1 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/18/2025

While driving, a warning message appeared on the dashboard stating: “supplemental restraint system problem. See your dealer. ” the airbag warning light also illuminated. This indicates a malfunction within the supplemental restraint system (srs), which controls airbag deployment and seatbelt pretensioners. At this time, it is unknown what specific component of the srs failed or malfunctioned. And this issue first appeared 2 moths after purchase but its been coming on and half I don't know how serious this is. This malfunction places my safety and the safety of passengers at risk because the airbags or other restraint features may not function properly in the event of a collision. The problem has not yet been confirmed or repaired by a dealer, and no inspection by the manufacturer, police, or insurance representatives has been completed as of this report. The warning lamps and message appeared suddenly while driving, with no prior symptoms, noises, or performance issues. Vehicle remains available for inspection if requested.

Mechanic states that driver buckle is causing error message concerning air bag deployment on driver side, says belt buckle should be replaced so connectivity will be re-established, to enable air bag deployment. I would think this would be a safety recall, if this is the case.

3 Seat Belt problem of the 2025 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 05/19/2025

Unknown. I believe the seat belts in my car do not provide the restraint necessary for my safety. Toke car to dealer, who provided a vague explanation in an effort to convince me that there is a special way of pulling the seat belt all the way out and wait until they click to ensure they engage. The vehicle manual doesn't state this requirement. Honda corporate would only advise me to take the car to another dealer or request the dealer I bought the car do a diagnostic test. The dealer general requests that I request this service by text. I have requested the service to which there has been no answer,.

4 Seat Belt problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/15/2025

I had an accident on I-85 I was rear ended after traffic slammed on breaks and the car behind had been riding my bumper for miles. He went through my trunk and almost came into my backseat. I was also pushed into the car infront of me which his directly on the drivers side of my car. My front end is completely pushed on the drivers side into to where you can see the metal frame. On the rear, the bumper and metal frame completely came off. I was hit directly on impact sensors on both ends and none of my airbags went off. And my seatbelt did not lock up. We were still going about 60-70mph when he hit me. The car is a total loss.

6 Seat Belt problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/06/2025

The yellow brake system light illuminates on my dash. . I took my car to the dealership immediately after the brake system notification illuminated and the dealer said they don't know how or why. I have a photo of the illuminated yellow light. My electronic brake doesn't engage correctly when my car is parked I have video of the electronic brake operating incorrectly. When I speak to the dealership they state that the red brake light did activate incorrectly. My car also slammed the brakes when there was nothing in front of me, causing the seatbelt to pull my neck violently. I was at risk of being rear ended. I've reported this to Honda America multiple times. The last incident caused so much anxiety and panic that I will not drive this car. I do not and will not continue to drive a car with brake issues. Please investigate. My car has been to the dealership nine times in one year and parked since 2/7/25.

7 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/03/2025

On 2/3/25 a warning light came on in my 2018 Honda Accord hybrid while driving home (supplemental restraint system problem, see your dealer). I immediately called the Honda dealer where I get my car serviced to explain the problem. I was told I would need to bring the car in and pay $200 for a diagnostic and they would have to keep the car for a few days. Well I know the problem, my driver seatbelt no longer locks when I hit the brakes. I tested it the whole 1 hour drive home. I then called Honda customer service and they were closed. However they did mention the car I have based on my phone number and said there were no recalls. I was in a panic driving home from work for an hour with no fully functioning seat belt. I went online and there is a seat belt recall on Honda cars but apparently not the year mine was made. I bought my car brand new, it's only 6 years old and I expect to have functioning seatbelts. I also do not expect to pay out of pocket for any diagnostic cost when my seat belt clearly no longer functions as it should. I would like this information reported to Honda ASAP. I do not have a second car and I'm in a panic about having to drive to work. Please help me. I will also try again to call Honda corporate office tomorrow.

11 Seat Belt problem of the 2021 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/28/2024

I have contacted multiple dealers to repair the recall. However, none of the dealers have the parts to repair it and does not know when they will have parts. They asked me to keep checking because they will not be contacting me when the parts are available. I am using my vehicle everyday and I have a passenger present at all times. I do not want to get in an accident and have my passengers in danger for a faulty weight sensor. I need to find a fix for this recall as soon as possible.

