I have had a few incidents where I am driving and the brake signal starts flashing/dinging when I am nowhere near another car. In one instance; the car automatically braked in the middle of the highway with no car in front of me. This could have caused a major accident if I did not react quickly. In addition, I could have gotten major whiplash as I was driving over 40 mph. I am also having issues with the auto lock feature on the car. Sometimes when I am driving the car will try to lock the doors even though the doors are already locked. It will continuously lock, the only way this issue has stopped is by turning off my auto lock function. I liked have the auto lock function on because it made me feel safe. There have been no warning lamps, messages or other symptoms prior to these incidences happening. I have not taken my car to the dealer or independent service center due to the cost of high cost the issue. I am open to someone coming to inspect the car as long as it is free of charge.

The contact owns a 2020 Honda Civic. The contact received notifications of NHTSA campaign numbers: 24v064000 (air bags) and 23v458000 (service brakes, hydraulic) however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

Braking system warnings and possibility of brake failure warning. Dealership thought it was sensor issue and replaced sensors but it happened again and I’m also experiencing a phenomenon referred to as “phantom braking” as my car will stop as if an object is directly in front of me while I’m driving, which has happened a few times on the interstate now and I’m afraid to drive. This is a serious safety risk for all involved.

Abs control module leads fell off. The 2012 Honda Civic has a sealed abs/vsa control module. This module has leads connected with rigid solid core cables that are known to disconnect and fall off due to natural heat and vibration. This happened with my vehicle. The vehicle lost acceleration, power steering, dash lights, and power breaking on the highway. When I attempted to restart it all of my lights came charging system, vsa, abs, power steering, and power breaking. For more information see https://electronics. Stackexchange. Com/q/717378/15877.

Car automatically stopped abruptly when a car in oncoming traffic turned a safe distance ahead of me. I was in the process of slowing down and was in no danger of being too close to the car in front of me. Nearly got rear ended.
All dashboard warning light turn on flashing at the same time causing confusing and unsecured driving.

I was stopped at a red light in the left-hand turn lane, waiting to turn left. Light turned green and I accelerated turning left. The car suddenly braked with no car or obstruction in my path. No collision mitigation light warnings came on. The car just slammed on the breaks!! dealer service manager told me over the phone that unless a code comes up, they really can’t diagnose the issue. I believe this is a design flaw and not an issue with my car that can be addressed by the dealer. I have done research online and found many people reporting this issue and several while turning left. I am very concerned with the safety of this car.
The front sensor is too sensitive. If there is another car using a turn lane, the Civic will try to brake and will not pass the car. If another car is ahead on a curve, the automatic braking kicks in. This tends to only happen when using cruise control. It is dangerous on the freeway. The sudden braking could cause me to be rearended. I've been lucky, so far, and have only received dirty looks from the drivers that were behind me as they passed. Since it doesn't happen every single time, there seems no way to reproduce it. No one has inspected it for defects. No warning lights, beeps or messages appear before the braking starts. This has been happening since I first bought the car in 2022, but seems to be more frequent now. Probably the reason it was returned. . . In my opinion.
My car has been grinding ever since I purchased the car. The vehicle only had 17,000 miles when I bought it. I took it to Honda of hollywood and let them know that my car was grinding and they said that I needed to change my brakes. I changed my brakes and went back to the dealership and they said I needed to sand the rotors. I went to get my rotors repaired and my car was still grinding. I went back to the dealership and they said nothing was wrong with the car. I don't hear any other Honda grinding like my car. On the freeway my car is rattling. The tires in the back of my car move around they are not straight. I looked under my car and noticed that the wheel bearing is broken. I don't think the dealership should be putting my life in jeopardy like that when my car was under warranty when I reported the issue. I need help.
While car in sport mode in center lane of a three lane road at 45mph traffic ahead by over 300ft began gently slowing down to +/- 25mph extreme braking was automatically applied w/o driver input, "brake" message was displayed flashing on instrument cluster. Car came to an immediate stop, nearly causing collision with another vehicle behind it.
When I'm driving on the highway, the car sometimes loses its grip, the brakes slip, and it's hard to control the steering wheel. The brakes are a big issue. I'm scared of driving this vehicle. Plus, I have had ac problems ever since I bought the vehicle; the air is warm.
Brakes failed on vehicle almost causing me to collide with vehicle in front of me. Brakes plus in tempe checked brakes and found them to be good. All the lights on the dash flash when attempting to start the vehicle. Vehicle will not start sometimes. The vehicle also leaves the lane when going over potholes and bumps on the road and handles badly.
Purchased November 2023 not even 1 week warning lamps, messages / adaptive cruise control, road departure mitigation, brake systems, failure lights alarming at the same time. Took to dealer cleared sensors. A matter of days alarms going off again. Call dealer they want to keep vehicle for diagnostic. When they did diagnostic it was another problem. They repair guy also mentioned not to apply e-brake. He said their is a possibility that it may completely lock. I will be taking vehicle to another dealership for 2nd opinion.

