1 Water Pump problem of the 2015 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/06/2019

Takata recall: when starting the car, the engine light is on stating: "emission system problem & engine cooling system problem. " this somehow trigger a safe fail mode that prohibits the car going faster than approximately 40 miles an hour. When the car was brought to the Honda dealership for diagnosis, it showed dtc p2602 stored for electric water pump low voltage. They were able to perform the electric water pump performance and it cleared the code. But within 24 hours, the dtc returns and the engine light is on again and the car wouldn't be able go faster than 40 miles per hour. .

2 Water Pump problem of the 2008 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 07/22/2019

At 90,000 car shook and was misfiring. Codes pulled were p301 and 304. Spark plugs 1-4 were replaced free of charge due to Honda service bulletin 13-078 which extended the warranty to 8 years on engine misfires. My complaint is that the pistons and the piston rings were not inspected at that time. Why not? who knows what condition they were in? the car was returned to us with spark plugs as band-aids! it happened again at 103,000 miles (which we paid for) and now at 128,000 the dealership says we need a complete lower engine rebuild to replace pistons 1-3. Of course as a 2008, even though low miles, it's outside of warranty. I thought in buying an Accord, I could drive it for at least 150,000- at least! I would like the warranty further extended, or at least for american Honda corp to pay for half of the repairs as it's only 3,000 miles outside of the original service bulletin extended warranty of 125,000. If Honda acknowledged something was wrong with this particular v6 vtec engine, why does the warranty expire? shouldn't there be a grace period or a compromise? we are getting punished for caring for our car and having low miles on it. Many folks benefitted from the extended warranty because their cars failed within the 8 year time frame because they had high miles- higher than ours! what about those 08 Accords that are still failing outside of the 8 year mark that have lower miles than the ones Honda covered under warranty??? c'mon american Honda, take care of all your customers! I have purchased 6 Hondas in my lifetime and am a loyal customer at my local Honda service center with an extensive service history. On this car alone I've purchased new brakes, new starter, new alternator, drive train belts, water pump, new vtec spool valves, vtec solenoid, and every service as recommended by- at the dealership- and my Accord only lasted 128,000? how?.

3 Water Pump problem of the 2013 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

In early 2019, after my Honda dealer replaced my vehicle's water pump, I began experiencing problems with the push button start feature on my 2013 Honda Accord. Sometimes, my car starts right away. But more often, it takes several attempts before my car will start using the push button start feature. When repeated attempts are necessary to start my car, I hear a 'clicking' type noise when I press the start button, but my car does not turn over. After several attempts pushing the 'start' button, my car eventually starts (sometimes after a few seconds and a few attempts, sometimes after many attempts and two or three minutes). The problem occurs randomly, when the car is cold and warm. I never experienced this problem until Honda replaced the water pump on my car earlier this year. Based on other web posts, this sounds like a common problem with the push button start feature in 2013 Honda Accords. Once my car starts, it runs well. At this present time, I have no other mechanical problems other than the push button start feature. However, my car's failure to start is a safety issue in itself if a car fails to start in a situation where a quick get away is necessary (for example, flood, wild fire, or other natural or other disaster that may require that my car start without delay).

4 Water Pump problem of the 2005 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 11/09/2015

Owner:I hit a dip with this Accord 3. 0 with vtec engine was driving down street when car made funny noise and the steering got hard to turn. Pulled over and found power steering was leaking. Drove it to shop ordered hose then dropped hose with fluid at repair shop. Technician: power steering hose broke hard and old leaking fluid everywhere causing cerpintine belt come off. The hardened power steering hose broke due to fact that breaking of 2 passenger side motor mount to bracket bolts in bracket causing engine to raise during acceleration and pulling on hoses. Car drove in ok. After replacing bracket and hose noticed water leaking from behind timing belt and removed top cover. Found water pump leaking weep hole and found idler pulley and bolt came loose and fell off. (idler pulley has a special bolt with washer end that if dont wiggle the pully while tightening can tighten pulley tweaked and not complete also use loctite) also found the harmonic balancer bolt to be over torqued making it near impossible to remove without special octagon holding tool. Of course customer doesn't understand how so many things are wrong when all he saw was broken power steering hose. (which when fluid leaks can also catch car on fire) now we suggested replacement of water pump and timing kit but customer wants vehicle immediately and feels we created these other problems on purpose which left me no choice but to do labor for free just to prove im not! the lift of engine and fluid leak caused several bushings to come apart. He must have hit dip hard.

