5 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2007 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/18/2019

I had to replace rear suspension within first year & Honda dealer told me is very common; bad suspension on 07 Hondas, but once replaced will last forever-so why not a factory defect!? then at 3 years something in front suspension, same story. Now the vtc actuator needs replacement-rumbling noise at startup for less than a minute, which I'm finding out is the case with a lot of Hondas now, old & brand new. Old Hondas used to last; used to be excellent & all I've driven past 25 years. Now the Honda brand is unreliable - loyal Honda owners like me, after 25 years driving only Honda, are switching brands. Honda is not the reliable car it once was. I will never buy Honda again because of major problems I had on my 07 right from the start (I bought my 07 Honda brand new in 08) & had problems I never saw before in the past even with 15+-year old Hondas.

My vehicle engine rpm's raises as much as 500 to 700 more than idle, when moving at slow speeds of 10 mph or stopped. Had it checked by sunny king Honda in oxford alabama, they said it could be the pcm which is under recall for this type of vehicle for ones made prior to sept 2010. My vehicle was made in December 2010. This happens all the time and cause the vehicle to speed up when moving at slow or stopped speed. Just wondering if this had been reported by anyone else. 15 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/30/2017

While driving at about 55 mph on route I-287 in morristown, NJ, the car began to shake badly and the engine made a loud rumbling noise. I got the car to my local service station in morristown, where my mechanic told me that one of my spark plugs had failed to function, having been badly oil fouled. He replaced the spark plug and said the computer scanner showed code p0303 misfire cylinder #3. He also noted that Honda has a service campaign for piston ring replacement initiated in 2013 to correct the problem. I brought the car to Honda on Monday, February 13. They replaced 3 of the 4 spark plugs in question (1 having already been replaced) and updated the car's computer program, calling that step one in solving the problem. The Honda service manager explained that Honda's protocol for this is to update the software and replace spark plugs and then wait to see if it happens again. (I later confirmed this protocol by phone with Honda America. ) lacking that, Honda will not reimburse the dealership if they do the repair, but this fix seems to work about half the time. When the service campaign was initiated in 2013, I was not notified. Clearly, Honda recognized that there was a problem of oil leaking into the cylinders but did not issue a recall, as I believe they should have. In my case, my engine failed while I was driving at high speed on a major highway. This is not something I would like to happen again, but my local mechanic says it definitely will happen again, because Honda did not fix the problem. Replacing spark plugs is no more than a band aid. I'm left with a serious and expensive problem, and Honda's intention is to skirt the real issue by risking my safety in order to avoid accountability.

24 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2011 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/18/2014

I purchased this vehicle in February 2015. The first thing that I had to fix was the axle ( output shaft ) seal leak which the Honda dealer did not want to repair even though the car only had 62,000. Also, it makes a loud noise in the back when I go over the speed bump which is coming from the suspension. In addition, whenever I took the vehicle to ntb for an oil change. The mechanic told me that the rear main seal needs to be replaced because it is starting to leak motor oil. And again, the Honda dealer does not want to honor the powertrain warranty on my vehicle despite the low mileage it has. Seems like I need to file a lawsuit against them.

26 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/20/2014

Purchased vehicle 5/8/2014. Driving home and I called my husband and stated that the car sounded like crap--wasnt shifting correctly and just had a horrible sound coming from engine. He stated we will check oil and transmission fluid when you get home. To find no oil or transmission on either. We immediately contacted dealer we purchased from and we had it towed there for attention. Car dealer changed oil(which wasn't much) and transmission fluid were "fine". Passing the buck! we continued to keep an eye on it to find we are putting quarts of oil in it. It has had 3 oil changes in less than 6 months and not due to mileage---due to each place we took it to-dealer-changed oil, jiffy lube-changed oil-Honda-changed oil and started "oil consumption" test. I have checked oil in my cars, since I was 16 years old. Honda stating "it's normal"--it's not normal to have to keep adding oil to your car between one oil change to another, due to mileage only. You can visually see oil everywhere on the engine block and laying on other components of the engine. Fix the car!!!!!!.

