1. Power steering rack 2. Abs modulator my 2015 Honda Accord experienced a sudden failure of both the abs system and power steering rack. The dealership confirmed the failure was not due to neglect or wear. Due to the safety risk the repair estimate exceeding $14,000 for the safety system and regular repairs, I was forced to trade in the vehicle. Honda denied goodwill assistance on the safety systems (power steering rack & abs modulator) November 17, 2025 saying vehicle is out of warranty and cited value and year of the vehicle. I was the only owner of vehicle and only serviced at balise Honda of west warwick and/or johnston ri.

When driving at low speeds there is a knocking noise when turning from one direction to the other. This issue can also be replicated while stopped. No safety issues have resulted from this issue, but can foresee this becoming a more severe problem in the near future.

The steering sticks and over turns making the car go all over the place. When parked, the steering makes alot of noises when you turn the steering wheel.
The dealer replaced some steering components around 25-30k miles. The problem with the steering sticking and locking up as never stopped. The dealer is saying it's the gearbox. I have 45,000 miles, now the dealer wants to charge me $4,000 to replace the gear box. It should be covered under a recall or replaced when I first took the car in for repair, while it was under warranty.

Driving and without warning steering light came on, display flickered, engine surged, and complete loss of steering in a matter seconds. I was barely able to turn car onto a driveway where the engine shutdown. I restarted engine and noticed considerable knocking, put car in gear and engine shut-off. I had car towed to a garage and am waiting for info. I should note that the previous month there has been some parasitic draw that requires me to jump start the car every few days even with a new battery.

My 2025 Honda Accord hybrid (approx. 37,500 miles) has developed a dangerous steering defect identical to the widely known 'sticky steering' issue affecting the 2022-2025 civic and cr-v. The safety incident: while driving at highway speeds (45-70 mph), the steering wheel physically 'sticks' or 'locks' in the center position. To make minor lane corrections, I must apply abnormal force to break the wheel free, causing it to 'snap' or jerk suddenly. This leads to overcorrection and an inability to maintain a safe, straight line in my lane. This 'stiction' worsens after the vehicle warms up (20+ minutes of driving). The component: this exhibits the exact symptoms of a defective worm gear/steering gearbox assembly (swelling of internal components due to heat), which is currently under recall/investigation for other Honda models. Dealer response: the dealer wyler Honda of florence (ky) confirmed the symptoms but refused a warranty repair because the vehicle is 1,500 miles past the 36k limit, despite this being a known manufacturing safety defect. They requested a diagnostic fee to inspect a safety hazard. I am reporting this to force a recall for the 2025 Accord, as it clearly shares the defective steering rack components found in the recalled civic/cr-v/integra models.
While driving my 2019 Honda Accord, after about five minutes on the road, multiple warning lights suddenly appeared on the dashboard. The emission system, brake system, power steering, tpms, acc, hill start assist, collision mitigation, and vehicle stability assist warnings all came on at the same time. The alerts caused concern for safety, as several major systems such as steering assist, braking, and driver-assist features appeared to malfunction simultaneously. The issue seems related to an electrical or charging system failure (such as the alternator or battery), since all of these systems rely on stable voltage to operate correctly. The incident occurred without warning and could have resulted in loss of steering assist or engine power while driving.

The vehicle at speed from 40mph and upwards has sticky steering issues that require potential overcorrection from the driver to maintain the vehicle on a straight path. When the driver attempts to make subtle in-lane corrections to keep the vehicle on a straight path, the driver is unable to make small adjustments without the steering making larger adjustments and having to over-correct (ex. If the driver wanted to move the steering wheel 0. 5mm, the steering wheel only moves in 1mm increments). Additionally, on following curves that require the driver to adjust the steering wheel about 3-10 degrees in either direction, the steering wheel will stick and not naturally straighten out. The Honda dealership of chantilly, va was able to replicate the issue and was not able to give any reason or develop a path to a solution for the owner to safely operate this Honda. There are also no warning lights or signals, I have also attempted most driving conditions (hot and cold temperatures, all speeds, and different highways), with and without driver assistance programs activated, heated steering wheel on and off, and different steering wheel adjustment positions to attempt to solve the issue at hand. These issues appeared shortly after purchase of the vehicle in late October 2025 and this issue happens on a daily basis. This steering issue presents as a safety issue due to the driver not being able to smoothly steer and having to over-correct for the steering malfunction. In any driving environment, the driver should expect to have a smooth driving experience to promote safety among all drivers on the roads. Additionally, this steering issue may be related to the already diagnosed issue of Honda gearboxes malfunctioning in previous model years. I have uploaded a service record from the Honda of chantilly dealership that includes the mileage and complaint from owner.
I was driving and the skid, brake, abs and steering light came on. I was with my kids so I immediately slowed down and contacted my mechanic. We initially thought it would be a sensor. After hooking it up, it was detected to be the abs brake module. After further research this is a “normal” issue. A new module is expensive $2500 with the dealer and is on back order for 3 months. We have shipped the module to CA (I’m in TN) to get it “repaired”. I have been without a car for 3weeks and still waiting. This is insane and should be recalled. I hope the “repair” fixes the issue.