5 Water Pump problem of the 2010 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 08/11/2015

When driving on the freeway on my way to work the check engine light came on. After exiting I checked for error codes (as I always carry the p-code reader with me). The code stated that cylinder 3 was misfiring. I double checked all spark plugs to make sure the connections were okay. The engine light continued to come on, with a rough idle, and engine codes started to be more spontaneous as it stated random misfires/multiple cylinder misfires. I took my car to Honda and was told that I likely need to replace the ignition coil, so I did that and still experienced the same problem. I then took it to a shop where they also suspected bad ignition coils. They then did a valve adjustment and was positive that would fix the problem. After performing that job, the car continued with the same rough idle but only populated the error code stating cylinder 3 is misfiring. They took out the spark plug and ignition coil on cylinder 3 and discovered a cracked intake valve. I've spoken to at least 10 shops, 2 Honda service dealerships, and 2 personal mechanic friends that all state that a broken intake valve at 107k is very unusual and likely a result of poor design. I have read about the class action lawsuit for all v6 Honda Accords between 2008-2012. Unfortunately the 2010 v6 6 mt is one of the few models left out of that law suit. I have already had a shop start on the repairs as I have no choice but to have them done ASAP. I figure an unlikely event like this is due to poor engine design since I have thoroughly kept up with all scheduled maintenance (spark plugs, timing belt, water pump, oil change, etc. . ). I feel that Honda should be responsible for this 2000$ dollar repair.

6 Water Pump problem of the 2002 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 01/22/2015

My Honda was idling as I was clearing the snow off of the vehicle. When I got into my car, I could smell exhaust fumes, I assumed it was because it was idling. As I drove home, the smell faded, so I did not pay much attention to it. On 1/31/15 I had my car inspected & the oil changed. Aside from having the brakes & rotors replaced, all was well & the car passed inspection. On 2/8/15 I was driving home from the grocery store. Suddenly my oil light starts to blink & the smell of exhaust fumes becomes over whelming. I opened my windows & continued home. I pulled the car into the garage & noticed a trail of oil. I backed the car out of the garage & there was a pool of oil on the garage floor. My husband & I checked to be sure the drain plug & filter were intact, then we checked the oil level and it was empty! we were lucky the engine did not seize up! we took the car to our non-Honda mechanic who informed us that the balance seal had blown out. As a result oil sprayed all over the left side of the engine. This is what was causing the exhaust fume smell permeating the cabin. He told me that he can replace the seal, but that he would also have to replace the timing belt, water pump, pulleys, tensioner, cam & crank. He also told me that Honda is aware of this problem & that the balance seals now come with a bracket to hold them in place. I asked him if there was a recall on the balance seals & he told me no, most likely due to the cost of the repair. I had to pay $848 to repair my car due to a blown seal that Honda is aware of. Honda should most definitely recall this model of Accords & fix the balance seal issue; for no other reason other than the dangerous fumes that filled the interior of my car. I'd like to be reimbursed for the cost of this repair. If you suddenly smell exhaust fumes, get the balance seal checked immediately as it is a warning!.

8 Water Pump problem of the 2004 Honda Accord

Failure Date: 12/31/2012

As I am driving my vehicle gets stuck at 20 mph and the rpms go high (above 3,000-4,000). Then the rpms eventually go back down and the vehicle speeds up. I have 2 boys, a 2 year old and a 5 year old along with my wife. I am fearful for their safety. I researched that there was a recall in regards to the transmission over heating at 2nd gear from lack of lubrication but I never received a recall, or at least my dealership did not receive a recall notice. I am not in the best financial situation to have a transmission serviced, but I have kept up with all of the vehicle maintenance including the timing belt, water pump seals belts etc which were replaced not too long ago. I was hoping that the NHTSA could assist me with this urgent matter.