12 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/16/2024

During normal driving - clear weather conditions - the car will suddenly activate the forward collision braking. It will literally slam on the brakes and decrease the speed by 10-15 mph. This happened as I was going down the drive of our neighborhood, I was at 45 mph with no one in front of me or behind me (thankfully) and the car applied the brakes and activated the front collision warning. There is also an intermittent issue with my seatbelt. Specifically the drivers seat belt. I was witness to someone driving my car - he buckled his seat belt and it unlatched. He then buckled it again thinking he didn’t do it right - but it wouldn’t latch. This has happened to me before as well - but usually after the third try of buckling the seat belt it will work and so I thought nothing of it. Additionally, the windshield wipers do not go back to their original position after being in use.

13 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/05/2024

I received a notice of recall with my car registration and I contact the Honda dealer future Honda of sacramento. I went for the appointment for the on October 05, 2024 and was told that they did not have the parts.

14 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/23/2024

I own a 2018 Honda Accord ex?l (VIN#: [xxx]). Shortly after a service visit to a Honda dealer for unrelated maintenance (in Sep. 2024 with an estimated 50,000 miles), the dashboard began showing ‘supplemental restraint system problem – see dealer’. A dealer quoted $400+ to diagnose and replace what appears to be a common passenger airbag indicator sensor failure, a known issue reported by many 2018 Accord owners. I believe Honda should issue a recall due to the safety risk. I’m filing this as a voq complaint for odi’s review and authorize NHTSA to share my identifying info with Honda if needed. Supporting documentation and numerous examples of complaints from hundreds of Honda Accord owners relating to this problem: - numerous drivers of 2018 Honda Accords have reported the identical warning (“supplemental restraint system problem – see dealer”) along with fault code b002013, intermittent dashboard behavior, and inability of dealers to resolve it consistently. - Honda’s 2024 campaign 24?050 identifies the seat weight sensor as directly causing srs warnings and passenger airbag indicator failure - demonstrating this component is known to fail and trigger airbag system alert behavior, even if not yet applied to 2018 model year. - independent coverage confirms the risk and design defect in seat sensors causing unintended srs failures, underscoring the safety risk and Honda’s formal acknowledgment of the issue in later models. - multiple complaints about post?service warning lights that match this scenario (electrical system category), and public news coverage stating Honda is recalling vehicles due to faulty passenger seat sensors that may cause airbag or srs failures. - 37 official complaints for the 2018 Accord, with no repair by dealer and failure left unresolved. One report (may 12, 2025) describes this exact issue saying the dashboard message randomly popped up and a "dealer wanted $250 diagnostic and $4,000 to repair. - my service quote attached. 15 Seat Belt problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/23/2024

Car was in accident late August 2024. Car was brought to Honda dealership in harrisonburg, va. Repairs were made early September 2024 except for driver seat belt. Part is currently still on backorder with Honda (today is 1/16/2025). A case (#xxx) has been opened with Honda corporate but part has no estimated date available. Car can not be driven as it is not legal or safe to drive without part. Part must be a new part, no used or remanufactured part is acceptable. Honda continues to produce new vehicles with seat belts but they are not providing required safety parts for existing cars. Waiting 5 months is unacceptable and being without this car comes at expense and burden to us. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).

17 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 06/14/2024

The driver seat belt has locked up, rendering it unusable. My mechanic confirmed that I needed a replacement seat belt; it cannot be repaired. I paid for a replacement seat belt 17 June 2024 from val strough Honda dealership in seaside CA, a special order. Seat belts for 2017 Honda Accords have been back-ordered ever since. I have checked back every couple of months; still back-ordered 13 months later. At one time the dealer said there were 59 back-orders for that part. The dealer received one July 6th which went to a customer who had waited 2 years for it. Seat belts are required in California. I drive as many as 20,000 miles each year. If there is an accident, I have no seat belt that protects me from major injury or worse.

