Severe motion sickness when driving on the interstate; thought it was just a "small car" problem but it was persistent all the way to chicago and back to san francisco. Basically, a roller coaster ride at interstate speeds and suspect that it is a faulty suspension design. Engine (would stall and then quickly accelerate problem) and driver wiped out after about eight thousand miles. The seat design is extremely poor and causes pinched nerves for passenger and driver. Maybe the car is just good for local short drives and the younger crowd. . . Was supposed to get my old, trade-in vehicle back but Honda service ran off with the car and I sold it on ebay/paypal but got entangled in more fraud (various loan frauds by Honda and then the ebay buyer ran a scam and never paid for the car according to paypal). So, then the car got stolen by the scam loan company associated with Honda. . . A total bad experience as well as defective car design.

First purchase brand new 2012 Honda Civic in November 2011, ran really great for first six thousand miles. Just under ten thousand I notice gas mileage got a lot worse and the check emission light comes on. Take it in to shop and they say OH thermostat is bad. Well thought strange at time car is new. Then at just under 14000 miles gas mileage is bad and engine revs at high rpm's check emission light comes on again. This time it was a software update??? well then at under 17000 miles check emission light again and this time in shop for three weeks. Thermostat again. Try calling american Honda and I get the sales manager who needs an attitude adjustment, and he says there is nothing wrong with my car. Then I am told by the service shop that this in no way has harmed anything and they replace thermo again run some test and still runs hot so they do it again and still runs hot and then Honda decides on a different thermostat that hasn't been released yet and install it. Well three weeks later I get my car and all I asked for was an extended warranty and they send me one that they want me to sign to release the of any powertrain issues and cooling issues. Cooling issues I understand but powertrain really I thought there was nothin wrong with my car???? all this time I am dealing with the rudist american Honda company customer service. Really upsets someone spen there hard earned money every month on a car payment and its like going to the store and paying for moldy bread. Not one time do they think about the consumer. Also interesting when picking car up on Friday they have another 2012 Civic low miles in shop for same issue. I live in a town in wv with 28,000 people and 1 Honda dealer coincidence?.

Vehicle blew a head gasket and over heated. Problem became progressively worse, and I have been advised by rick marichetti auto that this problem is common with the Honda Civic ex 1. 7 liter engine, and the source of the problem is a multilayer head gasket that Honda uses. This vehicle should be recalled, and Honda should be required to install new head gaskets that are not multilayer. In my case, the head gasket created a serious road hazard and it was difficult to find a place to pull over. And the problem happened with little notice at approximately 4300 feet, with snow and freezing cold weather. I had to pay almost $800 to have the vehicle fixed, with no guaranty the problem won't happen again. Honda should have recalled the head gaskets a long time ago.

Rides rough shakes feels that it's going to stall. Very obvious when stopping for red lights. Vibration occurs if I put the transmission in neutral. Sometimes it stops it but it does reoccur. Also the a/c makes the car vibrate even more. Was serviced however had to bring it back, paying $160. , in August 2012 for the same problem. They took it for a ride felt something in the steering wheel and proceeded to realign front wheels. Rode with a member of the service dept for a good 20 minutes and nothing happened to the car. When I drove the car home it happened again and, to date, it is still happening. A member of the service dept told me in confidence there is a relationship between the engine and the a/c but they haven't found how to fix it. I would like to know if other Civics complained about this problem.

My 2006 Honda Civic has stalled on me 7 times now. Every time it stalls, I am at a stoplight or stop sign and at a complete stop. The engine goes into idle mode and when the light changes or I can go, I take my foot off the brake and try or start to press the gas. Most of the time I don't even have the opportunity to press the gas pedal before the car stalls. The car completely shuts off. I have noticed the last two times that the car's ac was on during the stalls. Before I restart the car there isn't an error code or anything displayed. I have taken my car to a Honda dealership to have it tested and each time they connect it to a computer and tell me that there isn't anything wrong or they can't produce the problem. There isn't a fuel problem because I put shell gas in my car each and every time and I checked the air filter. I even had a technician at pepboys check the battery. Pepboys said the battery was in excellent condition. I have researched the problem and others on the internet say that it could be the computer's idle speed may need to be readjusted and some say the idle air control valve is faulty. I mentioned the idle air control valve to the Honda technician and they said that doesn't seem to be a problem. There is a problem because others have reported it and the car stalls.

Vehicle stalls without notice, can't accelerate anymore when it happens, have to throw hazard lights on and pull over into emergency lane. If not in motion, car will just stall, and cars behind will rear end my vehicle if not paying attention. This is a huge safety concern, it can cause an accident. I brought this up to american Honda, but, my VIN does not qualify for the recall they had on the electrical ignition switch. They directed me to have NHTSA add my VIN to the recall so that I may then qualify.

While turning left at a stop light (from a stationary position), the car stalls after 2 or 3 seconds in oncoming traffic. This has happened multiple times. The dealer's service department says they can find no history of such situations in their database and took no action. The problem occurs very frequently, particularly after idling for an extended period at long stop lights.
Yesterday I experienced sudden acceleration when applying the brakes. I was approaching a red light going downhill at about 40 mph. I applied the brakes and the engine accelerated with the rpms jumping to 3,000. I applied full brakes and the car kept moving towards the intersection. To avoid an accident, I put the car into neutral. Rpms went up to about 4,500. The car slowly stopped. When the light turned green I put it back in drive and the car stalled. I put the car in neutral and re-started it and the rpms were normal. I took it to the dealership today and they could not find the problem. Surveying the internet I can see lots of other acceleration issues with the 2006 Civics. The dealership was unaware of any problems. This could have caused a serious accident.

This problem occurred one time so far but I have a 2008 Honda Civic lx that I just bought used with about 25,500 miles on it. I bought it from a Honda dealership in south florida. It is a "Honda certified" vehicle. It almost stalled at a stop sign when I pressed the gas pedal. I don't know why it did this but it worries me. I had to release the pedal and re-press is slowly to get the car to go again. What if I need to get out into traffic?.

Car stalls and also sputters, feels like it is going to stall. This will occur when vehicle is slowing down (traffic) and the rpms will drop causing the vehicle to stall or almost stall. If vehicle doesn't stall rpms will shoot back up. In addition, shifter will get stuck when going from reverse into drive, drive into mark, and vise versa.

While driving through an intersection my wife's 2001 Honda Civic's engine died. After several attempts she was able to get it started again, drove it through the intersection and it died again and would not restart. She called aaa to have it towed to the only Honda dealer on our island. We asked the dealership to check and report the cause of the problem. The next day the dealer reported it had a code of "p1362" and need a new cylinder head at a cost of $5300. 00 for parts and labor. Prior to this incident the car always ran fine and was regularly serviced by a dealer. My question "how can a car with 58k miles, running fine suddenly need a new cylinder head? I had the dealer reinstall the cam cover (they charged us $100. 00) and drove it out (yes it was running). I'm worried that this will happen again and cause property damage and/or even loss of lives. If it needs a new cylinder head how can it now be running? I wouldn't imagine a cylinder head problem to be an intermittent issue. When living on a small island (kauai) you're at the mercy of the only dealer in town.
