36 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/05/2017

Low beam headlights ever since we purchased the car, we've had to replace the low beam bulbs every few weeks. They burn out at completely random times (its happened both while in motion and stationary, in residential areas as well as out driving through countryside, freeways; basically everywhere). Not only is this an inconvenience due to the amount of money spent on replacements, it's also extremely dangerous. They've burned out on night drives in the countryside where our only option was to use high beams the rest of the way, etc. Unacceptable that Honda has not yet acknowledged the issue, even though it's very well documented online as being an issue. There was a recall for this issue up through 2004 Cr-v's but they've not extended to the 05 model year.

37 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/17/2017

I am constantly having to change the low beam headlamps on both driver and passenger side. There have been numerous times when the headlights go out and stop working while operating on the highway. I have tried different bulbs, and have determined it is not any particular type or quality. The new bulb will typically last 1-3 months. This has been costly, as well as dangerous for my wife to drive at night. I also prefer to drive with the headlights on during the day for safety, which is not always the case when they are going out every 1-3 months. I have researched this, and had found it to be a very comon problem. I found a possible recall for this problem on the 2002-2004 models, but mine is a 2005 model is having the same problem others are reporting. For the safety of myself, and others on the roadway, as well as the numerous other vehicle owners having the same problem, I would request this problem be considered as a safety recall. I also have documentation including dates and mileage for each bulb change which is available upon request.

38 Headlights problem of the 2016 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 05/04/2017

The headlights turn on randomly and off while driving in full sunlight. The lights have come on without input while the car is parked and the ignition is off. American Honda has authorized and replaced both the wiring harness and the fuse box in an attempt to fix this issue. They have refused to do further work on this vehicle and the problem still exists. Once the battery was completely dead in the morning when I tried to use it. It was driven the night before. The lights have turned themselves on with no input from the key fob or the driver when the car is parked. Multiple people have witnessed the car doing this. I have many mp4 files documenting the headlights coming on and going off at random while driving. Under the description of "when did this happen" I put the reported date to the dealership. It happens most every time that I drive the car for any extended period over a few miles.

39 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/28/2017

Purchased new in March, 2005, we quickly learned that the low beam headlights on our 2005 Honda crv burn out frequently, usually on both sides and within a few days of each other. When replaced, they will last only a year or so before burning out again. We notice they're burned out when we're driving. We use the headlights both during the day (for safety) and of course at night. We've tried several different types of replacement lamps, but none seem to change the pattern of lamp life. Most recently, I've replaced the low beam headlamps four times (2 each side) within the past 6 months. Last night when tested after replacement, the passenger side lamp only glowed (due to a bad ground connection?) and mysteriously, the bright beam lamp on the same side had also quit working. I have driven approximately one million miles in other vehicles over the past 27 years and have never experienced similar problems with such frequency. Because of the frequency and serious safety concerns due to the unexpected recurrences, I have no choice now but to ask the local Honda dealership to look into the problem. Research shows that this is a serious enough problem with other model years of the same vehicle that it has generated safety recalls. Please widen your investigation and results to include subsequent model years of the Honda crv's, specifically 2005.

40 Headlights problem of the 2006 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/17/2017

Over the last 12-16 months, the low-beam bulb for the headlights have failed approximately every 1-2 months. When attempting to research this issue on the internet, it appears that this is a common problem across multiple years of this make and model vehicle. In fact, it appears that they had issued recalls on an earlier model year of this vehicle but have resisted recalling additional model years. I have not yet determined the cause of this problem on my vehicle. The passenger low-beam bulb seems to have been effected more than the driver side. I have been trying to track the timing of the bulb failures, and I believe that it may be related to long distance trips of over 100 miles. I have an appointment to have an automotive electrical company look at it and try to trace the fault.

41 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/13/2017

I have replaced the low beam headlight bulbs in my 2005 Honda crv 4 times in the last year. I was cautious with the lights during instillation making sure to do everything right. Finally, decided to bring up the issue as my wife was driving the car in the road last night when the passenger side went out. It decreased her visibility on a country highway causing her to have to slow down a little to make sure she could see. It made the conditions unsafe and it also brings up the possibility of receiving a traffic ticket due to the light being out. Luckily, she made it home with no issues. However, the next day, she turned on the car and the driver and passenger side headlights were out. The lights have been continually going out no matter the driving situation. Based on my internet searching, others seem to have the same problem and I noticed Honda has a recall for 2002-2004 headlight issues but I believe the recall needs to be offered to the later models as well. I believe it to be an issue with the electrical wiring and not the headlights that I keep having to constantly buy. Please help with addressing the issue to Honda.

