1 Steering problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/31/2026

2014 Honda Accord hybrid experienced a sudden, complete loss of electric power steering assist immediately upon vehicle startup, illuminating the eps dash warning light. The steering became extremely heavy and physically difficult to turn, rendering the vehicle unsafe to operate on public roads. An onboard diagnostic check retrieved a hard diagnostic trouble code (dtc) 53, which explicitly indicates an eps torque sensor failure. Honda is fully aware of this defect and issued service bulletin 15-056 (Sep. 2018), which extends the eps warranty to 13 years for this exact year and model. However, when checking my vehicle's 17-digit VIN, Honda's database excludes my car from the coverage range. This vehicle is suffering from the identical manufacturing defect and component failure outlined in bulletin 15-056, but I am locked out of the safety repair solely due to an arbitrary VIN database boundary. I am filing this report because the underlying safety defect clearly extends beyond Honda's designated VIN cut-off range.

2 Steering problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/29/2026

I own a 2023 Honda Accord touring hybrid. At approximately 42,000 miles, all of the warning lights illuminated while driving. The warnings included adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, lane departure warning, blind spot warning, parking collision warning, and multiple other system alerts. At the same time, I experienced a loss of electric power steering assist, increased steering resistance, and clicking/popping noises coming from the steering rack. The Honda dealer diagnosed the vehicle with a failed electric power steering (eps) steering rack and quoted nearly $5,000 for the repair. A critical steering component should not fail at such low mileage. This is a serious safety concern because the failure affects the driver's ability to safely control the vehicle. Similar steering components have been recalled on other Honda models, but the 2023 Honda Accord has not been included. I believe this defect should be investigated before it results in crashes or injuries.

3 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/26/2026

Subject of complaint: sudden, simultaneous failure of critical safety and driver assist systems originating from an electronic sensor/control module failure inside the electronic power steering (eps) gearbox. Description of safety hazard and dashboard indicators: while operating the vehicle, the driver information interface (dii) suddenly illuminated with multiple critical safety faults simultaneously. The primary indicator was the amber electric power steering (eps) system problem warning light (steering wheel icon with an exclamation point). Due to the electronic architecture of the vehicle, the loss of reliable data from the steering gearbox caused a cascading failure across the Honda sensing safety suite. The dashboard displayed a sequence of distinct system errors, explicitly disabling: lane keeping assist system (lkas) problem road departure mitigation system problem adaptive cruise control (acc) problem safety risk to occupants: the unexpected failure of the eps system immediately compromised the vehicle's handling characteristics, significantly increasing the steering effort required to control the vehicle. Furthermore, the simultaneous and total disabling of the lane keeping assist, road departure mitigation, and adaptive cruise control systems unexpectedly stripped away active crash-avoidance features. This sudden degradation of vehicle control and driver-assist capabilities creates an immediate, severe collision hazard on public roadways.

4 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/23/2026

When turning the steering wheel at low speeds or when not moving, creaking and popping noise can be heard coming from the lower front end of the vehicle. I was told by Honda service that there is a known issue and that Honda was working on a remedy for the problem.

The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no response was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 10,500.

8 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/02/2026

This event occurred after a history of abs system issues as well as infotainment system issues since 10k miles. During morning commute at approximately 60 mph, all dash warnings began to chime associated with the touring features of the sedan. Tpms, collision avoidance, braking system, lane departure, etc. And electric power steering. The steering wheel clicked and immediately became difficult to steer. I found a safe pullover point and managed to return the car safely the short distance home.

9 Steering problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/25/2026

The first time it happened, the power steering of the car suddenly stopped working while driving on the highway. Now it happens randomly and usually start with a quick jerking motion of the steering wheel. I've looked into this and lot of Honda Accord owners had this issue before. I want to file a complains on this and see if the NHTSA can do anything to have Honda address/fix this issue for me. Thanks,.

10 Steering problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/18/2026

Driving on highway 65mph steering wheel sticks and jerks the car side to side very scary almost ran into car next to me at that speed. I called the dealer to report it. I am waiting to bring vehicle in to diagnose. They stated that it is a known issue and that it is more than likely the electronic steering box rack and pinion.

11 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/17/2026

Brake system error and turbo and head gasket need to be changed. So may complaints about this. . .

12 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/12/2026

My husband was driving our 2022 Honda Accord home eastbound on [xxx] on Friday, [xxx] from oswego to saratoga springs from a funeral. It was extremely hot that day. It started to rain and he was going the speed limit and the steering locked up. He ended up doing at least one 360 possible two and then hit the guardrail. We never had a recall on our steering but a lot of issues while driving on the lane controls. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

13 Steering problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/11/2026

Before the collision, while turning left from a complete stop, the steering wheel suddenly became extremely stiff and would not turn normally. There were no dashboard warning lights (no eps, brake, or hybrid warnings). The steering problem occurred before impact and contributed to the head-on collision.

