Driving at 45 mph and rear general tire altimax rt43 tire blew out. No accidents or injuries but consider myself lucky as this could of been serious at highway speeds and if a front tire blew out. Tire is available for inspection. Tire shop noticed dry rot in bottom of outer tread grooves and vehicle was garage parked approximately 50% of time. Tire was manufactured in November 9-15, 2020; installed on vehicle on 8-2-21 with 137,739 miles; tire replaced on 8-23-23 with 160,103 miles. Tire had 22,364 miles to failure, and was driven 2 years and 16 days to failure. No low pressure tire warning on vehicle at or before tire blew out. Tire mechanic said all 3 remaining tires had normal pressure. Tire separated into three sections, the thread area, and both sidewalls. Looks like there are safety recalls on various general altimax rt43 tires due to manufacturing defect from over curing, but this tire size was not mentioned. Tire size is 215/60r16. I have copies of installation paperwork documenting tire dot number, odometer readings, and install date as well as final replacement paperwork documenting odometer reading and dates.

This is the second same size cooper tire that has failed the same way in the same time frame. The tire was properly inflated and began to lose air even though it had no punctures in the tire. The tire started to run low and the sidewall cracked and did not deflate but ran with low pressure. I noticed that the tire was low but not deflated. Upon examination of the tire the same cracks appears on the side wall and nothing was hit that had abraded the tire. Both tires were size 215/50 r17 cs4 v xl bw 95 tl. Both tires lasted approx 15-17k miles before failing and approx 2 years in each case. One was replaced by the tire dealer only because I had bought the tire protection policy and the other was no longer covered as replacements are no longer covered after 12k or 1 yr. Both tires could not be repaired as the sidewall has failed.

Michelin, "primacy", 235 45r18 -- mxm4 soft sidewall gives smooth, soft ride, but may contribute to a "mushy", "jello-like" sway in turns tire w/ less than 3000 miles blew-out for no apparent reason at 75 mph, on an interstate, clear weather, warm & sunny, but tire had been driven in hot ( + & at interstate highway speeds ) conditions during previous week. Driver did not see or hear, nor was there any object in the road that might cause prior damage to the tire -- it just blew-out". The tire was totally destroyed by the time the driver could decrease speed and move from the far left lane ( of three lanes ) to the shoulder. Owner/driver had driven 50,000+ thousand miles on a previous set of michelin "pilot" tires ( same size, same car, same driver, same variety of conditions ) without any problems -- and plans to immediately replace the three remaining "primacy" tires.

I have owned a set of yokohama avids for the past 2 years and roughly 20,000 miles. In that time I have had 3 side wall failures. One from a pot hole, one from a raised man hole cover and one from a nail going through the sidewall. All three tires were completely destroyed. In 24 years of driving I have only had this happen these 3 times. The original set of tires were michelin's and there were no issues with side wall failures in over 50,000 miles.
2009 Honda Accord. Consumer states problem with tires the consumer noticed a three inch jagged crack on the lower sidewall of the tire. The consumer took the vehicle to his local shop and was informed the damage could be called a slice or sliver. The tires were measured and they were still in good condition as there was no evidence of any road hazard to the tire or wheel. Updated 09/29/10.
Pep boys, definity tires, hx700, size p205/60hr16. I have had 2 different tires on my 2004 Honda Accord just lose air pressure. The first one while just sitting in my driveway just go flat. Filled it back up to proper pressure drove for a week or 2 and same thing happened, it just went flat. . . . . Then it happened a third time and took the car back to pep boys and they replaced it and has not happened since. . . . . At least to that tire and I have been closely watching them all. Until the other day. . . . . When a different one went down on me. . . . . . No punctures were found and the tire was replaced. I personally believe there is a sidewall defect with these tires. . . . . They are not strong enough and I mostly do interstate driving. Pep boys thought that there might be something wrong with my wheels, but when my first tire went down and I took it to them to be checked they dropped in the tub of water with no leaks. . . . . . And 1 of the technicians mentioned the sidewall which makes good sense. So that is that and I have 2 more tires that I am watching closely.

