1 Tank Assembly problem of the 2002 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/01/2011

My fuel gauge is not accurate: if the tank drops to half full, the gauge is unreliable and often registers more or less gas than there is. Usually there is less gas than the gauge registers, but I've filled up the tank until the tank clicked, and the gauge still read 3/4 full. I've been browsing on some online forums, and this seems to be a common problem with the 2002 crv. . Read more...

2 Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 12/10/2006

About 2 weeks ago my Honda Cr-v 2004 stalled in a car wash and wouldn't start. After about 20 minutes I was able to get it started. Since then my Cr-v has had trouble starting. I've also noticed my heater not working as effectively and just recently the car started to over heat. I took it to the mechanic immediately. After a day they said I had gotten water in my gas tank and a water bubble in my coolant system. They flushed everything out, dried it and replaced my coolant. So far my car seems to be running smoothly again.

3 Tank Assembly problem of the 2003 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 11/13/2006

: the contact stated while getting into the vehicle after been parked for a prolonged period of time, a strong gasoline smell was noticed. Upon visual inspection, a hole was noticed near the back seat, which was located above the gas tank area. The vehicle was taken to the dealership who tested the vehicle to find the failure code reading "auxiliary emission control evaporation, gas leak". The dealership determined the gas tank needed to be replaced. The contact inquired about the physical leak to be shown which never happened. The contact showed the dealership the possibility of the leak coming from the outlet hose from the tank to the fuel pump, which could easily be removed with the finger tips. The manufacturer was contacted, who determined it was an isolate failure, and was not covered by any recall. The contact expressed concern because the failure should be considered as manufacturer defect.

Then, he pulled to the side of the road, and cut the vehicle off. By this time it was just a lot of smoke, but no fire. Honda dealer repaired the vehicle. 7 Tank Assembly problem of the 1998 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 04/15/1999

While parked the vehicle was pushed from behind by a car getting out of a parking space. The push was enough to send the tail pipe forwrd into the fuel tank causing a 1. 5 inch deep dent in the fuel tank and totally trashing the exhaust system. Had this been a rear ender on a freeway it seems that this pipe can easily puncture the fuel tank causing a firey death at very least. I believe this problem to be as serious as the Ford pinto fuel tank problem of years past!.