27 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/08/2014

I recently had a very serious issue with my 2013 Honda Accord regarding unintended acceleration. While pulling into a parking spot at a garden nursery I applied the brakes but they did not respond in anyway, the engine then revved up making a loud noise, the car lunged forward over several railroad tie barriers, bushes, hit a truck that was parked in the lot and came to rest in a mulch pile. Luckily the truck and mulch stopped the car and I was able to put it into park and turn it off. There is considerable amount of damage to the side of my car and the property of the nursery. This happened on may 8, 2014 at 5:00 pm. It was a gravel parking lot, dry sunny day. This Honda was purchased new in 2013 and is a 4cyl with cvt transmission and has approximately 13,000 miles. The car had to be towed to the dealership where it sits now waiting for a Honda representative to investigate this issue. It was a blessing that no one was standing in front of my car. Much of my decision to purchase a Honda was because of reliability and safety; however, I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. This is my first Honda and I am thoroughly disappointed and alarmed after this incident.

30 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/13/2010

Around 4:45 p. M. , Thursday, March 11, 2010, I took my 08 Honda Accord to goodson Honda I-45 north, houston, texas, because at approximately 30,000 miles loud noises was coming from the rear of the vehicle. It appeared that I was having serious brake problems. After an inquiry of the brakes quality and performance, the service advisor, carl reed confirmed that the rear brake shoes would be replaced with a better quality. He informed me that Hondas corporate office had selected a new company that would provide better quality, and longer life spans of their brake shoes and pads. In addition, Hondas technician had to replace the front brake pads at approximately 20,000 miles. The qualities of the brake system using low quality brake pads and shoes have proven to be a nuisance for owners. The service advisor, carl reed, drove the vehicle to the rear of customer service and it stayed hidden for about 20 minutes. Then one of Hondas rouge technicians, jose terdomo, drove the vehicle inside the service area where it was visible from a window. He kept the hood of the vehicle open as he removed the rear brake shoes. Around 6:10 repairs were completed, and I checked the vehicle out at 6:19. When I turned the air condition on after departing from goodson Honda service department, contaminated air flowing from the vents initiated an immediate respiratory discomfort. While venturing back and forth to work Friday, 03/12/2010, the air quality that flowed from the vent was unfit for humans to breathe. As it flowed from the air condition vents, it permeated the air with dangerous nanoparticles, lethal chemicals, and irritant gases compressed with tetrafluoroethane (r-134a). This dangerous mixture quickly attacks the respiratory and central nervous systems with its lethal combination. If you need further information, please feel free to contact me.

31 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/01/2009

Every single day when I start up my 2008 Honda Accord 4 cycl. Automatic from a cold start there is a horrible noise (rattle) from what sounds like the engine. The Honda dealership in waldorf, MD has tried to fix this problem 3 or 4 times. Now they say they won't try to fix it anymore, even though the problem still exists. I've been told by Honda that it is the vtc actuator and it is a defective part. Til this day 5/15/15, I have not been able to get the issue resolved. The problem started about a year after I got the car. It is the only annoying and unnerving problem with my Honda. Why can't this issue be resolved? I found all these complaints in the Honda technical service bulletin and have been fighting this issue with Honda ever since. Obviously Honda knows about it. At cold start-up, customers may complain about a loud engine rattle that lasts for about two seconds. The probable cause is a faulty vtc (variable timing control) actuator. This applies to all 2008 Accord l4 (two/four door) vehicles, 2009 Accord l4 two-door VIN 1hgcs1¦9a000001 through 1hgcs1¦9a004953, 2009 Accord l4 four-door VIN 1hgcp2¦9a000001 through 1hgcp2¦9a029528, and 2009 Accord l4 four-door VIN jhmcp2¦9c000001 through jhmcp2¦9c010096.
