1 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/23/2021

Request for issuance of recall. 2006 Civic: engine does not start, and the immobilizer system makes car inoperable, especially if the battery recently went dead and the engine was jump-started. The dome light in my car, 2006 Civic ex sedan, was left on the and battery was dead, and then car was jump started. After that the immobilizer system prevented the car from starting. 1. This is a well-known design defect (Honda defect code: 03217) reported in many, many postings and comments on the internet, over many years, from 2006 until recently, both here in the u. S. And in the uk. See extracts from numerous internet reports in attachment (internet reports - problem. Docx). 2. There is no warning about this problem or information in the owner's manual for this car, or any notification from Honda, on the correct way to jump start the car to avoid the problem. See jump starting section in attachment (2006 ex owner's manual. Pdf) 3. Honda has issued: "service bulletin - August 2, 2006 06-036 - immobilizer indicator is blinking, engine won't start symptom the engine does not start, and the immobilizer indicator is blinking (especially if the battery recently went dead and the engine was jump-started). Probable cause the immobilizer imoes code has been erased. Vehicles affected: 2006 Civic 4-door lx and ex (USA-produced) from VIN 1hgfa1. . . 6l000001 thru 1hgfa1. . . 6l118712 corrective action replace the under-dash fuse/relay box (micu - multiplex integrated control unit) 2006 Civic ex 4-door a/t p/n 38200-sna-a32, h/c 8356198" see the complete Honda service bulletin 2009-08-23_151940_immob. Pdf in attachment (service bulletin 06-036. Pdf) cost of repair to customer - approx. $700-$800. An expensive repair should not be needed simply for jump starting a car with a dead battery - a normal procedure that any car can sometimes need. A recall should be issued.

2 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/05/2020

Lane monitoring system provides inconsistent warnings. This has been noted when the vehicle is in motion while I drive through the city and also on the highways. It sometimes without warning adjusts the steering of the vehicle. Brake monitoring system, when it does provide warning, provides warnings so late that a collision would be unavoidable. Tire pressure monitoring system does not provide adequate information to allow for an appropriate response of the driver. No feedback from the calibration mode of the tpms. Once the system provides its first alarm, doesn't respond well to calibration. My system now alarms about every 60-100 miles. The adaptive cruise control is scary. While it is expected that in especially hilly terrain that the cruise control would vary a bit (a couple of mph either direction), the system sometimes does not engage, sometimes turns itself off without warning, provides inconsistent warning of when the vehicle interval is not maintained, but the biggest problem is that it does not maintain the set point. For example yesterday, acc set at 42 mph. Speed limit was 40 mph. I was descending a hill and manually disengaged the acc when the vehicle speed exceeded 57 mph. Same trip -- acc set at 67 mph, speed limit at 65 mph; acc disengaged manually when vehicle speed approached 76 mph. Third instance, acc set at 56 mph, speed limit was 55 mph, acc manually disengaged at 63 mph. When acc first engaged, speed is at the set point. Then the system can't maintain the speed and consistently runs 1-2 mph below the set point. Hence, me setting the acc 1-2 mph above the speed limit. Believe that these are all part of the Honda sensing system which was part of the touring package, which is what I have. The 2017 cr-v models with the same system have a pending class action lawsuit. Honda will not respond to our inquiries.

3 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/16/2019

Repeatedly stopping. With no warnings. When driving, engine quit in January, would not move or even turn over. The manual transmission would not move. Door locks, electric as well as with the key could not be used at. Called aaa to be able to open the door. Jumped the battery to move the car. Still frozen in gear. Had it towed to two dealers. Said the clutch was destroyed. Prior to this issue, not one problem. I had to pay 250. 00 for diagnostics to tell me clutch was burned out. I have driven over 34 years and always had a manual transmission. After clutch was replaced, it did it again and again. At this point, we bought a new battery. Once again, I called aaa and they jumped the battery. I am requesting an investigation into the constant electrical freeze. I would like a refund of the diagnostic. Charges and repairs. Clutch was installed for 1500. 00. Battery was120. 00. Please call andrea mcintosh. 5132936906. As soon as possible. Alt number is 5132386842. Power train problem.

4 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/08/2019

My axle broke in half basically, and my mechanic said he's only seen that one other time and it was also in a Honda Civic. Also, two other people who work on cars said they've never seen this, that it usually fails at the cv joint and said it sounded like there was a defect. I was going from first gear to second (manual transmission), and all of a sudden it wouldn't go, and there was a clunking noise. I had to have it towed to the mechanic's which cost me $167, and the repair is going to be approximately $200. I do not have documentation of either right now as it is in the shop as I write this waiting for the part. I just felt that since this seems to be out of the ordinary in terms of how this failure usually occurs, I thought I should report it.

