Vehicle has repeatedly thrown errors with warnings to not drive the vehicle and have it inspected by the dealer. The vehicle has already been to the shop twice for the problem. In both cases Honda installed an updated vsa modulator they claimed would fix the problem. It has not. Not the local dealer doesn't even want to see the vehicle as they tell me their is nothing more they can do for us. They claimed to have emailed Honda corporate to have a regional rep contact us. It has been 4 days since. They say the vehicle is safe, but yet they don't even know what is wrong with it. The vehicle has a defect they cannot correct, and my car is not alone. . Read more...

Was driving on freeway in heavy traffic, car in front braked, hit brakes and they just went to the floor with no effort to stop the vehicle. Slammed into car in front with our 4 and 5 year old boys in back seat. Geico called the car a total loss. Honda refuses to inspect the car in fear of manufacturer defects. To make it worse the airbags didn't deploy. Roads were dry, no ice or anything else to cause inability to stop.

I have a 2008 Honda Civic sedan. Since the car was new the air conditioner never worked properly. The symptom that I noticed was a lack of water dripping from the bottom of the car (from the evaporator coil). I asked Honda about it when I took it in for a routine visit and they said it was fine and the air temperature from teh vent was in spec. The car was cooling so I never worried about it much. At 75k miles the a/c compressor just stopped working. The a/c system had a full charge but the compressor wouldnt compress the gas to allow the refrigerant to flash cool. I had a take it to local car repair place to have the a/c compressor, expansion valve, and drier replaced. Now after spending $$$$, the a/c works great and water drips from car when the a/c is on. The a/c system from the factory seems to be an issue and numerous people have complained about it. There should be service bulletin or recall for this issue.

While driving on i5 headed south to medford, or on June 6, 2014, at around 9:30 pm I struck what appeared to be a small refrigerator which was laying on the highway. There was what appeared to be minor damage to the bumper of the 2012 Honda Civic that I was driving. The sensors for the airbag system were triggered, but the air bags did not deploy. Upon taking the vehicle to the Honda dealership to get repairs, we learned that the harness for the air bag system had been severed.
I leased a new Honda Civic and I can not drive it without excruciating pain in my neck. The headrests shove my head forward and I can not find a comfortable position. I am heartbroken, angry and in pain. After my first 30 minute drive in this car, I researched online this issue and there are thousands of americans with the same problem due to the new head restraint regulations. I certainly would not have signed a 3 year lease agreement if I had known that I was agreeing to pay thousands of dollars for three years of pain. I've tried adjusting the seat height, adjusting the tilt of the seat and the headrest height in every combination I can think of and all I can achieve is a barely tolerable driving position where I can barely see over the dashboard and the headrest is raised high enough that it doesn't touch my head - nor protect it as designed. I understand that this is mainly an issue with passive headrests and that the active headrests are a better design that stay out of the driver's space. My only option will be to reverse the headrest for the next three years and hope my car isn't rear ended. Although having my new car totaled would be a blessing because I would have a chance to find a vehicle to drive that doesn't hurt me physically. I see that these forward tilting headrest complaints online go all the way back to 2008 when the new regulations came out that forced car manufacturers to produce vehicles that torture a significant number of americans every year. I would have gladly paid $200 or $300 more for an active restraint system that stayed out of my way. The NHTSA should be ashamed for their disgusting callous disregard for the thousands of people who suffer every day due to these government-required headrests forcing their necks and spines into unnatural and painful positions.

