2 Car Stall problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/27/2020

Honda has produced faulty engine blocks on Civic models from 2006-2009 that tend to crack. This is a safety issue as it can cause the car to stall on a highway and lead to an accident. Honda extended their warranty from 7 to 10 years instead of issuing a recall even though they know they sold a faulty product. On Tuesday, oct 27th 2020, driving home from work the car temperature gauge maxed out and shaking was felt as if the car was going to stall. Luckily, this occurred coming off the highway and while driving on city streets and near my residence and not while on the highway where the car could have stalled and caused a dangerous situation. The vehicle was taken to Honda service center the following day for a diagnostic check and it was determined that the engine block had cracked. The engine cracking was the reason the cars warranty was extended to 10 years but the extension of the warranty to my vehicle has expired. Honda has quoted me $6,395. 40 to replace a known faulty engine block. I believe a faulty engine block creates an unsafe condition to all drivers and should be replaced by Honda before someone gets hurt.

9 Car Stall problem of the 2014 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/02/2019

I have a 2014 Honda Civic with 136000 on the car that has a transmission problem starting. Some 2014 Honda Civic were recalled for a transmission problem yet my vehicle, 2014 Civic model miss the recall. All Civics have a pretty similar setup as far as the engine and transmission. As far as Honda goes they are known for there engines lasting a while and having no issues yet I have a transmission issue that is yet unknown and will cost at least 5k to fix. Over the past few days the cars ability to accelerate and downshift has gotten worse. This car has a automatic transmission yet when you slow down then go to accelerate the car jumps gears, you get the feeling as if you are on a motorcycle and it stalls and jumps forward. Along with that there's a slight noice that is working overtime. (incident occurs around 2mph-65).

10 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/01/2019

My air condition compressor is defective and leaking the new very flammable refrigerant r1234yf gas out from the compressor itself. The shaft seal seems to be where it is leaking. This is a known problem and Honda should issue a recall to replace all of the defective compressors they installed in their cars.

11 Car Stall problem of the 2018 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/15/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2018 Honda Civic. While at a red light, the vehicle stalled. The gear had to quickly be shifted into park to restart the vehicle. In addition, the brake hold indicator flashed without the contact activating the feature. The button had to be manually pressed to prevent the warning indicator from flashing. The contact had to disengage the brake system to maneuver the brake pedal as a safety precaution while the vehicle was in motion. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was not available.

12 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/15/2019

On 3/15/2019 I was driving on a city street when multiple warning lights illuminated (check engine, brake malfunction, ima battery, charging malfunction). The car was towed to the dealership. Once there, they determine that the problem was related to rodents chewing from wires which damaged the fuel line and ima system. After this was repaired, the car still had failure codes due to mechanical issues with the car's system. Troubleshooting led the technician to determine that the motor power inverter needed to be replaced. This required them to also have to replace the junction board. After they were installed, the ima light stayed on, the battery would not charge, and the car continued to recode. They had to put in a test mcm and a second mpi (since the first one malfunctioned as well). This occurred over the course of almost two months. They could not determine a specific cause that led to the system malfunction, so it appeared to be a manufacturing issue. I was charged for the repairs as well as almost two months of rental car fees.

17 Car Stall problem of the 2000 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/04/2018

Car is sluggish up hills and is now stalling around turns with power steering going off. Car is a 5speed and when put on gas it restarts. Mechanic replaced spark plugs and crank sensor but problem got worse. Wondering if ignition switch could be issue as I see it was an issue on other Civic models. Mechanic both at Honda and our personal could not figure out what's wrong and problem keeps coming up despite supposed fixing. We've spent over $1,000 already trying to fix it.

18 Car Stall problem of the 2018 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/28/2018

Since shortly after I got my car, brand new, it started to stall a little bit as I went to turn, if I had to stop or slow down beforehand. It got worse as time went on. I told Honda before my first year was up and he told me to just take off eco. I did, but eventually it started doing that without eco. I'm afraid it's gonna do that when I have to turn left onto a busy road and not be able to get out of the way fast enough. Both eco and non eco should work efficiently. The date below is an estimate of when it started. It's been a couple years.

This is a 2017 Honda Civic hatchback. I cannot start the car suddenly. Battery is ok. Aaa removed the battery and reinstalled it, then the car can start. However, the Honda dealer said with the battery removing, the error code was removed so cannot find the root cause. The dealer said most probably it was related with a software error.

23 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 10/13/2016

Car stalls; with no warning just turns off this happens with no rhyme or reason and has happened multiple times many of which is not documented because it was not taken into a dealer; I could not afford a tow. I have now signed up for aaa and had it towed into a dealer this last occurrence. Documented with dealerships on 5/12/16 car had 396 miles on it; 6/3/16 car had 2722 miles on it; 10/13/16 car had 10745 miles on it and this is the time the service department had it happen to them nine times before it suddenly stopped happening. Happened going 75 mph going down the interstate. Happens when pulling out of a parking lot. Happens driving down a city street. Have contacted Honda corp (case#05150093) and asked for help but have not had a resolution. The Honda service department has recreated the issue (copy of service ticket attached) then all of a sudden they could not get it to happen again so they told my son to come get it and drive it until it happens again then call them to tow it back in. This car is unsafe and he could lose his life and potentially many others. Please help. I don't want to lose my son or any other life be taken because Honda will not stand behind their product.

24 Car Stall problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/29/2016

Vehicle hesitates under acceleration. Sometimes almost stalling. I feel this is not safe for my son at times. Merging etc. I called Honda service and they said they have had this issue come up with other people. They said it had to do with the econ mode. I drove the car with it off and still does it at times. Very concerned. I am taking it in to find out what is going on. Not good!.