18 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/27/2024

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, several unknown warning lights illuminated. The contact called the dealer and was informed the parts were not yet available for NHTSA campaign numbers: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline) and 23v158000 (seat belts). The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable. Parts distribution disconnect.

19 Seat Belt problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 04/08/2024

This is in reference to the current recall on my vehicle for the front seatbelts. I have called a few dealerships over the last few months trying to get it fixed. At first they said there was no info about what to do, then followed by the "theres no parts" right now so there's nothing that can be done. I was able to finally take it in to get fixed as the service advisor told me that they are able to fix it. A few days passed and they told me "actually we dont have the parts to fix it" and told me that they wouldn't even test if it passed or failed (needing repair or not) becuase if it failed they would not be able to give me the car back for safety concerns. If it is such a safety concern then I believe that I shouldn't be driving the car at all. I just have to "deal with it" and take the risk that my car might or might not be affected and in turn if I get in an accident it could cause me more harm. I feel that at this point, about 6 months after the recall was announced, if it cannot be fixed the car as whole needs to be recalled / bought back and not put customers in a position to keep wondering when this is going to get fixed.

20 Seat Belt problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 02/07/2024

When I am driving alone, the rear seat belt sign goes on and the alarm starts ringing, as if someone took off their seat belt off. No one in back seat. Was confirmed by dealer on 07/01/24. They performed hard reset. Passenger sat on rear seat behind driver and put on seat belt, the sign showed the middle seat passenger didn't have their seat belt on, there was no one there. The problem started after I took the car for a recall about the seatbelt. 02/07/24, safety recall 23-098, seatbelt pretensioner inspection.

21 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/18/2023

The contact owns a 2018 Honda Accord. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 23v858000 (fuel system, gasoline) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was contacted and it was diagnosed that a part of the vehicle's failures did relate to the recall. The dealer was able to repair the seat belt however they had informed the contact that they would not be able to service the vehicle for the recall till parts were available late August of 2024. The contact stated that they have to turn on the emergency lights for the vehicle to function properly however without doing so the vehicle would display a hesitation and jerking sensation when starting and or accelerating. If the vehicle is being driven without these lights activated, after driving for a short amount of time the vehicle's emergency lights would illuminate. The check engine light, abs light, and seat belt failure light are a few of the lights that would illuminate. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 174,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

22 Seat Belt problem of the 2023 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/16/2023

The 2023 Honda Accord sport hybrid has 8302 miles and it had complete brake failure. We had just refueled the car and moving away from the pumps, the pedal sank to the floor. I pumped the brakes several times and was able to stop the car. This was at about 3mph. Received a message on the dash that the brakes were compromised and not to drive the car. Shut the car off and restarted. The brake pedal was spongy. We drove home (about 2 miles) very slowly, using the brakes minimally. When I got home, I shut the car off. I decided I wanted a picture of the dash warning, but it didn't return. Went for a very low speed drive to try to duplicate the problem, but it seems normal now. Bringing to original dealer, 12-17-2023. We've had several other issues related to the parking brakes and cruise control on 11-13-23. Brought to dealer on 11-16-23 and they were unable to fix due to part shortage. They failures displayed are: 1 - brake system - parking brake not available. 2 - brake system - brake hold system problem. 3 - adaptive cruise control system problem. The drivers side rear seatbelt will not retract. Brought to dealer waiting for part to repair. We are fortunate this happened in a parking lot with little traffic. If this happened on a roadway at speed I would have no way to slow the car. This is a hybrid so I am not able to downshift, the parking brake is not functioning due to previous problem and the electronic drive doe not provide compression braking if I shut the car off. I would be happy to answer any further questions you may have.

23 Seat Belt problem of the 2021 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/12/2023

Front passenger side seat belt does not lock into place. Nothing is obstructing it, we were told it is not covered under the vehicles warranty and have to pay out of pocket to get it fixed. Isn’t this a safety hazard?.

24 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Supplemental restraint system problem.

