3 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/25/2012

Today, I was driving my wife s 2004 Honda Civic in the highway at about 60 miles per hr when all of the sudden the car started accelerating as if it was in cruise control. . I took my foot off the gas pedal and pressed the brake with little results. The brakes felt so hard as if they were locked. Then I decided to change gears to d2 and together with the emergency brake I was able to slow down the car a bit. After that, I pulled over the brake down lane at about 10 miles per hour but I still could not stop the car. With the help of the emergency brake I was able to stop the car however, the engine was still running as if it was accelerating. This is when I decided to put it on neutral and follow by a loud noise the engine finally stop running. . . . Thank god no one was hurt. . . .

4 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/12/2012

Uneven wear on the brakes to the point the left side of the car had very loud noise. Still have original tires on the vehicle with proper tread; car maintenance maintained. Paid $165. 00 for new bendix brakes (high quality) and rotor repair. Once noise started, brake pad went quickly!!! this happened again only 12,000 miles later (July 2013). Left outer brake pad at 10% while inner pad of left tire at 85%. Right tire, both pads at 90%. Still same original tires with a lot of tread, car maintenance maintained. Very little wear and tear on the car at all for other areas.

5 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2010 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/28/2011

I leased our brand new 2010 Honda Civic on 05/31/2010. Primarily I used the vehicle to commute from/to work. I am a very responsible driver and took a good care of the vehicle changing oil regularly, check liquids, etc. While driving on a highway on a sunny dry day on 07/28/2011 in the left lane with average speed 40 mph, the traffic ahead of me slowed down and I applied brakes and the brakes failed (did not work). I heard a metal sound and pushed a pedal stronger. I think the vehicle probably did not slow at all. I turned left to a shoulder in attempt to stop a vehicle and avoid a direct collision with a vehicle in front of me. I believe I could get much worse injuries if I had not done this turn. Driving in a shoulder I pushed the brake pedal as hard as I could and tried to straighten my car's trajectory and stop it in a shoulder, but my car fishtailed out of control, consistently deviating to the left where concrete highway divider was and did not stop. Very loud noise was coming out of the front of the vehicle all the time since I applied brakes, which prove that the brakes failed. I constantly tried to straighten it until my car collided in to the vehicle in the left lane. A result of this was a four car accident and eight body injuries including myself. And the worst part was my insurance company consider it to be my fault!!! I called Honda several times asking them to take the vehicle for brakes inspection because obviously there was something very wrong with my vehicle. And it most likely was a manufacturing defect which can cause more accidents/injuries in the future. After the accident a car was not drivable. They advised me to hire a tow truck $150 on my own expense and bring a car there and have paid checkup, which can be anything between $500 and $2,000. My car was 18k miles when the accident happened. Be careful with that car!!!.

6 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2010 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/12/2011

Honda Civic 2010 was purchased new. At the initial service appointment the vehicle had 9,000 miles. The front brakes were checked at the request of the owner. The rotors were found to be in very poor condition as were the pads. The rotors and pads were replaced. Shortly after the second service appointment, the owner of the vehicle experienced the front brakes grabbing, and heard a loud noise coming from the front of the vehicle. The vehicle had 18,000 miles. This was in December, 2011. The vehicle was returned immediately to the dealer at which time the front pads were found to be in very poor condition, and were replaced.

7 Brake Loud Noise problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/26/2010

I bought my 2008 Honda Civic lx in June 2008. At 15,000 miles I had a bunch of brake problems (loud noises, difficulty stopping). I brought the car into the dealership where I bought it and was told I had "contaminated" brake pads. They replaced them for free. Six months later, I was having the same problem. Took it in again to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong. I have continued to feel uneasy about my brakes as they don't stop like the three other cars I have had. Now, at 41k screeching noises have started again. They started on a Friday and I took the car to the same dealership Monday morning. They told me I have barely any brake pads left and it must be due to my driving. (incorrect as I mainly did highway driving and now have a 7 minute commute to work. ) the dealership was absolutely horrible, claiming it is my issue and they are not responsible.