42 Headlights problem of the 2006 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 02/09/2017

I have a 2006 Honda crv se that the low beam headlights keep going out on. I took it to the dealer to be fixed, and they said it was a exposed wire going to the fuse box. I continue to have the problem though. My drivers side went out a month ago again, and then came back on for a week. Then the drivers side lights went out again. I went to leave work last nigh, and now both low beams are not working. I have contacted the recall department, and they tell me I have no open recalls on my car. I paid $400 less than 8 months ago to fix this, and now I have a worse problem. The dealer says I'm past my warranty on the repair, so I will have to pay to have them look at it to see what the issue is. I am also having an issue with all lights inside and out strobing and pulsing. I have read many people having this. This is a huge safety concern, and my next step is to call the NHTSA to report the problem. I am urging anyone having issues to call the Honda recall line to report the problem. They will not do a recall to fix the problem until they have enough complaints. This was my first Honda as I am a Toyota girl, but I decided to give them a shot. I don't think I will be looking at Honda's next year when I go to do my trade in. I have had more problems with just the headlights, and other lights in my car that and had not issues at all with my last Toyota. This is a safety concern and needs to be corrected.

43 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/15/2017

The low beam headlights on my 2005 vehicle repeatedly blow out bulbs leaving me with only one and potentially no low beam headlights. On both sides of the vehicle the life expectancy of the bulbs is no more than 4 months. They are unreliable and may cease working while on the road reducing my visibility in all types of weather conditions and at night. This problem seems to be the same as the one for the recall of 2002-2004 Cr-vs and has been reported by numerous owners. I contacted Honda's customer service and was told that the VIN of my vehicle was not covered and unless the VIN was part of the recall, they would not honor correcting the problem. (case # 06225907) request investigation to have 2005 Cr-vs added to the recall.

44 Headlights problem of the 2006 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/07/2017

We stopped at a gas station on a long trip and when we got back in car headlights went out and even with new bulbs are very dim. Have to drive with high beams to see to drive. Very unsafe.

45 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/22/2016

Headlights go out intermittently. I thought they were going out and kept replacing bulbs, but now realize they will come back on. I see many many posts from others with this same model/year complaining about this! there was a recall on the 2004, needs to be extended to 2005!.

46 Headlights problem of the 2006 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/18/2016

Low beam headlight stops working. Needs replacing on a regular basis. Every month or two.

47 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/09/2016

About every month we have had to replace the front low beam headlights on either the drivers side or passenger side. We have replace the entire headlight assm and use surgical gloves to put in the bulbs. They blow on the road and nobody can explain why and it is dangerous. It started awhile ago.

48 Headlights problem of the 2014 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/26/2016

No matter how I shift the headlights of my Cr-v, they are either too high or too low in visibility. I don't know if it is possible to find a happy medium where the low beams are just low enough to the road and create a nice field of vision, along with the high beams being low enough to see far and not up in the trees. Why does this car not have two different bulbs for low and high beams? the lighting is unreliable and I feel very unsafe at night when I am driving, espeically along roads that are not well-lit.

49 Headlights problem of the 2006 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/02/2016

I am a one time owner of this vehicle low beam headlights constantly burning out both sides, does not matter which brand is used. The lights burn out anytime 1-3 months of use after change out. This is extremely hazardous! and very expensive! living in alaska we depend on our headlights more than normal to avoid sever accidents in low light conditions, ie vehicles, ice /snow/rain, humans, moose, caribou etc. Honda should have recalled and repaired this condition many years ago! this is an extreme safety condition! this has been happening for the last 9 years 2007 to 2016, I average 8-10 bulbs a year @ $6-$15 a bulb and changing them out in sub-0 temps is no fun! the vehicle has no set pattern as to when this happens parked or driving and high beam use is a must at times with out getting pulled over. The vehicle started at 96,000 miles and now has 130,000 miles.

