1 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2012 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/30/2020

The vehicle seems to burn oil very fast even though it has been maintained properly throughout the years. I've had to fill up the oil 3 times between oil changes due to this issue and no leaks have been found after a thorough search.

4 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/09/2015

As the single owner and driver of an 06 Honda Civic that I purchased new and paid for in full, I have full service for the vehicle as recommended at the dealer site where it is purchased. I had the vehicle serviced for lube/oil/& oil filter change on 7/27/2015 and they also perform the multipoint inspection. In just 12 days, engine overheating occurred while I was driving on I-95. Upon my return home from work, I heard a humming I had never heard before. As I slowed down to listen closer to determine origin, I see that no engine lights. After few minutes, the temperature gauge indicated sever overheating, then the car sputters, rapidly losing power -I barely made it to the side of the road safely out of traffic on I-95 when the car shuts off and smoke. I had absolutely no warning or even a hint of a problem; no noises, no dash lights on, no issues with ignition, gears, or driving performance. I had to arrange the car tow to my dealer’s service department. After that, the dealer reports engine is completely burned, not drivable and not repairable. The oil strip burns half way. They don’t know what causes the engine overheated. This overheating problem is not due to the cracks that are included in the warranty extension. They don't cover the replacement cost. If we want to replace a engine, a used engine block is $5600. It looks like I will need to rent a car for at least next two weeks because I am still negotiating with my dealer about this issue and if it is covered by any warranty. They are unable to answer me what cause the issue when the car just finished its service and everything including engine condition is great. I could go on and on and on with the costs involved, time involved and the incredible inconvenience of this event…. . Not to mention the safety issue while driving on the high way!!!.

5 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/20/2015

I was driving my 2009 manual Honda Civic with a 55k on it and the temp outside was -20 f, on the high way at about 75 mph, nothing was abnormal on my dashboard and the car was on the 5 th transmission the car suddenly stopped responding to my acceleration and the engine light blinked three times before my engine completely stopped, it was freezing outside and there was a froth bite warning. I parked safely on the side thanks god there were no much of a traffic on the high way otherwise it would have been disastrous. I checked my battery and nothing was wrong with it, so I checked my oil which I just changed 10 days ago, I found out that my oil checking stick is completely burnt and the remains was black. At this time I was sure that it something bad. I towed the car to the mechanic and arrived safely to my home. I checked online on my warranty and recalls or bulletins, I found out that Honda has this problem and I called the Honda customer service and they told me sorry your car is not covered under this bulletin, an unresponsible car manufacturer who produced an engine that fails in 5 years after 55k and doesn't claim responsibility, no comment!!!!!. As if safety is the last thing that matters for those companies, putting me and my family at risk and claiming no responsibly for their product.

6 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/11/2013

"burning oil" we purchased the car at thurston auto in ukiah CA. It has burned excessive oil from day one. It burns 1 quart every thousand miles. Honda told me that is common for high performance engines. Thurston conducted their own test and did find the engine was burning 1 quart every thousand miles. They said the would put a new engine in but I would have to pay half. This was my daughters first car purchase and feels she was taken advantage of. She went on her own to purchase the car. Please let me know if there is anything that can be done. She has been trying for years to save the money for a new engine.