14 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/04/2026

The steering wheel became hard to turn randomly and the power steering problem warning came on but then went away. At one point the driver assist turned off and the lights were orange but then it went away too. It keeps happening when I'm parking. The steering wheel gets stiff and the warning comes on and goes away. There were no lights or warnings prior, just started happening randomly. This is recent and I have not yet got it inspected but it is available for inspection.

15 Steering problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2026

I was just driving normally when, completely out of nowhere, my whole dashboard suddenly lit up with a massive cluster of warning lights all at the exact same time. The power steering light, abs light, traction control (vsa), tire pressure light, and the main brake light all popped up instantly. The most confusing part is that my steering and brakes actually feel completely fine. There is mechanically nothing wrong with how the steering turns or how the brakes stop, but the car is flashing these major warnings anyway. It feels like a total electronic malfunction or a computer glitch where the car is falsely screaming that there's a catastrophic failure when everything is physically working fine.

16 Steering problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/28/2026

Upon taking hand off steering wheel car turns tires to the left all the way to the lock all by itself.

17 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/24/2026

Bought this car, drove it home and realized when I drove slow, or stopped and turned wheel it made a clink/creeking noise. Took it to Honda where I bought it, they said it was the "power steering rack" which is known to have issues. Told me it wasnt a safety issue and was safe to drive, they cannot replace it for free unless there is a recall. Looked up online and saw there was in fact recalls for this, just not my car. My 2024 only has 36k miles shouldnt already have issues with such low miles.

18 Steering problem of the 2016 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/19/2026

I am temporarily at [xxx]. The brake light on the dash will pop up in orange while driving and the steering wheel will turn from left to right at certain times while driving. I am not too close to another vehicle. The air bag indicator light flashes at times. The driver car seat will move forward when I unlock the vehicle at times. The trunk pops open at times after having been securely shut. I have had some work done on it at lucas tire and automotive in brewton, al. I have had personal property and money stolen out of it as well as paperwork containing personal information/financial information stolen. It’s created substantial loss from me. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

19 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/18/2026

My steering is a big issue. Yes it is available for inspection if only someone would actually listen and want to truly inspect my complaint. I have a 2024 Honda Accord ex with just over 18000 miles. I just got the car when it had 16390 miles , just bought it last month. The following day after purchase I went to work which requires me traveling on the interstate and I noticed it right away. . It doesnt know how to drive straight even when my hands are gripping the wheel with all I have in order to go straight while going 70 miles an hour. Any little adjustment I make, seems to over correct itself and any little change in pavement or uneven lanes or a small rock in the road will completely make my car bounce left and right im like a giant pingpong. Trust me everyday I am on the road I will look around and no cars will be near cause they are all trailing behind me afraid to pass me due to the inconsistent insane destructive driving of my car not me. Little due they know by now my hands are numb and im absolutely exhausted from gripping my steering wheel to prevent suddenly driving into the car beside me. Safety hazard is putting it nice. Its a death sentence that is insane to pay out of pocket for every month to have to endure what me and sooo many others are having to go through due to the negligence of another is pitiful and unacceptable. Shame on Honda for doing this to people who trusted and believed in you. In all honesty I pray that something is done immediately about this.

20 Steering problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/07/2026

Steering mechanisms stopped functioning properly. Steering wheel was very loosely turning to the left and very difficult to turn to the right. Car would veer to one direction when driving unless I was holding the wheel steady. Driving the car was dangerous and I pulled over immediately when I noticed the difference. Carefully brought it immediately to a mechanic and did not want it on the road. Driving the car put myself at risk, my children and husband and other drivers on the road. Luckily, I noticed it right away. There were no warning signs, no lights on the dashboard and all exterior looked normal. It happened spontaneously and was very scary. The vehicle has been inspected and driven by my local mechanic and he said the driving was crazy and is showing signs of a faulty steering rack.

21 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/30/2026

I am the owner of a 2024 Honda Accord sport hybrid. When driving at very low speeds, especially while parking or turning the steering wheel in tight maneuvers, the steering system produces a noticeable knocking and clunking noise. The noise can also be felt through the steering wheel. The vehicle was previously inspected by an authorized Honda dealer, and the steering gearbox (steering rack) was replaced under the factory warranty due to this issue. After approximately 20,000 miles, the exact same problem has returned. The condition is most noticeable at low speeds and during parking maneuvers when turning the steering wheel left or right. There are no warning lights or messages on the dashboard. The issue has been confirmed previously by a Honda dealer through the original warranty repair. Because the same steering-related problem has reappeared after replacement of a major steering component, I am concerned about the durability and safety of the steering system. I am submitting this complaint so that NHTSA can investigate whether the 2024 Honda Accord hybrid may have a recurring defect in the steering gearbox or related steering components.

22 Steering problem of the 2022 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/29/2026

I’ve had problems with my steering wheel ,I’ve taken many times to alignment n it always some how loses alignment but also my gears feel weird when I drive like it pulls a bit delayed and my dash is saying electrical steering problem ,n my car don’t be trying to turn on recently it doesn’t charge I guess.

