My 18 year old son was out of town was on his way home on a highway. His Honda Civic's a/c began to be less and less cool. Then his temperature gauge quickly rose as far in the red that it could go. He pulled over and called us. We went to pick him up. There was no sign of a leak under his car but the antifreeze was low. We filled it up and drove it home. The next day we checked the antifreeze level and it was very low again with no sign of anything under the car. We took the car in and the antifreeze was leaking into the oil. We had one of the Civics that had the known issue of faulty manufacturing and the engine blocks were cracking around the 100,000 mile mark. This situation could have been potentially extremely dangerous as my son drove it on the highway often for school. Honda is taking no responsibility for the default because it was out of the extended warranty for that claim. Because it didn't happen sooner, does not make the defect less dangerous. My son was not injured because he made a intelligent decision about an issue that wasn't right. I worry for those that take the chance. No one wants their child stranded after dark because of something that Honda knows is a problem but wash their hands of if it doesn't happen in their time frame. These vehicles should not be on the road.

I took my car in for service today, and my mechanic found it was leaking from the engine block. He was stunned because he knows I have taken good care of my car, and he said he has never seen that happen in a Honda. He called two other mechanics over to look at it because he couldn't believe it. They told me I had done nothing wrong and this was obviously a flaw. One of the mechanics did a search and sure enough found out that this was a flaw that Honda knew about. I bought this car new from a Honda dealership in late 2015, and I had not heard about this issue. We discovered this morning that because of the flawed engine, Honda had extended the warranty on my engine to 10 years. Unfortunately, I have had the car for more than 11 years, so they said they will not help me. They actually told me that it was my responsibility to replace a part that they put in my car that they know is faulty just because I have owned the car for more than 10 years. The age of the car is irrelevant (although, for the record, it's in excellent condition) we called Honda headquarters twice today, and they are refusing to do anything. The only recourse they suggested is contacting the bbb. When we told them we didn't even know there was an issue, the representative said that Honda dealerships knew, but I haven't been to a Honda dealership in years for service. So, he basically told me I must get my oil changed at Honda dealerships in order to learn about secret problems with my car. I have taken excellent care of my car, and I have never had to have any work done on it besides routine maintenance. However, one of the reps I spoke with made my lovely car sound like a lost cause because it is nearly 12 years old with 128,000 miles on it. I repeatedly told him that we buy (or used to buy) Hondas because they last for hundreds of thousands of miles. I am still in shock and extremely disappointed.
My car always stayed at the appropriate temperature. Never any problems. Had my oil changed faithfully and fluid checked. At about 84,000 miles, my antifreeze leaked quite extensively, my engine was overheating. Took to the dealership, and my engine block was cracked. No ryme or reason for it. I heard that Honda gave Civic owners a 10-year warranty from date of purchase because of this problem. This problem occurred 10-years and 3 months after the date of purchase (may 2007). When this occurred, I was doing city streets and noticed it when it was stationery.

First week I purchased the car in tallahassee I had a major oil leak loose screws and and couldn't steer . First week I ran into the back of a safety police office while on campus at tallahassee community college we did the initial insurance report but she claim she wasn't hurt , I couldn't stop and when I hit her rear end I got whiplashed , this was my first car I didn't know anything about cars , the man just sold I to me with no warnings months later start receiving mail about a recall I squeduled but they never came and got the car so years later I just sold it to pick and pull cause it was in operability. On school campus.
I have a brand new 2016 Civic 1. 5t ex-l with 1,000 miles and a cracked engine block. We noticed the engine oil all over our garage. It's been leaking for a while, probably since we got it, but we didn't realize until today that the oil was coming from our brand new car. After our own investigation, we ruled out all of our other cars and took it into dealership today.
I have a 2006 Honda Civic lx with only 53,000 miles on it lately it has benn one repair after othet I had the tranmission done it would not go into reverse gear net it started to leak oil for the engine the seal was replaced next it leaked from another part of the engine I have a bill repairs in writing also the motor mount was cracked, and another seal had to be replaced I have invoice of payment for all this work starting from Nov of 2015 to present just picked my car up today for the leaks and a starter had to be put on car was dragging and not starting 5/7/2016 I also took my car to the dealer ship for over heating and was told they couldn't fine anything I was not pleased my car is under warranty for this problem but they did nothing about it but charged me 114. 00 to look at it this was unfair and shouldn't benn done as a good will check but I was treated like I had to bring my car there. The customer service rep. Was upset because my car had not been seen there for a while I can take my car were I want to take it but he was ruled by what he said to me. I take good care of my car, but there are too many problems with this Civic my 1989 Civic didn't have problems like this I feel I should get help with some of the money I have already paid out for the repairs my car is falling apart month by month and I need answers Honda need to stand by their product.
After routine oil change, by my mechanic, an oil leak was noted. After close inspection on a lift it turned out to be small fissures in oil pan metal(aluminum). The car has always been garaged, and never in an accident. The development in the metal is obviously a serious matter as an oil leak can have devastating consequences. I spoke to Honda(America) this afternoon and reported it.
I was driving about 50 mph when my car started slowing. No matter how hard I pushed the gas pedal it wouldn't drive over 30 mph. It then started smoking, so I pulled to the side of the road and called a tow truck. The repair shop said I had a cracked engine block and that the oil probably leaked completely out in a matter of minutes.
My 2009 Honda Civic si, bought new, has been leaking oil after oil change and the dealership service department cannot find why it is leaking except that it is coming from the filter. I was charged $100 for diagnostic fees that did not find any other fault besides a 'leaking filter'. The dealership simply asked me to bring the car in, change the filter, and continue this cycle until it doesn't leak anymore. The first incidence took 4 visits. I just had another scheduled service at a different dealership, and the car is leaking oil heavily in my driveway again. My car was not leaking oil when I brought it in for service. The oil is covering my suspension and various underbody components.
