Body Problems of Honda Civic - part 2

My went to the Honda dealership and I advised them that the paint on my brand new Honda Civic was peeling. They said they can't do anything and to report it to muy insurance. I have pictures of how horrible my car is getting.

The inside hatch panel leaks water through it. It is available for inspection if requested. The problem has not been reproduced by dealership or independent service center.

The paint began flaking off in dime size chunks after a car wash. Primarily around the back windshield but also around the gas door cover. I brought it to a body shop to be checked on. They said this was a common thing they see in Civics from 2017, and it is a manufacturing defect.

The exhaust pipe fell off the catalytic converter. Upon some research on the internet, I have found that this is a common issue for this specific car model.

I started to wash my car and the paint on the roof between the windshield and sunroof started peel quite significantly. I showed my local Honda dealership and they told me to call american Honda motor and they told me there is nothing they can do. I went to 5 different body shops in my area and they all have said that Honda should be covering the repair due to it being a manufacturing issue.

The assembly of the 2013 Honda Civic ex was missing the rear bumper impact absorber. The component was not noticed until a collision removed the rear bumper from the car, exposing the interior of the assembly. The omission of the impact absorber in the bumper assembly from the manufacturer directly puts my safety at risk because this part is designed to absorb energy in a collision, and without the part I am more likely to be in a more serious accident. This problem was first noticed by the service shop who had confirmed that the part was missing from the assembly, and that it was a safety feature of the vehicle. The component had only been inspected by the independent service shop. There was no indication of the missing component before the accident.

3 out of 4 doors have stopped opening from the outside. The locks still work properly and have no effect on the outside door handles. The doors still open just fine from the inside, except for the driver door. The driver door will not open at all, which is a major safety issue and should have been recalled, especially since the door handles are well known issue for Hondas. Although the car does have minor damages to the body, the door handles have not been affected at all by them. This seems to be an issue that lies inside the door panel itself.

My 2019 Honda Civic is experiencing paint chipping on the mirrors and door handles. I've noticed others reporting similar problems. The paint is literally bubbling off. When I contacted Honda of America, they acknowledged that it's atypical and indicative of a product defect, but stated they couldn't assist as it's out of warranty and no recalls have been issued at this time. It’s crazy to me a car that spends the majority of the time in a garage has this type of issue. Keep in mind that I live in southern California where we don’t experience much in the realm of harsh weather.

While driving on a highway my sunroof randomly shattered. There were barely any cars around me. Nothing his my sunroof it just shattered randomly.

Sunroof exploded upwards. Nothing hit the sunroof and there was no existing damage.

Water is leaking out of the trim of the hatch from inside of the vehicle when the hatch is in the open position.

Paint on hood started chipping away few months back. Now entire car hood paint is peeled off and starting to get corrosion perforation. Some parts of hood shows material fatigue and potential to have structural damage/holes into hood. Vehicle was inspected by authorized dealer (autonation Honda hollywood, florida) of Honda. Report # 215502. Case number with american Honda motor company 14510298. Both dealer and manufacturer refused to acknowledge that issue warrants any remediation mentioning that VIN number and color of vehicle is not part of the recall. Honda does have similar recalls for paint peeling off for different color codes and have extended warranty to 7 years from date of manufacturer. Issue is wide spread and can be seen by multiple complaints and manufacturer communication section of NHTSA. Gov website. Issue is affecting other color codes than the one Honda acknowledged in prior recalls. Honda need to address the issue diligently to have issue correct to prevent further damage to hood and potential safety hazard at high speed.

My trunk opens on it’s own while riding down the road! every day several times a day I have to pull over and close my trunk because it opens on its own! it’s very dangerous as I have had things fly out of my truck bc of this! I just bought the car in October 2022! there are a lot of other complaints online when I looked up why does my trunk keep opening on my 2019 Civic! from my understanding it is the 2019-2020 Honda Civics! it happens every day!.

Exterior paint is badly bubbling and peeling in multiple locations (around rear window, around rear license plate, top of trunk. I reported issue to the dealership when I took it in for service and they cannot/will not help to repair and cover the cost of repair. Yes, my car is available for inspection upon request.

On 01/15/2023 my son was driving on a highway in our 2019 Honda Civic lx when he heard a scary grinding sound under the car. He was forced to stop on the side of the highway only to discover that the splash shield at the bottom of the car was almost disconnected from the car itself. Upon closer inspection at home, we discovered that splash shield is only held in place by 3 fasteners instead of 8 that is needed. Quick internet search shows numerous cases when the splash shield is not installed correctly after the oil change causing it to disconnect eventually. The oil change on the was performed on 08/01/2022 at Honda city dealership. No one touched the bottom of the car afterwards. We contacted the dealership and on 01/16 I had a conversation with a manager who advised to visit it. On 01/17 my son went there and was told that it disconnected for unknown reasons and dealership is not responsible. The dealership manager stated, engine splash cover disconnected by “natural causes”. An unexpected loud grinding noise while driving on a highway almost caused an accident (he almost lost control of the car). If it is a design issue (as stated there are numerous cases of engine splash guard disconnecting documented online) I believe Honda must issue a recall to replace it / address the issue.

