Failure Date: 08/06/2019

Twice while driving the bolts to the torque mount and engine broke. And the cars engine fell on that side. Making very loud sound and the car stoped not being able to drive. Both times it happened on residential street. Had it happened on the freeway. There would have definitely caused a very dangerous life threatening collision. Went to pick a part looking for the bolts. Doing so found other cars there having the same issue.

5 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2016 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/06/2017

I pressed my automatic start key from the window of the building , while I was getting ready ,(washing my face, brushing teeth) after a couple seconds later I heard the sound of the alarm , which would usually turn on if there is a hit or impact or loud sound . When I came downstairs, about 5-10 minutes later . I noticed the front window was shattered , I figured maybe one the neighbors was playing ball and hit my window, when I opened my door I realized there was a fire inside coming directly from the dashboard, everything was melted and my dashboard was also sunk in. I checked if there was an outlet connected or usb ports and did not find an answer. I contacted the dealership and they said they were unable to help and only advice that was given was to contact my insurance , they also added they would not be taking care of any damages in the vehicle and that they were not responsible for this and also did not know why, nor were even interested in investigating. The car was in complete park mode, and off overnight. No one deserves to take their siblings to school and instead be welcomed by a malfunctioning defective 2016 year vehicle.

6 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2005 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 12/04/2015

I was on my way to school , I had driven about 18 miles from home and heard a scrubbing sound then noticed smoke coming from front of my car. I immediately pulled off the road and turned engine off. A city policeman stopped and told me the name of a wrecker service nearby. The car was towed to a garage where it was put up on a lift . The mechanic noted a piece of metal bulging from the right side of the block looking from under the car and toward the front. . There was oil splatters from that area also. The piece of metal came from between the block and the air conditioner. There had to have been a defect in the block for it to break a piece of the block off in this manner. The piece was about 2 inches wide by 4 inches long. We have pictures to show what was found. There were two mechanic witnesses plus a policeman that saw the damage. The car was not running hot nor low in oil. The block just a defect. If I had been on the interstate there could have been a severe accident due to the car coming to a sudden stop.

10 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2013 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 05/10/2014

This letter is to inform you about a severe malfunction that caused an accident. I was traumatized by a sudden unintended acceleration with my 2013 Honda Civic. Luckily no one got hurt in this event, but I’m hoping that this fact will not reduce the attention from this severe malfunction. Following is a brief summary of the event that happened on may 10, 2014 at 6:30pm: I was driving slowly, under 5 miles per hour, approaching a parking near the sideways. There was one car already parked, and I was going to park behind it. I was about to complete my parking, and my leg was gently applying the brakes (I was almost at a complete halt). Suddenly, the car made a very loud noise as if someone pressed on the gas all the way (it was an awful noise), and then it shot itself forward at a crazy speed. As the car drove itself into the parked car in front, I pulled the handbrake and pressed harder on the breaks in the split second that I had to realize something is wrong. Since I was at a very low speed, the impact didn’t deploy the airbags. The parked car in front of me stopped the car from going forward uncontrollably. All of this happened in a matter of seconds. At this point the car’s engine decreased the rpm back to normal, and the car stopped pushing itself forward, though at that point I already deployed the hand break.

The engine mounts are failing on this model of Civic. According to many online discussion forums, a lot of other users are having the same problem. This is causing excessive noise and vibration, especially when the vehicle is cold. My car has under 90,000 miles and I spent over $400 to replace them. I am surprised there has not been a recall issued for this by the manufacturer already and I believe that there should be a recall issued considering the high number of other reports of this failure on these models. . 17 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 09/25/2012

Today, I was driving my wife s 2004 Honda Civic in the highway at about 60 miles per hr when all of the sudden the car started accelerating as if it was in cruise control. . I took my foot off the gas pedal and pressed the brake with little results. The brakes felt so hard as if they were locked. Then I decided to change gears to d2 and together with the emergency brake I was able to slow down the car a bit. After that, I pulled over the brake down lane at about 10 miles per hour but I still could not stop the car. With the help of the emergency brake I was able to stop the car however, the engine was still running as if it was accelerating. This is when I decided to put it on neutral and follow by a loud noise the engine finally stop running. . . . Thank god no one was hurt. . . .

My car is at 110,000 miles and it has been well maintained. I have had all my oil changes done one time and I can prove that. 20 Loud Engine Noise problem of the 2002 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/15/2003

I bought the 2002 Honda Civic new in October. The first week I had it they had to replace the power steering rack as the car was making a horrible noise and was hard to turn. Then, on three different occasions the car simply would not start. It was parked all three times, I would get into the car and it would turn but not start. After sitting idle for about 30 minutes, it would finally start. The dealership could never duplicate the problem, so consequently it was not diagnosed or repaired. Then the car starting having problems with what I thought were the brakes. When I would slow down, the brakes would grab and I could feel a jolt. The brakes also felt spongy. I took the car in, and again, the dealership said they could not duplicate the problem. I finally insisted the dealership keep the car for a few days and drive it. As they were driving it out of their garage, the brakes totally failed. They replaced the master cylinder 2 times. The brakes still grabbed, so hard in fact, that both my husband and I have had drinks in our hands while driving and the drinks spilled on us. The dealership decided the grabbing was an erratic downshift of the transmission. Honda said and I quote: this is a normal problem with the Honda 2002 Civics. The dealership would not fix the car since it was a normal problem. I still don't know what a normal problem is! during this time, I began pursing the oklahoma lemon law. I tried to have the dealership buy my car back and they said they couldn't because it had so many problems and they couldn't sell it as a certified used Honda. So, I have a new car that was a lemon from the day I bought it and the dealership nor Honda will buy it back!!!!!!!! Honda did give me their 100,000 mile warranty for free. Today, I took the car back in to the dealership as the brakes are grabbing harder. Tonda l. Ames, Apr bartlesville public schools community relations supervisor 1100 s.