5 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/10/2018

My car (manual) was parked in first gear on an incline in my jobsite parking lot. The emergency brake was not engaged. Within 1-2hrs it rolled back nearly hitting my place of business and an ac unit. It is all on camera. It rolled some, then stopped, then again rolled and stopped. It has never done this in the past but I typically have the e-brake engaged. Days before, I was sitting in my same vehicle after it was parked for several minutes and it jerked suddenly. It did not roll back at this time.

6 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/08/2018

Issues: under splash / guard falling down - yonkers Honda service parts state it is physical damage for the under splash guard to fall down and not possibly the screws getting loose. Yonker service parts said it was normal wear and tear and that I must of went over something that pulled down the under guard. I now have 11,900 miles and car under 2 years old. Initially I had to go to a local dealer to not replace but to put screws in, so I could go to my Honda service to inspect why this happened on a new car. I was only charged $71 to put screws in. All parts were still intact after splash dropped and I had to drive to get my service to a place closer home because dragging my under guards would mean greater damage. By the time I made it to Honda service, the splash dropped again and Honda stated I needed to replace the underguards that were still in tact but a little bent from dragging. They said it was external physical damage and not a defect and then quoted me $400 and put ties up so I can drive the car. I looked up the parts at a Honda parts service dealer and the parts I am quoted are way more than what I noticed for the market. Four months into having my car, all 4 car windows come halfway down after exiting the car and pressing down the lock with remote. No information on why this is happening in the Honda manual. Honda sevice auto parts advisor stated this is normal and there was nothing to do. Photos show initial fall of under splash in January.

7 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2017 Honda Civic

Tpms light comes on when tire pressures are ok. Light comes on in dashboard after recalibating per owner's manual and after driving about 40 miles.

8 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/14/2016

Tire pressure monitoring system light erroneously illuminated at about 750 miles while travelling on interstate. . . Car brand new. . . Checked all pressures at 65f cold and all at pressures specified on door jamb. . . Did not find any punctures or objects in tire. . . Haven't taken it to dealer but I manually reset system by "calibrating. . . " light is now back at about 825 miles. . .

10 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/12/2015

Upon viewing an accident in front of me, I parked on side of road, applied emergency flashers, called 911 (hand held- not attached to car) and was removing keys from ignition & trying to open driver side door & exit car to render aid. Car door would not open. I unlocked door manually at handle. Still would not open. I re-inserted key, turned engine on, pushed door open button. Door not open. (I was dialing & talking with 911 operator during this time. I was getting excited about need to get to victim(s) of accident, but couldn't get out of my car. I eventually climbed over middle console to exit car from passenger's door. Now-- driver's door still can not be opened from the inside, but works as usual from the outside. . This is very concerning. This is the first time I experienced this problem and it scared me of the implications, afterwards. If I had been involved in emergency and needed to exit car quickly, I would not have been able to do so.

11 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2014 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/25/2015

As my husband was turning a corner, the clutch dropped, and the service center reported that the clutch fibers are torn up. Cost of repair = $1700. We have been lifelong manual transmission drivers. We do not misuse vehicles, and the clutch going out so soon for us in particular is indicative of a manufacturing problem rather than operator error.

12 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/24/2014

Manual transmission Honda Civic lx 2004 reaches rattling/grinding noise when reached 2000 rpm or so. The noise is loud and downshifting becomes very rough. The car slows down when not pressing accelerator. Even when in neutral the car sounds with a rattle. Only when the clutch is pressed does the sound minimize. Car feels vulnerable when driven like this. It's mainly due to the noise, and feeling of the car. The input shaft bearing is the problem. Many reports were blogged and diagnosed. The car still runs. Unfortunately it's not clear for how long.

13 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/06/2014

Heavy, loose objects in trunk struck & broke off trunk latch assembly, preventing rear hatch from being opened in any way, including remote. (no external trunk keyhole exists. ) since rear seat fold-down releases are located in the trunk, one of the rear seats need to be unbolted to be able to pull the seat release, remove the seat, and manually unlatch the trunk. The design of the rear latch is not protected against strikes from heavy objects and is therefore susceptible to damage under normal driving conditions. If the latch were to break, the vehicle get a flat tire, and the driver unable to remove the rear seat for lack of tools or know-how, the driver would be unable to access the spare tire and be stranded.

14 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

15 Owners/service Manual problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/03/2013

Sun visors have become loose and do not stay in upright position. Distracting and disrupts view. Cannot see traffic signal (lights) unless I take my hand from steering wheel to hold sun visor in upright position. Not safe, not practical, especially since I have manual transmission. This is an obvious design flaw with Honda Civic. Both visors hang in down position, will not remain up. Expensive to repair sun visors, as much as $60 per visor. Honda knows this is a flaw and needs to repair same at their expense.

16 Owners/service Manual problem of the 1996 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/01/2012

The window on the driver's side continually comes off the track. I have had it fixed, but it still comes off and it is very difficult to get the window back up. I have no children and usually ride alone to work so no one 'plays' with the up/down button. The window on the passenger side will sometimes not come up. I have to have someone manually pull it up while I press the button. This has been going on for a number of years.