Paint is peeling from section of roof between windscreen and sunroof. Case opened with Honda na and new york state attorney general's office.

This year, the paint on both side view mirrors and door handles started chipping away. The vehicle is a 2019, so it is less than 4 years old. There is no reason that the paint in those specific areas should be chipping away already except for a factory defect.

The nh-788p white orchid pearl paint that was given an extended warranty due to a "paint peeling problem" on the fit and hr-v models is now affecting Civics. I currently own a 2017 Civic hatchback with the same paint, from the same country of manufacturing origin, within the same time frame, and was never given an extension warranty and currently am being denied help. The worst paint peeling, under the trunk, is actually protected from weather . . . This is easily a defect that originated from Honda. Honda is denying any responsibility at the moment, refuses to help me via phone calls or email defaulting to the response of "your car isn't under warranty. " even though they have acknowledged issues and provided coverage for different models and canada covers my situation unlike the USA: [xxx] had I know about this defect with my car with an official statement from Honda, it would have impacted my choices back in 2020 and 2021. I would of sold it around 2021 or contacted Honda earlier to settle these issues that would of happened under the extended warranty if I was given one. Honda's constant inaction once again damages consumers everywhere where the repair for paint is roughly 60% of the value of the car itself . . . The paint on my 2019 Civic coupe began to completely flake off inside the fuel door jam. The primer is completely exposed. There was no scratching or dent or any kind of impact that could have brought on the paint damage since the area is tucked away. I brought my car to the dealership today and they took pictures to document the occurrence and are escalating my concerns. Hopefully this will be covered under Honda's extended paint warranty (which I've read only affects certain models and years).

My paint is peeling off around the rear windshield of the car. Not sure what is causing this. My Honda Civic is a cobalt blue color, when brought to the dealer it was stated they have seen this on the color blue my car is as well as white. Car was not in a accident and no one is at risk.

Peeling paint.

After a low impact car accident frint end collision seatbelt on driverside will not release and horn does not work despite no airbag deployment. Also paint on several parts of car look like chalk.

Paint chipping off of vehicle around rear windshield.

The trunk lid does not remain open once lifted up and must manually be held open with one hand. I needed to use both hands to remove something from my trunk yesterday. The trunk lid closed while I was doing so and the metal latch of the trunk lid slammed into my forearm. A golf ball-sized knot started forming almost immediately and I am in a lot of pain today. I am trying not to seek medical assistance today, but will probably end up doing so.

I purchased my car in December 2018. My car is a 2019 Honda Civic si coupe I didn’t have any problems with my car other than two big dents on the top next to my sunroof. I notified the dealership in the beginning of summer of 2022 and they looked at it and told me that that was caused by me going too fast on a corner he literally told me with a straight face and I was very mad so I took it to a body shop explain to him and showed him what the problem was. He then told me that he had another car come in for the same problem and I’m wondering if anybody else is having the same problem. The body shop owner told me that that was caused by some weak points on the structure from the sunroof and to repair it. They would have to take some of the interior out and straighten it out from the inside if anyone else is having this problem, please let me know.

Air bags:  passive restraint system items and devices that protect occupants in a crash such as front, side, side curtain air bag light stayed on after taken to a recall devices that may present a safety hazard. Body: windshield panel flew away ,failure or detachment body and frame components flew away all body pain pilled away with no reason, and other structural components like inside of car sieling cover pilling off like that may present a safety hazard. Steering: devices and systems used to control vehicle direction to the driver's intent such steering rack/box leaking, hydraulic power steering pumps problem like alot noise and hoses leaking that may present a safety hazard.

Actuator assy. , fuel lid (fuel fill door lock actuator). Repeatedly locks and unlocks (making a gun shot noise loudly) every time I get in and out of the vehicle. Yes, it is available for inspection at any time. My safety or the safety of others could be at risk with the open gas cap, constant moving electrical components, and to be left stranded unable to open the gas door. The problem was talked about with the Honda dealership. They said it was a common problem. That Honda knows about. No warning lamps or any notification.

Paint pealing/chipping near edges of both driver and passenger side window.

Windshield crack on passage edge with no impact or cause at 2,000 miles. Noticeable sounds like sand constantly hitting windshield or air whooshing around was heard prior to seeing small line crack starting from passage side edge. Safety concern is the windshield install issue or faulty glass and vehicle body safety issues. Took vehicle to Honda dealer and service representative took visual assessment stated, no impact mark but something caused it then focused tip of a pen into crack and stated a small item must have hit it and it isn't a manufacturer issue.

Paint is chipping around the back windshield and is starting to cause paint chipping towards the top of the vehicle. Have never been in a collision.

The car had damage because in the carfax they gave me on the left side of the car the shock absorbers fail and I always had that problem also the moldings the first time I cleaned it also fell apart at the time to revere and turn to the right when it is going back it has such an annoying noise.

Paint on the vehicle is chipping off and getting oxidized. It started happening an year ago and its never ending. We are able to see the patches almost everywhere on the body of the car.

No one was hurt. Just a finder binder to my car only. The other drivrr had a truck and it didnt do any damage to back bumper.

Paint chipping off. According to 2 different body shops, this is a factory issue with improper priming. Honda of north America is refusing to acknowledge and repair the car.