The air conditioner is no longer blowing any cold air. Went to the dealership and was told that the air compressor needs to be replaced, along with the coils, and a/c clutch engagement for the air compressor. Vehicle is only 5 years old and there is no extended warranty to cover the cost of replacing the air compressor. Discussed with several mechanics in my area and have seen forum discussions posted that have similar issues and have listed it as a "known issue" but Honda has not formally acknowledged. Previously I have owned a 1997 Honda Civic with all original parts and it did not have such an issue. I have also submitted a direct complaint to Honda regarding my defective air compressor.
History from odi # 10572660: 6-18-09 Honda dealership did Feb 2009 recall (replaced auto-tensioner pivot bolt & reroute belt) at 28,324 mi. 9-15-12 engine failed (48144 mi. ) approaching stop intersection. Subsequently would not crank to start. Towed car to service station. 9-18-12 vehicle repaired -- due to broken pivot bolt, a new Honda recall belt kit, including new bolt, belt, belt tensioner assembly & water pump pulley had to be installed. Approximately 20,000 mi. After recall kit & new bolt was installed to prevent the pivot bolt from breaking, the bolt broke and stopped the car from functioning completely. Had I been in higher speed traffic the results may have been disastrous. ----------------------------------------------------------- 12-20-13 car died approaching intersection -- towed for service. Again pivot bolt had broken, causing cascade of events preventing car from functioning -- this time within only 7000 mi. After new belt tensioner recall kit & new pivot bolt was installed. When this occurs, the car is inoperative. This bolt has been replaced three times and broken twice. I am now afraid to drive car for fear of it ceasing to run at any time. Honda internet forums specifically for the 2006 Civic mention many similar occurrences.

Being male and capable of driving standard shift, I drive 2 footed. This vehicle is an automatic transmission with drive by wire feature. Left on brake, right on accelerator. When accelerating from a stop or a slow to make a left turn, the vehicle does not move as expected, it seems to delay competing the turn, and even does it when trying to pass a vehicle on the fwy. It is an intermittent occurrence. I have taken it back to the dealer and they say they can not find any problem. I would like to leave it with them for one week and have the mechanic drive it for one week to and from work. But I do not want to pay for a rental during the time. I will do so if there is no trouble found by the region service manager. But otherwise I would like the dealership to pick up the rental. I now have had it for about 16 months and have had to adjust my driving habits to compensate for the delay in order to avoid a crash. Other wise I have had good service from the dealership. I now have approximately 10, 300 miles on the vehicle. Thank you.

The peeling metal plating on the interior door handles causes cuts to fingers and hands. They range from severe paper cuts to deep finger cuts. The chrome plating on the interior door handles peel and create sharp edges that cut and draw blood. This occurs when the door is opened. Our whole family had cuts especially my daughter.

I have also owned a 2006 Civic ex which had the same problem and the did make a recall for the sun visor. I have been looking online and haven't been able to fine such a recall in the model I owned now (2008 Civic si sedan) but I have fond many people complaining about the same thing. Which is very unsafe the visor can come down all of the sudden causing an accident.
Two years ago we went to the Honda dealership in cocoa florida because our air conditioner was cutting out and then coming back on, and then cutting out. We purchased a $5 relay switch and problem stopped. A year later it started again, we got another relay switch and problem stopped again, now a year later it happened again, we got a new relay and it did not correct issue. Today I came online and find out it is a known issue however there does not appear to be a recall. Why not? the past year has been awful with this car. We had to get a rental car for a week because Honda painted most of the car because there was a recall. We still have places that should have been repainted but Honda refused. Then we were traveling on the expressway and the car started overheating, we found out it was another known issue, the block cracked and again we had to get a rental car because my husband and I both work and our Civic is our only transportation. We bought it because we had been told Honda Civics are awesome reliable etc. Now, the air issue. I have had enough.
Drivers side of door sticks won't close properly. Today had to open door from drivers side and then notice that the bottom of passenger side padding is comming off. Took it in to get fix. Honda of roanoke rapids called tech line. Tech line has no information on how to fix it. Door is sticking. They haven't got back to Honda yet. So what am I to do on a brand new car. Give me a new car or tell tech line to find out how to rectify it.
The door will not lock using the key. The key either gets jammed in the door or wont go in. When it does go in, it wont come back out. Frustrated because I cant lock/unlock my car without a break-in kit.
