2006 Honda Civic lx overly acidic battery that caused a small fire and damage to the positive cable resulting in a $500 replacement. . I think that Honda shoudl have to pay for the replacement cable due to an inferior design.

2006 Honda Civic had 35,000 checkup on Aug 23,2010 - on sept 30 the car refused to start after grocery shopping - oct 1 local dealer told me that the battery need replacing at a cost of $1040, including towing. I was told that no the battery problem should not have been found on 8/23 and that it could happen overnight - that there is no way to determine when your car will die! the battery is not connected to the electrical system so nothing shows up on the dashboard display until the system has failed! the outrageous price for replacing a battery costing $79 - $135 is related to the cost of replacing the necessary harness which is burned through by the battery acid. I think this "design flaw" - so identified, as above information was, by the local service consultant - needs to be corrected and owners warned. If there is no way to identify the potential then how am I to trust the car even when the harness and battery are replaced?.
My 2009 Honda Civic will often not start on days where the vehicle has been sitting for several hours in temperatures below 55 degrees fahrenheit. Even when the vehicle does start, it struggles to fire up, and the idle is rough for a few seconds. The Honda dealership tested the battery and stated that it was good; the indicator light on the battery itself also revealed that the battery is fine. I believe Honda supplied batteries with insufficient cold cranking amps. This problem only manifests itself in "cold" temperatures. This is not an isolated issue, I have spoken with multiple individuals with late model Honda Civics with the same problem.

My 2007 Civic hybrid is experiencing a problem with the ima. As I am driving, the battery charge will be reduced to zero or one bars. I drive with the flow of traffic and normally do not exceed 55 mph. This normally occurs within the first 15 minutes of driving my car. It is most noticeable when starting from a dead stop. The car accelerates extremely sluggishly and the rpm's reach around 4500 to approach the speed limit (50 mph). Gas mileage when this occurs drops to about 20-25 mph. I have taken this car into the dealership for repairs on 4 separate occasions to get this repaired. The dealership has been unable to reproduce the problem and has made minimal attempts to try and repair the car. The only repair attempt made was to reset the computer in the car. This has accomplished nothing and the problem is still ongoing. This could become a much more serious problem when trying to make a left turn or when trying to merge.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Civic. While driving 2 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning. In addition, there was a total loss of power. The contact stated that he was unable to restart the vehicle and he had to receive a jumpstart. As of April 11, 2008, the dealer had not inspected the vehicle. The contact stated that he replaced the battery and he was able to restart the vehicle. The repair shop stated that the dead battery was the wrong battery for his vehicle. The current and failure mileages were 25,727. Updated 04/25/08
the consumer stated when he stopped the vehicle, it locked in gear.

Under humid conditions, the main battery of this hybrid suddenly drains, leaving the car without the electric motor. In this vehicle, this means that there is very limited torque (normally supplied by the electric motor). This first occurred in the summer of 2007 and has continued with increasing frequency to the present time. This brought to the attention of the selling dealership (southern motors of savannah) in August of 2007 and at the end of September of the same year. They claimed they could find nothing wrong despite being shown photographic evidence of the failure. The car was returned to the dealership on August 8, 2008 with further proof of the problem. The have claimed that they contacted american Honda and were told that Honda was aware of the problem but had found no solution. The car was returned to me on August 27, 2007 with the condition unresolved.
The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic hybrid. In late April of 2007, the engine light, ica light, and battery light illuminated while exiting the highway at 10 mph. The vehicle stopped accelerating and the failure occurred three times. The dealer performed a repair on the vehicle, but the failure still occurs. The current mileage is 5,400 and failure mileage was 3,500.
Dt contact stated the indicator lights for the oil, engine, and battery came on the dashboard. The vehicle had high idle. The vehicle went into auto stop in all gears. One could turn right or left and the vehicle will shut off. She contacted the dealer, they did some type of work to the vehicle. The contact was having the same problem with the vehicle. She contacted the dealer again. The dealer stated vehicle did not work properly due to driver's error. Also, she stated the passenger's side air bag indicator light will come on and off. The dealer stated that the diagnostic test did not show that the indicator light came on. The dealer offered no assistance at this point.
2001 Honda Civic srs light is illuminated. The dealership has inspected and reset three times. The first time they claimed that my purse, which I sometimes put on the seat, must be too heavy. The second time they replaced the battery on a car with less than 8,000 miles. The third time they insisted that I must be putting articles heavier than 10 pounds on the seat. I have been careful about leaving the seat clear. The light came on within a couple of weeks of the last reset.

After I replaced a failed battery in our 2000 Honda Civic, the car ran rough after getting warm and stalled twice in traffic. While no one suffered more than rattled nerves in this case, it is possible that someone could be injured or killed in such circumstances. I subsequently found from the dealer at a cost of $162 that the car loses track of its idle setting when the battery is replaced and it has to be re-entered. This information is not in the owners manual. This is both a stupid and unsafe design, let alone expensive. Changing a battery is a common and ordinarily simple procedure practiced by millions of people. I think Honda should have to send warning car owners of this "feature" of their car and how to reset the code them selves or with instruction to take it to a dealer who will reset it at no cost. Alternatively, Honda should be required to retrofit the cars with non volatile memory so the car does not require such service. I don't know when this feature was added to Honda designs, but it does not happen on our earlier model. Our experience may be just the tip of a coming iceberg.
1- car has had problems with srs light for several years now
2- number of things done to fix and still not fixed - this is a completely stock vehicle from the factory- no moods! the dealer says with the srs light on the car absolutely has no airbags that will work. 3- changed the battery, took it into a dealer and he reset it, still not fixed. Dealer says they can't do anything about it.

I purchased a 2001 Honda Civic coupe ex, in November 2000. It has been nothing but problems ever since. Ive been to two different Honda service centers almost 20 times now. The car has 23,000 miles on it and has gone through 3 sets of brakes. The car completely died on two occasions, both needing battery to be boosted. Then all of the dashboard lights were flashing crazy. On one of those occasions, it died right in front of Honda, after they assured me that my car was fine. This has been an ongoing problem with Honda. They fail to find any of the serious problems that are continuing. The car makes all kind of rattling and clicking noises when driving, Honda finds nothing. The windows/windshield fog up, defroster does not work well, Honda finds nothing. All four tires are leaking, Honda at first find nothing wrong, now say I have to replace tires. The driver's seat is loose and rocking, Honda replaced seat track twice, problem continues, took car in again for seat, Honda finds nothing wrong. Seat rocking gets worse, making load noise when driving, afraid for safety. Now the car is getting worse, car brakes without putting foot on brake, car is sluggish, driving funny. I think this is the transmission that is going to go bad. It stalls to start very often, then completely failed twice, needing boost. Im very concerned for my safety at this point. I even reached out to Honda consumer affairs in California, they did not help at all, in fact they were rude and even threatened me, while I had the rental, to report the rental stolen because I asked if I could hold the rental until Honda fixed my car (especially since the car had died right in front of Honda, and to make matters worse, my car was dented, twice, while being "fixed" by Honda that day as well) I am completely disgusted with the car and the service ive gotten. There are numerous other problems I didn't list here, too many to list. I would appreciate any help in this matter, thank you.
While driving at 30 mph, battery and oil light illuminated. Then, engine died. Another driver almost rear ended consumer. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide any further information.
