37 Structure problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/01/2008

My paint cracked on my hood, roof and fenders. I did have bird poop eat through the paint on the passenger door. I knew Honda wouldn't cover the bird poop but I wanted to ask about the cracks. Honda service said that my warranty did not cover the cracks from who knows what so I had to file an insurance claim. I had to have all those places on my car painted. I have since researched and found many other people complaining about the paint and having the same issues as me. I believe Honda's paint is defective and should be investigated. I have never had a car's paint be so soft and of poor quality. I paid a lot of money for my car and believe if the paint doesn't hold up then rust will ensue and that is a safety issue. I want this problem addressed. The guy at the body shop said that he had to repaint 4 Honda vans that have the blue paint because the paint was defective. I believe the silver paint is defective and would like someone to investigate this issue. People are buying these cars and believe they are going to last a long time and they are not. My 1992 Honda accord's paint held up so why isn't my 2007 Civic doing the same? thanks for your time.

38 Structure problem of the 2007 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 06/01/2008

Driver side visor mechanical fault. Visor will not stay in the up position due to a broken mechanism. Causing an obstructive view.

39 Structure problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/26/2008

I have a 2006 Honda Civic. I have had to replace the rear tires on it 4 times since April of 2007. I contacted Honda today, December 2, 2008 after finding a bulletin that they posted about the problem, but because my vehicle is now out of warranty they refuse to reimburse me or pay to get this fixed. It states in the bulletin that the rear upper control arm is too short and that it causes uneven and rapid rear tire wear, as well as vibration at highway speeds. This is a hazard for me driving the vehicle as it is, but I do not have the money to keep replacing tires, nor do I have the money to get it fixed on my own. If they had sent me some type of notice or something I would have gotten this fixed while my vehicle was still under warranty. Things like this should be fixed by the manufacturer, or dealership for no charge because they are a hazard to us as drivers, and expensive to fix.

42 Structure problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/16/2008

Both drivers side and passenger side sun visors broke before 30k miles, and dealership replaced. Visors have again broken, but car is no longer under warranty and the dealership will not replace. Many owners of same make/model car have complained about this same defect. I think a recall is appropriate.

43 Structure problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/14/2007

The driver's side visor broke off completely. The internal mechanism used to raise and lower the visor does not move easily -- now, not at all --causing the plastic visor to fall apart. Dealer has agreed to replace it, but it is on back order because of the number of complaints and problems with this component.

44 Structure problem of the 2004 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/19/2007

I took my vehicle into a Honda dealership to get my left fender repaired. When the fender was removed, mechanics noticed that the bumper reinforcement was not on the vehicle. The vehicle is a certified used vehicle and was to be in no accidents. I had to pay for the parts out of my pocket to have the car up to Honda standards.

48 Structure problem of the 2001 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 04/05/2006

Possible suspension defect. Incident date of 04/05/2006 is date informed by dealer of problems. Noticed car squeaked/creaked a lot when turning. Brought car to dealer for 75k checkup and asked him to examine suspension. Dealer informed me that both of my front struts leaked and needed to be replaced, that one motor mount was cracked, and that both of the lower control arms needed to be replaced. Car was maintained in accordance with owner's manual and serviced almost entirely by same dealer for 5 1/2 years. No accident occurred, but all of these problems within such a short period of time (3-6 months between prior major and minor checkups and the checkup that discovered these problems and 5 1/2 years for the car age) are cause for concern, especially since they could have worked together to cause a drastic loss of control of the car. Based on my prior ownership experience with a 1992 Honda Civic and research on the internet, it is difficult to believe that all of these problems should have occurred. Thus, I believe that certain components of my 2001 Honda Civic's suspension may be defective. The assumed defect may be due to a design flaw, since 2001 was when Honda stopped using double-wishbone suspension in their u. S. Civics in lieu of old suspension type.

49 Structure problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 03/15/2006

Rear windshield lifts off at right rear pillar when the air of closing the driver or passenger door pushes it out of the frame. Two days later at the service appointment, the rear windshield had lifted off the entire roof line, with a height of 2 inches at the right rear pillar. Honda service dept. Said they'd never seen anything like it; the caulking had not been sufficient to keep the windshield in place. They reglued it. An acquaintance in NJ saw the same thing happen to the 2006 Honda coupe in front of him. He changed lanes fast.

50 Structure problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 02/28/2006

The front and rear windows squeak over mild to severe bumps. The noise was brought to my dealers attention, they thought it was due to the rear deck and tightened and foamed the rear deck to solve the problem. This has not solved the noise problem, so on the next visit, I stressed that it may be coming from the windows. They say they might have found the problem, where the windows needed to be oiled, ie. Blade area?.

51 Structure problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 01/15/2006

: the contact stated the front driver's side tire rubs against the fender on hard turns in either direction which makes the vehicle very difficult to control. During these incidents, there are no vibrations however the vehicle does tilt to the left. A service dealer changed the suspension, but that did not correct the problem.

52 Structure problem of the 2006 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 11/10/2005

Creaking and rattling from interior of car in several areas--most notable the rear. General feeling of parts falling apart or coming loose while driving. The loudest and most troublesome noise sounds like it is coming from where the rear interior shelf and rear window meet. The noise is loudest when the car is cold and happens mostly while driving over rough patches of highway, crossing road reflectors, or when the stereo is on. There is also a "creaking" noise coming from all areas of the front dash and console around the front windshield during all driving conditions. The creaking and rattling has been a problem since the first week I bought the car. I have owned several cars and these noises are not the typical interior noises you hear in a car. I have taken my car to the dealer 6 times for this problem. While the tech's agree there is definitely a problem, they don't know how to fix it. So far, the rear deck has been insulated with foam tape and the center console has been replaced. The noise is still there. On March 10, the Honda area rep also looked at my car and agreed there is a problem but was not aware of any fix for the problem. I also called Honda cust service to report the problem and while the customer service rep admitted he has heard of this complaint, he also was not aware of any fix for this problem.

55 Structure problem of the 2000 Honda Civic

Failure Date: 07/21/2003

I dropped my car of 7/21/03 for engine repair and body work. The body shop said it would take 10 days. 7/28/03 my car was broken into while in their shop and I was not alarmed until 21/2 weeks after the "break in" incident by the detective on the case. In between the time before I knew about the break in, I've spoken to the owner inquiring about the time frame my car would be finished, the owner never mentioned of the incident. When I did find out of the incident and confronted store owner he stated that he thought I knew. I expressed my anger and mentioned the fact that my car was broken into and if he had advised me of the situation, I would have taking that in consideration of the time frame of prolonged service and understood more of the delay. The owner said the fact that my car being broken into had no reason of the delay. I had numerous unpleasant conversations with him, from where he's called me a "!@#$%," that I don't give him enough business to "harass him" about information on my car as much as I do. I've already gave him $1,500. 00. When I finally had the time and transportation to go see my car, there were some parts of my car that was taking that needed to be repaired, for example my front bumper was totally ripped and needed to be replaced- that was stolen, my passenger rear view mirror was taking, that also needed to be replaced. My strut bar was taking but the person or persons who took it had the time to put the screws back on, whoever broke in my car also took my back spoiler, gauge cluster, speedometer, headrest, both of my door panels and door speakers, my console, and some other stuff. My car is three times worse then when I dropped it off. The owner stated that he does not have to replace these items if he doesn't want to. I still pay car notes my car, it I've mentioned this to the owner how important it is for me to have work done and right ASAP many times but he seems to not understand or care. My car has not been worked on.