50 Headlights problem of the 2013 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 06/20/2016

The headlights on this vehicle do not provide adequate illumination. We are reviewing/considering aftermarket lighting to correct this situation. The low beams only project about 10 feet in front of the vehicle (even with the driving lights on) and the high beams are very dim and offer very little light immediately in front of the vehicle. When turning, there is not enough light to safely see the side road if there are no street lights. In rural areas, the dim lights make it impossible to see wildlife such as deer soon enough to safely avoid them. My crv has been returned to the dealer twice and they were able to make some adjustments to try to fix the problem. The dealer has told me that customers have complained about poor lighting for many years and nothing has been done. I have purchased high output bulbs and the improvement has been minimal. I have called Honda and asked how I could obtain the better headlights that are available in europe and been told that I cannot. I have asked if driving lights could be left on with the high beams and told no. The dealer offered to install post-market non-Honda headlights for me but Honda told me that I would void my warranty. Honda customer service told me that she was not aware of any headlight complaints however many complaints are readily available on the internet. She took down my information and entered it into a computer and I have heard nothing back - that was a month ago. Something needs done about these headlights - someone is going to be seriously injured and obviously Honda does not care. This should be a simple fix as I know they have better headlights for this vehicle in the european market.

Failure Date: 05/01/2016

The halogen bulbs in my headlights frequently burn out. They always have, but I didn't know so many other owners were dealing with the same issue. This is dangerous. I just learned that Honda issued a recall for this very same problem for years 2002-2004. There are numerous complaints for this same issue on record for 2005. Honda needs to include the 2005 model for this recall and correct this defect. Why aren't they responding to this issue?.

58 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 01/13/2016

The headlights keep burning out every 3-6 months, this can't be normal. I keep reading complaints online from others experiencing the exact same thing but Honda is not taking responsibility. Besides being costly, time-consuming and annoying, it is a safety hazard and it is illegal, you can get a ticket for driving with a burnt light. In addition the light on my dashboard has gone out, and the 2 rear doors electrical locks do not work.

60 Headlights problem of the 2006 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/11/2015

Headlight bulbs continue to blow. Then can blow after a couple of months or a year after installation. But they blow often enough that when they go, I immediately go to the store to buy replacements. Just this evening, I had a the right side go when I replace the left side just yesterday. I fear that both may go at the same time when my wife or I are behind the wheel with our infant in the backseat. The bulbs have blown while going down the road, as well as when parked. Since we acquired this vehicle in 2009, I have replaced over a dozen bulbs. I have only recently started saving receipts to better track this issue.

61 Headlights problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/03/2015

We have replaced the low beam headlights in this car at least 9 times since purchasing it in 2010. Twice in the past year and the bulbs just burnt out again while my wife was driving home from work today in the dark. We have purchases oem, aftermarket, long life etc with the same result. The car was moving this time when the lights burned out. This vehicle is mostly driven on the highway about 100 miles a day, which is where my wife was today, at aproximately 70 mph. The 2002-2004 Cr-v had a recall and this issue is all over the internet but there is zero resolution. Every dealership I call say they have not seen this, which is hard to believe considering the information out on the web. This is a serious issue.

65 Headlights problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 08/05/2015

While driving across country from arkansas to washington with my 22 year old son in his vehicle his headlights went out on very dark, curvy roads while he was driving. We were out in an area with no resources. We were able to use his high beams fortunately until we could get to a safe location. Since then the light bulbs fail frequently approximately 2-3 months for no apparent reason. Usually one light at a time, constantly replacing bulbs. This a very well documented problem. And [obviously] a poor design issue. There is currently an outstanding recall for this problem for model years 2002-2004 (NHTSA campaign number: 12v136000). From my research, this problem seems to be at least as prevalent (if not more so) in the 2005 and 2006 model years. Please expand the recall to include those model years and force Honda to own up to what appears to be a poor design issue. This is a [major] safety issue and an ongoing problem.

The passenger-side headlight on my 2006 Cr-v went out 06/10/15, so I had it replaced @Honda dealer next day. The tech said high-beam was also out! I questioned the likelihood of such an occurrence, but was not given any response that indicated a "known issue" with the headlights/wiring.