While driving on a city street at about 25 to 30 mph with no cars or people in front of me and on a clear day, my Civic's collision mitigation braking system flashed "brakes" on my heads up display and at the same time, it forcefully applied the brakes without me touching the brake pedal. This has happened to me at least twice in six weeks. In both instances, I tried to press on the gas pedal, but it did not let up on the brakes right away. I was nearly rear-ended by other cars both times, putting me and others at risk. I took the car to the dealership, and they told me they couldn't find any issues or codes, nor could they replicate the problem.
The contact's parent owns a 2016 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while the parent was parking into a parking space, and straightening the steering wheel; the brake pedal depressed but the vehicle continued to drive. Several warning messages were displayed "vehicle stability assist problem", "power system steering problem", "hill start assist problem", "emissions systems problem", "brake hold system problem", and "brake system problem". The driver noticed that the brake pedal failed to respond and the vehicle rapidly accelerated, causing the vehicle to crash into two medians and crash into a parked and unoccupied Ford edge vehicle at unknown speeds. The stationary vehicle was pushed halfway out of the parking spot. No air bags deployed, and there were no injuries reported. The vehicle was towed to a dealer where it was unknown if the vehicle was diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 48,000.

Car accelerated into the metal garage door and hit the wall inside the garage with me in the car. I had my foot on the brake when it happened.
The problem is unintended braking. It is possible for this malfunction would cause the car to be rear ended. Have not taken it to the dealer. . . Yet. There is no warning, the car suddenly starts to brake while in cruise control mode without any other cars being near.
The contact owns a 2018 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle hesitated to respond while depressing the accelerator pedal. The contact heard an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. Additionally, the contact stated that while decelerating, the brakes were rubbing significantly. An unknown warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the failure could not be duplicated, and the dealer determined that the brakes were functioning properly. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000.
I have noticed for a while now. When the light turns green or I'm at a stop and I have enough time to take off the car does not move when I apply the gas. It stalls and that scares me. I have noticed my cruise control shut off the other day when driving on the freeway. And I could not turn it back on. Now when I try to apply the parking bake when I'm parked the parking brake does not turn on nor the brake hold. The lights keep flashing than turn odd my headlight in the front and back passenger don't work. I've switched out the bulbs and it's an electrical problem. I see recalls on some of these matters but Honda won't do nothing because it's not on their system when I bought this car in 2016.
The automatic emergency braking system has flashed across my dash on multiple occasions while actually braked on a handful of times. The system seems to work correctly when its needed, but the concern is it will brake while nothing has been infront of me. I have come to dead stop while going 15 through a empty parking lot. The vehicle is open for inspection at any time. The safety of myself and others is at risk due to faulty detection and can cause an accident with my child in the car. I have not taken it to be inspected or looked at. There has been no warning lights about faults in anything.
On multiple occasions, at least 10, my automatic braking detector system has engaged when no other cars were in front of me or around me on the road. It has happened while driving in the city at slow speeds, on the highway at 70-80mph, and most recently while going up ramp to merge onto interstate. The automatic brakes will engage causing my car to slightly brake and I then have to accelerate, especially while on the interstate, to keep the car moving or else it could just stop in the middle of the road with a potential to cause a deadly accident. My cruise control no longer works either. I wonder if these issues are synonymous? my safety and the safety of others is definitely at risk with my car randomly braking with no cars in front of me or next to me. The vehicle routinely gets inspected at my Honda dealership every 6-8 months when I get my oil changed and they have not reported any issues. There have been no warnings on the car prior to these incidents happening. This car has no accidents and currently has 30,000 miles. I would estimate the car had about 28,000 miles when the last incident happened while going up the interstate ramp. The braking system malfunction started at the beginning of 2023 from my knowledge.
Driving down the high way at about 55-60 miles an hour went to overtake a vehicle and brake system light, and flashing parking brake late came on all systems such as cruise control, lane mitigation, lane keep assist, brake assist and reduced braking performance messages came up on the dash about the foruth time this happens, had gone to the dealer before for the same issue.

