36 Paint problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/02/2016

Paint bubbles on the front roof near the windshield has resulted in windshield seal to disintegrate and leak water when it rains. Can't run the car through carwash! expect the water leak to damage internal electronics in the near future.

The paint falls off and turns yellow. The car is garage kept and I only use high quality car wash materials. I was told it was normal for a six year old garage kept car to change colors and the paint fall off. Normal wear and tear they said.

40 Paint problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/19/2015

I own a 2004 Honda Accord that has experience major paint chipping. The problem occurs across the entire body of the car: the hood, the roof, and the trunk are all peeling away. While the car is 10 years old, the paint would not be described as "normal wear and tear. " Honda recently made an announcement about the paint problem under an extended warranty but only under specific VIN numbers. My issue is that my car clearly has a problem with the paint, a problem that was acknowledged by the company, but is not being amended by the company. I would just like to get it on record that there might be a problem with 2004 Honda Accords and the paint used on them. Thank you for your time.

43 Paint problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2014

I purchased my 2009 Honda Accord brand new from a Honda dealership. The paint on my car is now peeling on the hood, roof, trunk, and around the back window. I took it to a Honda dealer and they took pictures and at the same time tried telling me it appeared as if something got on the car. There's no clear coat left on the car. I'm so frustrated with Honda. I take good care of my vehicles and have had Hondas in the past. I'm completely disappointed in the way I've been treated by Honda and their inablility to help. I think this is my last and final Honda.

46 Paint problem of the 2014 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/20/2014

The contact owns a 2014 Honda Accord. While driving at an unknown speed, the contact heard an abnormal squeaking noise coming from the vehicle. When turning the steering wheel, there was an abnormal chiming noise. The contact also noticed bubbles on the windshield, which eventually cracked, and the exterior paint was bubbling. Additionally, the suspension and engine made abnormal cracking and hissing noises. The vehicle was taken to rick case Honda (157000 rick case Honda way, davie, FL 33331) where it was diagnosed that the squeaking noise was due to the transmission needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. All the other issues had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the transmission issue and provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 60,000.

47 Paint problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/01/2014

I purchased my Honda Accord ex with 7 miles on it, and noticed over a year, possibly longer, that the paint was peeling. When I asked the dealership about it they stated it was because of epa laws making the paints less effective. I also spent the extra money to have the car simonized to ensure the paint which was a waste of money.

50 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/15/2013

I have just noticed the paint on my car is fading down to the body, this will cause rust and eventually a dangerous situation. I went online to find a solution, ive noticed there is a class action lawsuit possibly in the works (where we all know only the lawyers will have any benefits) yet the consumer, who were sold an inferior faulty product will have to settle for being ripped of by an "untouchable" corporation.

55 Paint problem of the 1999 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/28/2012

During the regularly scheduled maintenance for this vehicle, I was told the sub-frame had eroded to the point where the vehicle was too dangerous to drive. As this was a northern car, I expected a certain amount of rust and there had been some paint corrosion. The mechanics stated they had never seen such an extreme erosion of the sub-frame and suggested I contact Honda to determine if this had been reported and recalled, particularly since it had the potential to be such a hazard. Honda stated they have not heard of such defects and there have been no recalls. I do not understand how this is possible since the sub-frame should not rust through, particularly since it jeopardizes the integrity of the entire vehicle operation.

56 Paint problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/12/2012

This is a really appalling situation regarding our Honda. The paint started peeling for no apparent reason and not it looks like a car with leprosy. . . I have already replaced the transmission to the tune of $3,500. 00 with no help from Honda after selling my 2001 Ford f-150 and now they say they don't have any paint problems. I beg to differ. The quote I have to have it re-painted is $2,500. 00. If Honda cares this little about their customer's experience, I will never own another one of these pieces of shit. . .

57 Paint problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

61 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/31/2011

My Honda Accord 2003 has the clear coat of the paint coming off. The locations right now are the hood and the roof of the car. The car has been kept out of the sun under a carport. I've read where several people have had the same exact problem with the defective clear coat. I believe that Honda should repaint my car for free.

62 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/01/2011

The paint or clear coating is peeling from roof, hood and trunk area of the car. Looks like crap. It keeps getting worse and worse.

63 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/13/2011

Since the purchase i’ve experienced continual transmission problems. Upon speaking with the dealership I was assured all was fine. You can imagine my surprise when I received notice of the transmission recall (NHTSA 04v176000). Upon repair, in September 2004, I did not notice repair improvement, and continued to detect the rough grind of transmission shift and a whining sound. In 2009 I experienced a catastrophic transmission failure to which I had sought repair. In December 2010 I experienced another transmission failure. I have just now experienced my 3rd transmission failure, July 2011. My power steering pump had always had a faint whine, but Honda services never identified it as concerning. The problem progressively became worse until Honda finally suggested a repair, but informed me that the component was then out of warranty and would be a costly repair. I decided to delay repair until June 2011. Ac problems manifested in September 2005 and required replacement in April 2008. My center council clock and temperature display has been flickering, dimmed, and absent since 2009. The interlock stuck issue first materialized in 2008 and serviced in July 2010. My airbag warning light has been active since 2008 with an occasional but repetitive tcs alert; and my headlamp glass has been hazed since 2005. The paint deterioration is ridiculously embarrassing, the leather seating began showing wear 2 years in, my seatbelt doesn’t return to the original released position, head liner has water leak stains, cd player stopped working, exposed wiring is visible at the driver door hinge, i’ve gone through 3 batteries, countless tires, one cracked windshield, and I have always suffer from poor radio reception and occasional navigational signal roaming issues. In these times of thrift conscious fuel consumption, I utilize my nav tools to monitor my driving activity. I’m stunned to report I get a fuel economy of 24 mpg highway, not the 31 mpg as sticker reports.

64 Paint problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

The paint is peeling off in huge areas. I have a '94 Buick that has no paint issues and has been outside its whole life. This '02 Accord has been garaged its whole life and should not have this problem.

65 Paint problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/01/2011

On January 2, 2004 we purchased a Honda Accord ex. The car is red in color. Total cost was $25,998. 50. We have enjoyed this car since we purchased it and about 6 months ago we made the decision to replace the timing belt. That was on April 8, 2011 as the mileage neared 100,000. Since that time (probably in may 2011) we started to notice some peeling on the front above the windshield and also some around the rear window. It has gotten worse with each passing day. Had we known this was going to happen we would not have replaced the timing belt. We now have a Honda in great mechanical condition that looks awful. It seems that Honda when contacted blames the environment for these problems even though we don't see the cars made by other manufacturers having complaints about a paint peeling issue. Honda has changed its paint process to save money and now the consumer is going to suffer the cost of repair or a car that looks like a junker. We are very upset that this was not a recall by Honda. There are so many Honda owners with this problem and they have documented these problems online.

66 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/01/2011

Body paint on the Honda Accord is fading in patches across various areas of the vehicle. I was unsure of the cause of this issue until seeing photos online of other Honda vehicles from that same time period with similar damage. Websites blame the problem on Honda's primer/paint from the period when the cars were manufactured. I believe the carmaker should cover the cost of repairs for the body paint.

67 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2010

The paint began fading and peeling. Noticed on my Hondas that are the same make and model.

68 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/01/2010

I've noticed over the last couple of years that the paint has faded. It seems like the clear coat has been removed. There's severe damage to the hood, roof, front fender, and the trunk. Possibly because the manufacture used poor quality paint.

69 Paint problem of the 2003 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

Black paint began fading in spots on hood and fenders. Paint is now almost completely gone.

70 Paint problem of the 2000 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/01/2009

The paint and clear coat have chipped off.