I wish to lodge a complaint against michelin tire company. About 4,000 miles ago I installed two michelin 20560v16 front tires on my car. Yesterday, while parked, the sidewall of the front right tire (dot-m37r-jlfx-1106) simply burst leaving a 2-3 in. Gap. I had to replace both front tires in order not to have a tread imbalance. After a long and tedious telephone conversation with michelin customer service, they maintained, without checking the state of the tire, that this is not a manufacturing or other defect, and thus would not be covered by the standard manufacturer warranty. They added that it was due to misuse, since the tire was installed on a car!!! as if their manufacturing responsibility extends only to brand new tires while still in the shop, prior to installation on a car. They then offered "as a good will" (as they claim) only 30% reduction on tire replacement only (no reimbursement of labor associated with tire replacement), which I have refused, given the near-new state of the tire. Other than indicating that there may be a safety problem with these michelin tires, do I have a recourse against such a flagrant failure to honor a clear defect responsibility?.
Michelin energy mxv4 problems. We were driving on a highway as the one of the rear tire blew out. We pulled over and changed the tires. As I checked the damaged, I noticed a huge crack on the inside part of the tire (no curb damage possible). So we went to a michelin store to request a warranty exchange (tire had less den 10k miles). The rep said it seemed to be a common problem with this kind of tire and he will try to get us a warranty exchange. But because of michelin denying the problem, we prob. Wont get the tire exchanged. So we bought a new single tire for $200. 16. We are very upset. . .

05/25/07 defectives michelin tires customer states that the tires life was only 1/2 the time expected* the consumer provided a copy of the invoice for tires and a copy of the tires make, model, and size. The consumer noticed a buldge on the sidewall of the right rear tire.
Driving our 2 month old 2006 Honda Accord sedan ex special edition on a stretch of smooth road the right front tire suddenly and without warning lost air. We had not seen anything in road, hit a pothole or curb or anything else. There was no indication that anything influenced the tire to blow. Upon inspection of the tire a 1. 5 inch hole was in the sidewall. There was nothing in the road that could have caused this event. Fortunately, we were able to pull off the road out of traffic and change the tire without further complications. Two michelin authorized tire companies told me that we must have hit something that caused the puncture and that michelin would not offer any warranty on the tire. I was stunned that this could be possible on a 2 month old tire with less than two thousand miles on it and without any identifiable event that might have caused the tire to fail. I am very pleased that there was no resulting crash but I am not happy that I had to spend almost $200. 00 to replace a tire on my new car when I believe there was not any way I could have avoided it. If I had hit a pothole, curb or anything, if there was evidence of something in the road or even if I had been driving aggressively I could understand it, but there is no reason in my mind that this tire should have failed nor should I have had to purchase a replacement. I am now concerned about the other 9 michelin tires on our Hondas ( we purchased two Accords in July) and our safety while driving the cars.
I drove a 2005 Honda Accord. After two days of purchased which was in April , 2005 I pulled out of the parking space my left front tire was popped. I had it replaced and called the dealership. They sent me to one of their tire affiliate dealer and they said that it was not manufacturer faults. Four or five months after, I heard my brakes making this screech loud noise so I brought in for the dealer to take a look at and they had it re-do on the brake. Last week, beginning of may 2006. The car bring in my attention on the freeway. When I drive at 65 miles, the car was shaking, it moves side to side and I don't have that much control with the wheels. I brought it in and the dealer had my wheels rotate for me. And today, this morning I dropped my daughter to her baby sitter house at 9:30 a. M. It is a busy residential area so I was driving around 15-20 miles per hour. I heard a very loud noise from my car and the car was dragging something in the front, right passenger side for few seconds and the car was dead stop in the middle of the street. I could not start the engine at all. So I went out and looked. I saw my front right side car dropped on it's own wheel with black pieces, bolt, and silver ring piece scattered on the street. I looked down and saw my front right axle was broken and felt down on the street. There are neighbors walked by and saw what happened. I called a towed truck and they came by to towed my car to the nearby Honda dealer. With the condition the car was in. The tow truck man told me that he might had scraped my front bumper because my car had very small space for the lift of his truck to go under and lift up the car. We managed to secured the car and had it towed to the dealership. And they said that they will take a look at it.

