1 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2015 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/05/2017

To whom it may concern: I have had my 2015 Honda Civic coupe since October of 2015. First issue, since I bought the vehicle I have noticed a strange clicking sound that happens once when you switch from reverse to drive. For example, I will put out of my drive way in reverse, go a couple yards in reverse, then come to a complete stop and switch it to drive. After I switch it to drive and then drive a couple yards forward, a weird clicking sound comes up, it is towards the front passenger side of the vehicle. I am not sure if it is an axle or hub, or knuckle. The second issue is, my ignition switch. It tends to heat up after a few minutes. The reason I say a few minutes is because, ill put the key into the ignition switch, then turn it and drive off for a couple of minutes around the block. Then ill come to a stop, put the car in park, and remove the key from the ignition, and the key will be extremely hot. The first time it happened, I put my keys in my jean pocket and it burnt me. It wasnt a bad burn to where it left me a scar or anything, but it was still a burn that is not normal.

2 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/05/2016

I had a total hub failure. Luckily I was only going about 9mph in a parking lot making a slight turn when the failure occurred. I had to have the mechanic replace the knuckle, hub, bearing, caliper and bracket along with abs sensor. If I would've been on the freeway it would've been really bad. The car has 95k miles and maintenances regularly.

3 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 08/01/2009

Front suspension steering there is a clonking or snapping sound when turning or making a u turn left. Took it to the Honda dealer and there was no cause for the noise. The dealer replaced the entire left front assembly; left drive shaft, cv joint, hub and bearings. Then the dealer checked the rack and pinion and found that they were not torqued correctly and was reset to factory specs. Well one year later the clonking and snapping sound slowly returned. And while making slow left turns. It happens on and off. Now its passed warranty.

4 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/17/2008

Purchased 2007 Honda Civic ex on 3/10/07. On 8/7/07 took car in for routine maint. Oil pan drain plug replaced. On 8/9/07 steering system made noise when turning. Took to dealer, no problem found. On 10/8/07 took car back to dealer with same issue. Dealer said "during assembly some rear wheel speed sensors may have been improperly installed and do not seal the hub assembly. Sensors were inspected and they deemed no repair necessary. On 12/26/07 took car to dealer for same noise when turning wheel. Steering wheel locked up when driving!! when accelerating, car made a whining type of noise. Dealer kept my car over night and found p/s pump whining due to no fluid in system. P/s rack was leaking. Power steering reservoir was empty. Found power steering rack leaking from both ends. Replaced power steering rack and realigned wheels. On 7/7/08 took car to dealer, steering wheel locked up again while driving. Still have noise when turning the steering wheel back and forth. Dealer kept my car for 3 days without giving a loner to me. When dealer did diagnostic, they pulled up 7 codes and stated "gauge control lost communication, may be old codes related to past repairs. Did not find a cause for steering to lock. Found that the noise when turning the wheel was caused from the seal at the firewall was rubbing on steering shaft. Corrected insulation and found when at idle and turning wheel, hood vibrated and made a noise. They adjusted rubber stoppers and rechecked saying it is all ok. Now, today on 7/17/08 I had steering wheel lock up on me for a brief second. Took my car to a mechanic I know and they told me to fill out this form. They said the noise I hear in my steering column should have been fixed by dealer. I called dealer at 3 pm today and will be taking my car back to dealer tomorrow morning at 9. My car is still randomly having the steering freeze on me when driving, the noise when turning my steering wheel, and I now have a crackling noise in my a/c!.

5 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/12/2008

I heard a loud humming noise coming from the tires on the rear drivers side. The dealer replaced the rear hub and the noise stopped for about 8-10 thousand miles. I later found that they had issued a recall. I brought the car back and this time they had to replaced the upper control arms. Honda issued a service bulletin on this problem and I am reading many complaints on edmund's internet sight complaining about the same issue on the 2006-2007 Civics. The problem with the suspension ruined the tires on the car and caused an unsafe condition. The dealer did change the upper control arms but the car continues to make noise in the rear. The dealer tells me its the tires and the cupping in the tires is the fault of the tire, not the car which it not true. I called Honda and they refuse to replace the tires but admitted that they have a problem with the upper control arms on their cars. Are they waiting for someone to get killed when a tire blows out to notify people of the problem?.

6 Front Suspension Hub problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/21/2005

The contact owns a 2006 Honda Civic. He heard a thump and squealing sound coming from the vehicle. The dealer stated that lubricating the brakes would not guarantee to solve the problem. The dealer also performed a front end alignment at the owners expense for $70. 00. Approximately six months later, the dealer replaced a valve in the rim, two rear tires and another four wheel alignment. 2 weeks later while driving 35 mph, the vehicle pulled to the right and crashed into the curb causing the passenger side tire to fall off. The mechanic installed a new tire, rim, hub cap and performed a life time wheel balance. Another dealer stated that she needed the rotors turned and the wheel hubs replaced; however, the vehicle began to thump, squeak and she heard a grinding noise. The dealer charged the contact $55. 68 to replace the brake pads. On January 4, 2008 an appointment was made to speak with a manager. The manager drove the vehicle and stated that he could not duplicate the noise. The contact received a recall notice for the anti-lock brake system. The failure mileage was 53960 and the current mileage was 63865. Updated 08/13/08 updated 08/13/08.