The vehicle will randomly say these warnings: brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Brake hold system problem. Apply brake when stopped. See your dealer. Anti-lock brake system problem. Brake performance may be reduced. See your dealer. Vehicle stability system assist problem. Reduced traction and handling. See your dealer. Electric parking brake system problem. Parking brake not available. See your dealer. I have shut the vehicle down and checked the vsa with no leaks and full fluid in reservoir. I checked the harness and the wires are great. I checked the the brake unit to make sure they were not loose. I also checked the parking button and observed it to be clean from debris. This is happening to multiple people with the new Honda Civics and has now became a safety as it will make the vehicle brake slower and not be available for forward collision. Is anyone else dealing with this and what was the fix. Thanks.
Each time I applied brakes I would hear a scraping sound in sync with a point or span of tire rotation. Then as I was attempting to stop at a red light the brakes failed. The nearest place was or automotive and they rebuilt rear braking system yet I could hear the same scraping sound. So I carried the car to Honda dealership. They adjusted brakes $237. 00 and replaced $341. 00 the two rear drums. The sound remains and is magnified. They are claiming it is because e brake cables stretch. Somehow the stretching can cause entire rear brake on that side to catastrophically fail.

The brakes slam on there own causing all safety features to go out and the car to go out of control. This is the 3rd time this has happened in 3 months. The dealership is telling me they won’t look at it for 3 months I could be killed in that time my car is dangerous.

A lot of times the warning collision on dash will flash to “brake” when going through caution lights usually around fire stations and also approaching steel bridges… I don’t know if it sees the steel deck and thinks it’s a car, but whenever I get in my car, I deactivate the automatic emergency braking system because I don’t want it to automatically brake for me like it’s done in the past.
While driving at about 40 mph the car suddenly started to pull toward the left. I pressed on the brake pedal as I steered to the right to try to bring the car back to my lane but I noticed the brake pedal was already very hard. In a second the car skidded out of control toward the right side of the road and it slammed its left side against some big rocks. The driver's door window broke and the side airbags deployed. The big rocks kept us from going into the water of a lake that the road runs next to. The passengers in the car were myself and my wife and were not injured but it was a very terrifying incident and the consequences could have been a lot worse. The vehicle has been released to progressive, the insurance company.
All light appeared on the dashboard and we took the vehicle in for inspection. We learned that the vsa modulator had failed and was a safety risk as it controlled the brakes. This needs to be recalled as the soldering was not done correctly when originally manufactured and this particular part has failed on a high percentage of the Hondas that come equipped with the modulator. Please look into recalling this as many drivers have experienced their brakes locking up while driving due to this modulator failing.

Honda knew of an issue with their electronic parking brake system which required a software update per service bulletin 17-007 since January 17, 2017. Honda claims that the issue was not associated with my 2016 Civic coupe exl VIN however on oct 29, 2023 my Civic threw this error which then cost me $112 for the service center to diagnose and an additional $150 for the software update to be installed. Total cost of $262 for an item that Honda knew was an issue and never addressed on my vehicle. This issue creates a dangerous and possibly life threatening situation which Honda is fully aware and should be held liable. American Honda states that my vehicle was not effected however I disagree as the photos and failure occurred. I was expecting more fro Honda.
Brake mitigation system will automatically slam on brakes and show brake light with no objects in the way.

The contact owns a 2023 Honda Civic. The contact stated that while driving approximately 75 mph the cruise control suddenly would not deactivate causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle and crash into a ditch. The contact indicated that prior to the crash the cruise control did not deactivate when pressing the brake pedal and did not shut off while manually pressing the cruise control deactivation switch. Also, during the crash no airbags deployed and no injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away. The cause of the failures were not determined. The local dealer was notified of the failures. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 6,300.