On two separate occasions, I had a blow-out while driving my 2006 Honda Accord se. The first incident was roughly in March of 2006, and the second one November 16, 2006. In both instances, the car was traveling on a straight road at about 65 mph both blow-outs occurred on the passenger side, the first one front and the second rear. The first blow-out nearly put me into the guard rail and caused damage to the alloy rim. The other blow-out did not cause any loss of control. Both blow-outs occurred accompanied by a loud sound, not sure if it was from the release of air or the rim slamming to the highway at 65 mph. Both blow-outs resulted in a gaping hole in the sidewalls of the tires. The initial failure happened with 3000 miles on the car and the second with 9000 miles. All 4 tires constantly appear to be low on air although within the recommended psi range. Neither tire could be repaired and both tires needed to be replaced. I have spent $400 replacing these damaged tires on a car that is less than a year old.
: the contact stated while driving 70 mph the rear passenger side tire ran flat without warning. Upon inspection the tire felt hot compared to the other tires. There was no road debris present when the tire ran flat. The flat tire was replaced by the spare and then driven to the dealership. When attempting to refill the tire it exploded. Upon inspection the dealer discovered a split on the inside of the sidewall. All four tires were replaced previously due to normal tread wear. After the incident the blown tire was replaced at the consumer's expense. The tire is a goodyear assurance triple tread. Updated 3/17/2006 -.
I bought a new 2004 Honda Accord. I was driving it today when a softball size bubble appeared on the sidewall. A major Honda dealer said they had never seen anything like that. The local michelin dealer said it was not a defective tire. How can a softball size balloon just appear all of the sudden on the sidewall. If I had been traveling at 70 mph it might have killed me and my daughter. I want michelin to replace this tire and the other three free of charge and also inspect the thickness of sidewalls used on 2004 Honda Accord ex models. The tire had 20,000 miles on it. Speed rating on the tire is 91v size 260/16. I have digital pictures taken by the Honda dealer (hugh white Honda, columbus, OH.
Michelin tire mxv4 s8 developed bulge in sidewall on right front tire (205,60,16). Will hopefully replace the tire before it blows out. Tires only have 17k and are "standard" on Honda Accord v6.
Driver took vehicle to dealer for routine maintenance, and mechanic noticed that the left and right front tires had stress marks and bubbles located on the inner and outer sidewalls of the tires, and they needed to be replaced. Bridgestone firestone p206/60r16, dotx3dv00t12.
Michelin, mxv4 energy saver, p205/60r16, dot#b97rftwx3804. While driving 70 mph both sides of the tire blew out. The tread wear on the tire was approximately 1485 miles. Consumer had the tire evaluated by Honda, sears, and tire kingdom. There were no punctures, nails, or anything to indicate that there was a puncture. When the tire was evaluated from the inside one could see the rubber peeling away from the tire. The whole layer of inside rubber was moving away from the tire.
I purchased a Honda Accord new in 2002 recently I noticed that the two front tires had developed bulges (bubbles), on the surface of the sidewall measuring approximately 2 inches on the drivers side and 1 inch on the passenger's side of the vehicle. The tires have 17,000 miles of use. . Read more...

While pulling into a parking space the consumer hit a curb and the front right tire blew out. The tire sidewall was ruptured even though the vehicle was moving at a very low speed. The dealer examined the tire and offered to pay for fifty percent of the damage.
The consumer stated there was a tire blowout on 2003 Honda Accord. The tires had a blowout within a couple of months of each other. The consumer had not talked to the tire manufacturer. She talked to the dealer. The dealer said that there were road hazards. The dealer replaced the first tire ,saying it was a defect. The other three tires were considered road hazards. They were the original tires that came on the car. The consumer has called the dealership. They said there was nothing they could do. The consumer bought new tires to put on car. The speed was about 30 mph.
Sidewall blowout while driving at 50 mph. No contact with curb, pothole, or any other road hazard. Tire dealer confirmed that blowout originated from inside the tire. Tires have less than 20k miles. 2nd blowout in 16 months. Michelin mx4 195/65r15.
Tire sidewall blowout. Honda won't warranty tires, michelin blamed it on "road hazard". No hazards encountered!.
I've had to replace each rear tire within the last 4 months of purchase due to mild contact with the curb. The tires were gashed and severely deflated. Had to get replaced.