Issue is intermittant, however extremely dangerous. Vehicle steers to the right until it cannot go further without any intervention with the steering wheel. Upon a right turn the vehicle will not return to center steering. If this is occuring vehcile will turn very quickly if your hands come off the steeering wheel for any amount of time.

While I was driving down the road with my foot on the gas pedal, without any notice whatsoever, my brakes began to jitter/shake and my steering wheel got stuck/tight and would not move. At this point, my car immediately makes a complete stop in the middle of the road and warning lamps appear such as; brake system problem, engine light, etc. I immediately turned on my hazard lights so cars behind me would go around me. Luckily, I was close to a curb and tugged on my stiff steering wheel and managed to park my car alongside the curb on the street. I called the Honda dealership and they said my car was unsafe to drive and needed to be repaired. I immediately took my car to the Honda dealership to get repaired. This malfunction could have caused an accident putting myself and others safety at risk as my car made an immediate complete stop on it's own and my steering wheel got stiff/hard to move making it hard to steer. There were no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms of the problem prior to the failure.

Steering binds or sticks while steering wheel is on center requiring diligence to maintain the vehicle's course. The steering also will periodically act as if the road departure system is engaged even when that feature and lane assist are turned off. The vehicle will dart to the right, but not to the left. Vehicle front suspension was re-aligned, but problems still persists.
My steering rack started making a ticking noise every time I turn my wheel at 3 thousand miles. I talk to the delar tech about it he said we have alot of issues with those they can replace under warranty but still its gonna start marking the same noise because they dont have a permanent solution for it.
As I am driving the steering becomes sticky and can be hard to turn the wheel. As a result my alignment is now off on my brand new Accord and I have researched and it seems ro be a widespread issue. I would like for Honda to find a permanent solution so that we do not experience a sudden loss in steering or an issue where we may have to jerk the wheel especially on the expressway where it could potentially lead to a loss of control at high speeds.
All lights have popped up on dash. Stayed on for 2 days back in July and then went off. Came back on 2 days ago (oct 5th) and have not went off yet. Lka, cruise control, parking brake light, tpms, traction control, and engine light.

The steering sticks and the assisted steering goes on and off without warning making it dangerous driving. Almost caused a collision. Steering light comes on and off. It sounds like the recall of the steering issue found on other Honda Accords for 2014 of other vins.

This is an addendum to complaint number 11700647, and attaches the latest service and repair record of 10/10/25.
The steering is "jerky" and stiff. The lkas is off and so is sport mode. I've had this same issue on a previous Honda and the steering gear box needed to be replaced. It feels very unsafe to drive like this. I have attempted to take it to the dealership already and they state they do not feel it and the vehicle is performing as designed. It's still persistent to the point I almost side swiped someone on the freeway today from the sudden jerk while trying to keep straight. I will be taking it back to the dealership ASAP.
All lights related to tire pressure, sterring control, vehicle stability assist and abs comes up in dash board. The abs control module suddenly fails because of very bad design and manufacturing (just dry solderings!). Search ebay, one can find so many offering services to repair this failed abs control module. For replacement ot costs 3500. This looks like is common failure. Very dangerous to drive with that failed abs control module. Why is this not in a recall yet?.
Steering is very hard to turn. The car is not drivable.
The contact owns a 2013 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while attempting to complete a left turn, the vehicle inadvertently lost motive power. The contact was able to coast into a nearby parking lot, where the failure persisted. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was diagnosed with failures with the driveshaft and steering gearbox. The driveshaft was repaired at that time. The contact stated that while leaving the independent mechanic at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle suddenly veered to the left, prompting the contact to immediately return the vehicle to the independent mechanic. The contact was advised to take the vehicle to the dealer for assistance. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, who diagnosed a failure with the steering gearbox. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, a case was opened, and the contact was referred to the NHTSA hotline for assistance. The failure mileage was 160,000.
Wiring harness failed randomly at 42,000 with no damage to the harness, engine, or vehicle itself. Without the wiring harness the engine does not run properly and shakes violently, causing the car to lose power. This happened with no prior warnings, problems, or damage. Additionally the steering rack seems “loose” and changes direction quite quickly when hitting a pothole or uneven roads even at lower speeds. I have to make sure I constantly have a firm grip on the wheel so no sudden unexpected direction changes occur due to imperfections in the road.
The contact's daughter owns a 2024 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact's daughter drove the vehicle to the shoulder of the road. The vehicle was towed to the dealer, where it was diagnosed with steering box failure. The contact's daughter was informed that the steering box needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
I was sitting in my car, and the entire steering and brake system went offline and the car had a bunch of hazard lights on and said to tow to a dealership. I tested the steering, and didn’t feel the wheels turn with the steering wheel, and the brakes went to the floor. When I went to shut off my car, it did the emergency shut-off (press 2xs or hold for 3 seconds). I attempted to restart the car about 4 times that night, and then I let it sit and tried it again 2 more times before having it towed to the dealership. The dealership stated they received the car and everything was suddenly fine and there were no code history, and they could not tell me the issue. Prior to this, the only issue I had was the car braking when no one was in front of me, but no issues with the steering wheel. With the entire brake system and steering system out, it could have caused a serious accident if I was driving at the time, but I was parked.
This Honda continues to have fantom alerts and false warnings that triggers the car to jerk the steering wheel and try to steer you into another lane. I have narrowly avoided crashes more than 50 times. No "safety" system should be able to jerk the wheel out of your hands. You have know for more than 5 years about this defect, why no action? shameful mismanagement that now needs to sued to get a reaction.

