nalley Honda and he said they cannot do anything else and referred me to american Honda customer service at 1-800-999-1009. I called american Honda customer service on 10-15-03 and spoke with mr. Tony yun and gave him the above information and he said he would get back to me in 24 to 48 hours. He said he needed to talk to nalley Honda. On 10-16-03 mr. Yun called back and said he had spoke with mr. Hall. He said mr. Hall at nalley Honda stated the car was satisfactory and said it drove better than his own Honda. Mr. Yun suggested I carry my car to another Honda dealership to see if they could align the car to suit me.

Consumer states that while driving at any speed and without warning the steering wheel will lock up and it will be hard for the consumer to control the vehicle. Dealer notified. Ts.

Investigated 2 accidents in the last 1-1/2 weeks on 97 and 98 Honda Accord that was going at highway speeds when driver said steering column locked up when passing another car. Resulted in head on collision at highway speed. Unable to find any problem with steering or suspension parts on either car at time of inspection. Nlm.

1st accident of 2 involving Honda Accord. Both accidents happened within a few days of each other in different towns. Both drivers of the 97 and 98 Accords said when they were passing a vehicle on the highway, the steering column locked up. Steering linkages and suspension parts were inspected and checked out fine. Unknown if steering column has a intermittent problem of locking up. Steering column was turning fine at investigation. Nlm.

I purchased the vehicle in June 2000. As certified vehicle from dealership,, certified for safety inspections 150 point? I noticed when test driving vehicle. Front of vehicle had severe vibration, I noticed that the tires were low on air pressure. Problem continued, I contacted the dealership numerous time to resolve the matter. At the time of sale the inspection was to be final. I later found out the inspection was never completed properly, ther are two active titles currently on vehicle, ohio and California California is now salvaged title as of 2/04/2001. Contacted dealership numerous time regarding the findings on the bumper cover that had medical tape holding the side secure fastners together. And bumper cover out of allignment. Radiator support had been buckled and not repaired correctly, primer on the inside of right front hood, head l ight assembly unit not complete and out of allignment, uneven tire wear, no owners manual, tires switched at time allignment was performed by dealership, dealership rented vehicle for 10 days. , dealership represented preferred body shop american autobody and paint as boar official that was misrepresentation, contacted american Honda as well as Honda care regarding this vehicle and dealership? I asked the dealership what the certification applied to? it was to be warrantied just like a new vehicle. . Vehicle warranty docs were incomplete and not voluntarily submitted? dealership employee pushed husband against wall? no owners manual? michellon warranty came with vehicle docs. But at time of allignment federal tires were replaced without warranty? I was told the new tires were magical? I totalled the vehicle and later found on ccc report from the insurance company, that vehicle had previous damage done. . And all the above problem pertaining to previous damage?.

Battery went out, and two fuses had to be replaced. Also, the air conditioner is blowing out heat, making the vehicle hot, and the dealer can't found the problem.

Made a u turn on a residential street, when the driver turned the steering wheel to the left the steering wheel locked up for a few second. This is the forth time this lock up occurred. Please describe details.

Steering column separated from the shaf.

The steering wheel in my vehicle has slack in it sometimes and get hard to control.

Steering wheel design is defective, horn location, to activate horn driver has to remove hand from wheel.

The driver has difficulty steering the vehicle because the steering wheel is tight and vibrates while driving.