25 Car Stall problem of the 1999 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/01/2016

Car stalls unexpectedly. This happened twice, luckily on local streets and at very slow speeds. Both times car restarted easily. Honda had replaced the ignition switch on recall back in 2003 by the original owner--I'm the second owner-- but now with over 200,000 miles the problem seems to have returned. Called american Honda and they suggested I have the problem diagnosed at a Honda service center at my expense. $110 cost. If the ignition switch is proven defective, they will reimburse all expenses but only after approval from american Honda for a second replacement. Decided to have my own mechanic fix the problem and then send the bill to Honda with documentation. To be continued. . .

26 Car Stall problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/18/2016

I reported during the last oil change that the car was stalling specifically when trying to accelerate between 10 mph & 30 mph. The car stalls, and has even completely stopped for a full 60 seconds while trying to change lanes in traffic even though the gas pedal was completed depressed. This almost caused me to have an accident. The tech said it was due to the econ button and the engine trying to conserve energy. I was told to not use the econ button (although this is suppose to save me money on gas and fuel efficiency and part of the allure of the vehicle. ) despite that I have had the econ button off and the car continues to stall and not accelerate properly. Again this is usually between 10 mpg to 30 mph. I don't know if this is a transmission problem or part of the pistol pin snap ring problem or even possibly a fuel injector problem. The problem appears to be getting worse and occurring more frequently. My husband has the same type and year vehicle and his does not behave the same way. His acceleration appears to be fine and does not stall as mine does. Also the tire pressure gauge has come on twice for no apparent reason. Once was 8-15-15 during a 4 hour road trip which occurred after we arrived. The 2nd time was immediately after I returned home from my last oil change in 4-2016. This is the (3rd) reported problem with this vehicle. Problem (1) was the stained headliner (6/2015)which was replaced and has not had any further issues (2) was the center console pin coming loose and popping up (4-2016) which has currently remained intact and now the acceleration is getting worse. (continuously).

27 Car Stall problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/09/2016

I purchased the new car on 11/30/2015. Since then, it has been driven 22 miles. I learned of recall on 2/9/16 on news. I was not contacted by dealer or Honda about it. I contacted dealer on 2/11/16 who in turn contacted Honda. Being a new car with only 22 miles on it (3 trips--the first being the drive home from the dealership), I requested a replacement. I believe this is more than reasonable. . Honda refused. I was advised tools to examine for the problem and repair parts were not available. Since the car can not be fixed at this time, it is a safety liability, and Honda was not willing to do the right thing, I filed a lemon law complaint with the ohio attorney general. They were of no help with Honda now refusing to refund my money or replace the car. To date ( 2/25/16), I have received no recall paperwork from Honda. They expect to send it out sometime in March. Driving this vehicle presents potential dangerous safety- liability issues for me, my family, passengers and others should it stall, cause an accident or catch fire. I did not buy this new vehicle to drive under these conditions. But since Honda announced the recall and stop sales order on 1/29/2016 until now, this is what I face and who knows how long it will continue. Parts may be available this summer. What are we supposed to do? this is not the new car experience I expected, and I did not buy the car to be injured, to damage the engine, or be held responsible for an accident with my insurance picking up the tab. I am not the only 2016 Civic owner in this situation. Why so long to notify us of this dangerous recall to the engine no less? I see Honda has indemnified itself. What about us and our safety? I want my vehicle replaced or a refund. I did not buy a new vehicle to repair it with only 22 miles on it. This is far from the typical safety recalls we usually see.

30 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/25/2015

Climbing up hill the car lost speed and did not shift gears. Then it stalled. I believe this vehicle was recalled and not fixed by the dealership or it should have been recalled by Honda and was not. It exhibits the same drive shaft problems as recalled Honda Civics. While driving you only need to tap the shift by mistake with your elbow and the car goes into neutral. It is a dangerous car to drive.

33 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/01/2015

Vehicle frequently stalls when turning left after coming to a stop, very dangerous when oncoming traffic, read numerous other complaints online, Honda needs to fix this problem before someone hurt/killed (if not already, and how would we know because of their negligence to fix this problem despite all the complaints?), and no it is not due to "left foot braking".

34 Car Stall problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

The car loses power when going up hills and has stalled twice. If I lightly bump the shift while driving it goes into neutral. I must use the emergency brake when parked even on a flat surface or the car will roll.

35 Car Stall problem of the 1999 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/01/2014

I was driving my 1999 Honda Civic lx and out of no where it stalled coming up to a stop sign. No warning lights on the dash came on. It also gave a little shake while holding onto the steering wheel. It took a few ignition turns before it started back up. This was the start of many to come stalling out or several attempts at starting the vehicle. This happens intermittently. It will start. . . It won't start. . . It stalled. . . It did not stall. The car had a mind of it's own. Now, we took it to repair shop and they couldn't get it to not start. It started everytime while at the shop. In order to do a diagnostic test on the vehicle it would need to not start. It is dangerous to drive this vehicle as a result of stalling out without any warning and at any speed where a crash is inevitable. I researched this vehicle afterwards to find any recalls on it. Sure enough there was. It had a faulty ignition switch which causes the above symptoms. . . . . Stalling out and trouble starting. I never got a letter or mail of any kind stating there is a recall on this car's ignition switch. Why? there also is one other recall on this car, a fuel tank thermal insulator. No notice on that recall. What do I need to do to get these faulty recalls done? before there is a crash as a result of this manufacturer faulty equipment. .