My Honda Accord is now difficult to drive due to tendency of steering wheel to cycle to the right at sporadic or random intervals. On more than three occasions, simply starting the car resulted in the steering wheel spinning to the right more than one full turn on it's own without my touching the steering wheel. The uncontrolled steering is more prevalent at lower speeds under 25 or 30 mph and is even more challenging in close parking situations. Although I have driven the car without this problem for approximately 8 years, with the sudden onset of issues last month, the Honda dealer claims this recall is not covered on my VIN number due to the car being repossessed from the former owner who inflicted significant interior damage which totaled the car. By the time I purchased the car the interior was in pristine and newly repaired condition with a salvage title. To my knowledge and experience the car has never been involved in any wreck. Dealer would like approx. $4600 from me to make the repairs to the electronic steering gearbox which would normally be covered under the current recall (which expires next year for my 2013).
System charging error prompts on the dash board continuously. Check my battery and it’s not my battery. Steering wheel light turned on and car began to lock and the whole dashboard started to flicker while I was driving . I was driving and my steering wheel locked on me always causing an accident. I tried getting a jump and my battery is fine. Then when I try to move the vehicle the steering wheel starts to lock up. My radio even started to reset and glitch and my system was shutting back on and off while I was driving.
I was driving and all of a sudden my steering wheel started steering on its own quickly to the right and it was very difficult to keep control of the steering wheel couldn’t keep control and car was going against traffic and merging into other vehicles. When I finally came to a stop the steering wheel still moved on its own. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request. The safety of myself and my children is at risk while driving the car, it could cause major damage to other vehicles and structures and harm to us. The problem was inspected by Honda dealer and advised there is an extended warranty on eps and confirmed that the eps malfunction and needs to be replaced, but was advised that american Honda will not honor the warranty because there are no system codes coming up, there where no warnings, lights on dash, noises or anything indicating eps failure. Car has always been taken for maintenance and repairs at a certified Honda dealer, american Honda will not take responsibility for the dangerous and deadly malfunction.
With longer drives the steering wheel sticks while trying to make minor corrections to maintain going straight. When it does turn to make a small correction it tends to drift right or left, without actually being able to make the car go straight. The stickiness of the steering makes center impossible.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that upon starting the vehicle, the steering wheel was extremely firm, with the power steering assist disabled. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer, where it was diagnosed, and the contact was informed that the steering gearbox and the rack and pinion were faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.
The contact owned a 2019 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the computer system failed. The contact stated that the traction control, tire pressure warning system, and several unknown warning lights were illuminated. The contact stated that the power steering seized, and the tires slipped. In addition, the brake pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to stop as intended. The contact attempted to steer the vehicle onto the shoulder of the road. The contact’s vehicle crashed into a metal wall several times. The contact sustained injuries to the left shoulder and his neck. In addition, the contact sustained multiple bruises and bumps. The contact received medical treatment from the contact’s primary care physician. The vehicle was towed to a local tow yard. An independent mechanic connected a scanner to the black box, and the vehicle's computer displayed a warning. The vehicle was not repaired. In addition, the vehicle was condemned total loss. A police report was filed. The contact obtained the black box and was seeking assistance with collecting the stored data. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.
Ride quality is so bad and uncomfortable I am struggling to drive it straight and makes me so tired been in service 3 times for this issue and everyone says they can replicate the issue. Even bought brand new tires and doing the same.