23 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/26/2026

The steering on the '25 hybrid sport l is a little loose? even small movements make the car drift, and it's hard to keep it straight. The feels like the car won’t track straight. The lane keep assist does not work like the 10th gen. It’s like a ping pong bouncing off the lines. Who’s experiencing this as well.

24 Steering problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/23/2026

Eps steering rack assembly and gear box is making noises. Car was inspected by a licensed Honda repair center on 4/23/26 and was told that that this assembly will need to be replaced at a $4,900. 00 estimate. This could put our family at risk if the steering or gear box fails during use. Vehicle has just over 50k miles. According to Honda's own "tech line summary article", dated 3/20/26, this is a known problem and effecting thousands of vehicles with no permanent solution.

25 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/20/2026

The steering feels notchy or sticky around center when making small adjustments near the center of the wheel, even with lkas off.

26 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/16/2026

I was driving on the freeway, no contact, I was taking a slight turn left and then my car buckled I lost full control of the car for a moment and the I gained it back but the whole steering wheel was misaligned.

27 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/09/2026

The steering rack makes noise and lots of Honda Accord owners are complaining about this. The noise comes when stopped or driving slow it makes cracking noise when steering and when you are driving at highway speeds the steering doesn’t stay aligned. And unfortunately I have been hearing this noise for a long time since I got the car brand new but never took it serious and when I started realizing this is a major issue my car is out of warranty and I would have to pay out of pocket for a defective part.

28 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/05/2026

Rack and pinion creaking while driving steering and breaking clicking sound underneath driver flooring.

29 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

Rack and pinion loud creaking, popping, or crunching noise, particularly at low speeds or while parking.

30 Steering problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/01/2026

Steering wheel is clicking due to the steering rack malfunctions by the manufacture.

31 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/26/2026

The steering has been 'sticky' or 'notchy' since the vehicle was a few months old. With lane keeping off, driving in a straight line, when I perform a small steering input, it feels like the steering wheel is locked. . . When I push harder, it begins to act normally again. Nhtsa recall 24v744 actually describes the symptom much better than I can. I have had the vehicle now 9 months and every time this happens, my heart skips a beat. I have complained to the dealer once, they burned half tank of fuel and told me 'its fine'. Next time I brought it for service, I complained again. . . Because it is a safety issue. . . They said they would have to charge me to look at it. . . On a 9mo old vehicle. I'm scared to drive this vehicle because when will the steering completely fail and the car will crash?.

32 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/21/2026

Around 20,000 miles my car began having faint metallic clanking/clicking sounds turning left and recoiling back to the left under 15 miles an hour and while parked. My lane mitigation, see dealer light turned on for 5 minutes while backing in to a spot then turned off. No issues steering just noise. Glad I am not deaf and I know better because it was a very easy and quiet noise to ignore or miss. My steering is fine now but does not steer as thin and smoothly as before— not like any Honda steering I’ve encountered or when I first bough the car. Feels more stiff now but very drivable on the highway although repaired under warranty, there are hundreds of facebook, reddit, and even nhsta complaints of steering rack issues for 11th gen Accords that have fallen on deaf ears. I am fortunate to have my problem fixed in a relatively quick manner and helpful Honda staff. I am concerned because I hear people complaining this problem coming back after 4-10k miles later. This is a major safety issue in the principle of it all. It is ridiculous that type rs and acuras can get recalled steering racks but not Accord hybrid owners, some waiting 0-5 years for a steering rack recall while owners having to change them out like clockwork on their own dime outside of 36/36k. This is costing people money in tire degradation that Honda doesn't cover, mental stress, and it tarnishes the name of Honda if they don’t actively work to fix their mistake. Nhtsa should have a duty to put pressure on Honda to stop producing Accords, pilots, type rs, acuras, odysseys, etc with steering racks that don't work. Email me if you want service records, its not letting me load them. Steering rack and gear replaced recheck fine. Clock reel was making noise, cable reel was replaced and no more noise. Front tires are at 4/32nds, backs are at 6/32nds— bought at same time with car. 4 wheel total alignment was done. I have video of the clicking sound.

33 Steering problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

2025 Honda Accord hybrid experiences a severe, loud knocking noise when turning the steering wheel while stationary or at low speeds. The dealership attempted to grease the components but the mechanical knock remains. This is a known eps/steering rack defect on the 11th generation Accord and poses a steering failure/binding safety risk at highway speeds.

34 Steering problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/18/2026

When steering there is noise coming out. When parking or turning wheel all the way to one side it makes weird noise. I see so many complaints about this.

35 Steering problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/17/2026

Reporting severe dealer negligence and physical structural damage during secondary repairs for federal safety recall 20v-769 / campaign w9f at darcars Honda (fairfax, va). The technician severely violated Honda TSB 20-125 protocols, physically mushrooming the steel on the left lower control arm (lca) boss. This blunt-force mechanical damage compromises the structural integrity of the suspension and creates a high probability of out-of-spec ovality in the steering knuckle/mating bore, creating an ongoing dynamic safety hazard. Please see the attached formal documentation and photographic evidence for full details.