25 Seat Belt problem of the 2017 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/08/2023

The contact owns a 2017 Honda Accord. The contact stated while his daughter was driving at 10 mph and distracted, she crashed into a lamppost on the front driver's side of the vehicle. The air bags deployed. During the impact, the driver's seat belt failed to retract and secure the driver. No warning lights were illuminated. There was cosmetic damage but it was not severe due to the collision being minor and at low speeds. The vehicle was towed to an auto shop and the mechanic did not provide a diagnosis however, the mechanic informed the contact that the part to do the repair was unavailable. No police report was filed and no injuries were reported. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.

26 Seat Belt problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

The seat belt buckle in the back seat on the right side just easily came right out. If I were to have gotten in an accident whoever was sitting there could have been badly hurt due to the seat belt buckle malfunction. I still have yet to get if fixed because it is such a serious safety issue I’m unsure of who to trust to fix it to where it is as safe as it was supposed to have been.

27 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/01/2023

I keep intermittently getting a supplemental restraint system error. I have been on forums with other vehicle owners getting the same error. The dealer says it is a bad airbag while others are saying it could be two other less expensive remedies they have encountered such as a faulty cutoff indicator that gets overheated and the solders come loose as well as a faulty seatbelt buckle assembly. This is not a constant issue, it is intermittent and feel if the airbag was faulty it would be a constant error.

28 Seat Belt problem of the 2024 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 10/03/2023

Driver's seat and seatbelt hurt my right hip, and strike the hip socket, because of the unusual position of the bucket seat. It's so bad, I want to get rid of this car! it's hard to walk after driving. It's extremely fatiguing.

29 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/27/2023

The seat belt has been buckled but disconnects once I drive. It has trouble connecting when I get in car. I have to push it in and pull for it to connect. I asked washington Honda about recall and they said none were issued. I've never spilled food in it as I rarely have food in car.

30 Seat Belt problem of the 2009 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 09/04/2023

Traffic bumper to bumper as 5 pm, stop and go near traffic lights. Tapped SUV ahead and despite very very slow speed and not even scratch on my 2009 Honda Accord coupe - the drivers air bag deployed & seatbelt locked up. Contacted Honda corporate where they opened case and promised “taking care of, shouldn’t have happened, and not to worry”. 2 weeks later Honda changed response when I called for update and told me to deal with my insurance company. Very unpleasant & unprofessional. Car evaluated and needed seatbelt & air bag replacement. They too confirmed not even scratch front of car, only has 83k miles! now everyone claiming no seatbelts available.

31 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/12/2023

Seat belt: multiple instances where the seat belth latch does not fully engage causing the seat belt to unlatch while I'm driving. Engine/fuel: car bogs down specially with hotter weather. Stalled twice in the past month. When attempted to restart the car, it would crank but it would not be able to fully start. I had my mechanic check the battery, fuses, and even use a scan tool with no issues to be found. The car would eventually start 30-45 minutes after it has cooled down. There is suspicion it is the fuel pump and there is a recall out for this same year, make, and model car but apparently, my VIN was not included in the recall so my local dealer is not able to honor it. I am concerned that this will turn into a bigger problem or worse, that it will happen when I driving down the highway.

32 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/22/2023

Supplemental restraint system error appears on dash unit, at first intermittently and now at all times. I am wondering if this could be related to a recall on seatbelts which apparently does not apply to my VIN but does to other 2018 Honda Accords.

33 Seat Belt problem of the 2019 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/19/2023

Lf diver side belt loosens up and has had a rattling noise . The braking system has happened 4 times one almost causing an accident behind me for randomly braking . And suspension has caused me two sets of tires in one year and 3 alignments.

34 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/17/2023

My car keeps indicating a supplemental restraint system issue then goes away I’m not sure what’s going on but I’ve seen several other complaints about this same issue with Honda.

35 Seat Belt problem of the 2018 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/11/2023

I had a recall on my seatbelt and after I did the recall now my airbag resistant light is coming on and I don’t think they’re going to look at it without charging me when it never came on until they done the seatbelt so I’m not sure if I got a defective part and they need to replace it or what but I don’t think I should have to pay for it since it was just fine till they done the recall.
