Rear Suspension Springs Problems of Honda CR-V

I took the vehicle in to have oil change, tire rotation and alignment. The dealership stated that the rear camber is at its upper limits so we would have to replace both rear springs, upper links, permanently remove the hitch and replace all 4 tires. Total cost would be $2165. Their reasoning was the weight of the hitch caused the springs to weaken. The vehicle was purchased new with 32 miles and now has 84,000. All service has been preformed at the dealership where it was purchased at factory recommended intervals. The hitch was installed the same month the vehicle was purchased and has never been used to haul anything other than a hitch hauler with a 40 quart cooler full of ice and drinks. I find it hard to believe this caused the springs to fail.

I purchased my Cr-v as a certified used car with 7000 miles. The tire noise kept getting louder as the miles grew. By 18,000 miles I couldn't take it and went to the dealer. They said my tires were cupped and needed replaced. I put new tires on and had it aligned by the dealer. They could not get it in spec and replaced the rear springs. They aligned it, but I still had tire noise. Dealer said I bought cheap ($125/pc) tires . These tires are also now cupped so bad at 50,000 miles that I need to replace them, a 70k tire with only 30k on them. I also smell hot rubber on the rear passenger tire much like others have said, and only this tire. Coincidently this one is the cupped noise maker.
