1 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/01/2017

Initial problem with push button start - would not start on first push. Started at about 55k mileage. Problem has worsened - may start on first push, but sometimes takes many pushes in combination with brake release and depressing or just pushing without touching the brake - then braking and pushing. Very intermittent in terms of how many pushes - sometimes just a couple, sometime 10 or more! now at just under 60k mileage, car cannot be trusted. Error codes come up as 85-01 vsa system malfunction and 61-11 vsa modulator control unit power source circuit (ic) low voltage and b-1240 - a problem in the mode control linkage door or motor. These error codes do not seem related to the push button start issue, but is another problem to investigate and fix. The push button problem happens to many people and Honda is aware of it. My mechanic called his inside contact at the local dealer and they keep starters on hand for this. They will not handle as a warranty or 'recall' type problem and one has to pay a lot for the fix - starter replacement can be close to $1k!! another Honda contact knows of this issue - it is because the starter on the Accord, especially the 2. 4l engine, is mounted below the exhaust manifold, heats up significantly and begins to fail - depends more on the # of starts than mileage, apparently. My Accord is started many times per day. This issue should be fixed under a recall event, I believe, but I must get mine fixed now!!! not good! also a problem from day 1, is the forward warning camera gets hot, here in southern cal, and will not work until the ac system cools it down. Very unsafe and worthy of further review as well.

2 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/28/2013

Car started burning oil at 100,000 miles. Tail pipe is full of black soot. I have to put 2 quarts of oil in the car every 700 miles. Car has been regularly maintained. On June 28, 2013, at 148,000 miles, the gears started slipping as I was driving. The drive light in the dash started blinking. Car would not shift gears properly. Reverse would not work. Mechanic stated transmission needs to be rebuilt - costing $2,800. I thought Honda's were supposed to last longer than this. I've already complained to Honda about the car burning oil but they said that is normal. What other options are there? does anyone want to get a class action lawsuit together? I've read about many instances where the motor burns oil and the transmission fails, even way earlier than mine has. It's too bad it would take a fatality for Honda to respond.

3 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/05/2011

My Accord is using a quart of oil about every 1500 - 2000 miles and more than 2 quarts every 3000 miles. There is no oil dripping on the floor and the engine is clean; however, there is no blue smoke coming out of the tail pipe. I am aware of a federal class action lawsuit and have also read that Honda did acknowledge a problem (quietly) in 2011. I will be contacting Honda tomorrow to hear what they say.

4 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/30/2011

Vehicle has been consuming oil since purchased with 9,500 miles. Oil consumption has contributed to fouled spark plugs. Fouled spark plugs triggered "cylinder #3 misfire" code and extremely poor performance at highway speeds. Two different occasions the car experienced different cylinder misfire issues. Honda dealer performed engine computer software updates on two different occasions that did not remedy the oil consumption issue. No warning lights to indicate that the engine was 3 quarts low on oil. If the consumer is not aware that the vehicle is using oil, there is potential for the engine to seize causing costly repairs or to lose power in a dangerous situation. Dealer is now performing Honda oil consumption test. According to Honda, consuming 1 quart of oil in 1,000 miles is normal and acceptable. This burned oil is being released into the environment as evidenced by the black carbon on the tail pipes. It is hard to believe that a leading car manufacturer would deem oil consumption in a brand new vehicle as normal or acceptable. This is the first vehicle out of 12 that I have ever owned that consumed oil. Even vehicles with over 200,000 miles did not consume oil. I purchased a Honda so that I did not have to worry about reliability or break downs for many years. Now I have to worry with checking the oil every week as to not get low or run out. Same vehicle has also had premature rear brake pad wear and had to be replaced at 60,000 miles. Complaint has been filed with american Honda. Class action lawsuits have been filed against Honda over the premature rear brake pad wear and the oil consumption issues.

5 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/11/2011

The check engine light has given me a problem about 3 months after I purchased it used in 2011. Since then I have had the muffler fixed twice just recently March 22,2016 cost was $422 and prior in 2014. . The check engine light just keeps coming on ,and the vehicle inspection is failing because of emissions. I am fearful that odorless gasses are seeping into the car which is a hazard to myself and passangers.

6 Manifold/header/muffler/tail Pipe problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/04/2010

Purchased a 2010 Honda in January 2010. We experienced excessive oil usage and yellow warning light on intermittently. We requested an oil change at 4,500 miles and were told not to change the first oil until the oil life showed 15%. While traveling, at approximately 7,500 miles, the vehicle oil life indicator showed about 40% use although the vehicle had no oil showing on the dipstick. The exhaust pipes were blackened. Oil was added and we were told there could be engine damage. We returned to the Honda dealer who we purchased the vehicle from who advised us if the oil usage was less than a quart every 1,000 miles oil use was not excessive. We were told the car was fine and the tail pipes were not a problem. We continue to have to add oil between oil changes.
