2 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/08/2009

Popping noise while turning at 5,268 miles. Replaced two tires at 19,785 miles. Need a front end axle replacement at 31,839. Diagnosed and adjusted torqued rear suspension noise at 60,136. Replaced rear upper control arms 61,275. Replaced shocks, and cv boots at 61,275. Struts were making noise due to cupping. Struts were replaced at 61,275. Two new tires that were recently replaced were replaced again. Both tires were feathered and making noise. Vehicle is maintained in good condition and is following the manufacturer's maintenance recommendation. Car was aligned as required by manufacturer. However, cupping or feathering of the tires still happened. When the rear control arm was not replaced yet, the rear noise was so loud and driving was bad. The tires felt flat and the shock absorber did not seem to be working. It is very hard to deal with both Honda America and kolbe dealer. Both companies tried to play ignorant of the issues although they knew it all along. I spent $1,419. 11 for premature expenses. American Honda blamed the premature damages to me. American Honda nor kolbe Honda did not notify me of the technical bulletins that were issued. Also, just because there is a technical bulletin or corrective action does not mean that the problem will go away. Design of the rear upper control arm must be reviewed again and tested for geometry with other parts of the vehicle. Honda America should tightened its quality control and quality assurance so that its manufacturing facility will not release cars that have defective parts. Honda knew very well that the rear upper control arms have design flawed starting with 2002 Honda Civic. Why are they still using this design? is it because they manufactured so much of the wrong parts?.

3 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2008 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/16/2008

Ever since I bought my 2008 Honda Civic sedan ex-l I have had a vibration, tire cupping and sever noise in the rear end suspension and wheels. Honda claims it is because of improper tire rotation intervals. Tire cupping is not due to improper tire rotation. It is due to lack of proper shock absorbing. I have had my Civic back for this problem every 10,000 miles with no solution from Honda. At 26000 miles I replaced the rear tires because they were badly cupped. Now my new tires are cupped as well. After repeated wheel balancing, alignments and many attempts to have Honda fix it I replaced the rear shocks with heavy duty shock to no avail. The last car I owned that showed signs of rear tire cupping was my 1970 fiat 850 racer. I replaced the rear production shocks with koni adjustable shocks and the cupping ceased. Again Honda refuses to acknowledge that there is a problem. There is definitely a problem and needs a remedy.

5 Rear Suspension Shock Absorber problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/18/2007

I own a 2006 Honda Civic ex coupe and I have some problems with noise coming from the rear of the vehicle. Also at highway speeds I feel some vibrations and exessive sway when turning. At one year old my rear left shock absorber leaked, Honda relaced it but after less than a year it started to fail again. Honda replaced it again out of courtesy (they said). Last year I noticed it has a leak again but I dont want to bring it in for repairs. I also have premature tire wear. I heard about a Honda service bulletin about the rear upperc control arms so I called the dealer but they said that my car wasn't include in the problem although the service bulletin states all 2006 models are affected. I believe the rear upper control arms has somthing to do with my shocks failing and Honda should do a recall on this problem before it cause some accidents. Hope you guys could dig in deeper to this problem as Honda seems to do nothing about it.
