As I depressed the start button to engage my car’s engine, the right rear passenger window spontaneously shattered. The car was parked at the time and there was no motion or contact to the window when the window shattered into multiple fragments. There was no evidence of damage to the window prior to this occurrence.

Upon leaving work, wife heard a wind noise coming from the sunroof, as if it was open. Upon sliding back the cover (slightly), she noticed the glass was shattered (with a big hole), and bulging outward or toward the interior. She was not around any other vehicles so it is unlikely the cause was a bouncing rock or pebble. Upon calling the dealership where the car was purchased, they referred us to a local auto glass shop. Upon calling Honda of America, they referred us to our insurance company. By the way, the car is still under full warranty. What can we do? it should be under warranty, shouldn't it?.

5-27-12, my husband was driving our Cr-v 2008 within the city limits of jax. Bch, FL. He slowed from 15 to 2 mph, turning a corner, and the rear hatch window exploded. A large basket-ball shaped circle hole appeared in the rear window. The glass from the hole exploded outside the vehicle. Immediately 3/4 of the remaining window glass dropped from inside the rear window frame onto the vehicle floor. He checked for outside car glass debris, then drove the car to our condo less than a mile away. We covered the hole with a garbage bag and duct tape for the drive to our covered garage at home in orange park, FL. Since it was memorial day wk-end, we knew that no repairs could be made until the holiday was over. Also, a tropical storm was headed towards jax. Today, I called steve lucas Honda in orange park, FL where previous oil changes were made, and have been waiting three hours for a return call from their service manager this occurrence, also for their recommendation for a window replacement CO. This is most alarming, for this very same thing happened to me while I was driving when the car was less than 2 months old, in a heavy rainstorm on the interstate headed to amelia island, FL. I pulled over to the side of the road, and my friend met me, bringing a garbage bag and duct tape, and we taped it for my return to jax. Fl. We'd purchased the vehicle at atlantic Honda, jax, FL. I called and reported it to them. The service MA. Said he'd never heard of this happening, and recommended a glass replacement company for repairs. Since this 2nd occurrence, we are very alarmed and do not now feel safe in our vehicle. The window replacement the 1st time was right at $500. After reading on line of similar incidences occurring, we feel that there is definitely a safely issue defect. Honda needs to look into this matter quickly.

The contact owns a 2001 Honda crv. While the contact was driving approximately 50 mph, suddenly the window glass in the front passenger side door shattered into small pieces. The failure occurred without any impact to the vehicle. The contact was able to pull over to the side of the roadway to inspect the vehicle, and then resumed normally. The vehicle had been repaired. The failure mileage was 151,000.

I purchased a 2010 Honda cr v in November of 2009. In January the vehicle had around 2300 miles. My wife and I took a vacation and left the vehicle parked in her parents private driveway. Four days into our vacation, my father-in-law noticed that our drivers side window was "foggy looking". He got closer to the vehicle and noticed that the tempered glass window was spider-ed and pushed out toward the exterior of the vehicle. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they replaced the window. The dealer would not honor our warranty, but still replaced the window. I believe this was a manufacturing defect. I also believe this could be serious if it happens when someone is driving down the road and this defect occurs.

The rear hatch back window malfunctioned while the vehicle was parked in the driveway. The consumer was very concerned because normally the kids sit back there.
