4 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2009 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 07/17/2009

New 2009 Honda Cr-v, with less than 500 miles I started getting bad vibrations and car veering to the right and then to the left. Honda of ocala tried to balance and align the vehicle multiple times which did not correct the vibration. Felt like tires had a bald spot. After 3 tries, they decided to examine the tires (bridgestone / dueller ht's) and found that 2 of the tires had belts that separated. This could have caused serious injuries if I had not persisted. They replaced the tires and a rim with same tires only new ones. A week and a half later, car continues to have vibrations and they again think it is the tires. Car now has 2500 miles and is in the shop again today. Complaint has been filed with Honda who just says the tires are not their responsibility. There are hundreds if not thousands of similar complaints, some with crashes and serious injuries because of these tires. Some have reported that the sidewalls explode. I do not feel safe in my new vehicle and I think Honda needs to stop putting these tires on their vehicles and replace the ones out there with different one. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

5 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/15/2008

I was getting an oil change and the attendant doing the change pointed out a problem with all four of my tires. The sidewalls had multiple cracks in them. Some are an inch long and look deep. The manager of the facility said they were caused by the sun. I contacted michelin and they seemed to agree. I don't believe it. All four tires had the same problem. I don't have my receipt any longer. The tires were purchased in fall of 2008. I think the cracks are dangerous and could result in a blowout. I read about 5 blowouts that occurred with these same style tires where the driver did not know what caused the blowout. Maybe the tires had cracks. Michelin does not make harmony tires anymore. At least, I couldn't find any for sale. Tread depth is about 7/32". I have photos that show the cracks well. I you want to see them, let me know.

6 Tire Sidewall problem of the 2005 Honda CR-V

Failure Date: 10/07/2007

Driving on freeway and pulled off to eat. When I pulled into tie restaurant the car handled funny so I checked the tires when I got out but they seemed ok. I came out from eating and the rear passenger tire was totally flat. On inspection the sidewall was blown out about 2-3 inches in a jagged pattern. Later looking at the tire at home there appeared to be another crack in the tire. I called bridgestone to replace the tire after my bridgestone dealer stated there was a problem with the tire and it was discontinued. They stated there was no problem with the tire. Also they stated that this tire was not the tire that came with the Honda Cr-v originally. They were not even able to find the tire in their system. I find this curious.

We had a 2006 Honda crv. In a 2 week period we experienced 2 rear wheel blow outs. The first occurred on a city road after driving on the toll way. It was a sidewall blowout. The second occurred about 2 weeks later while driving on the toll way. My wife was driving when she experienced a left rear tire blow out. It caused the vehicle to spin out of control, hit a semi, and roll over several times. My wife suffered serious injuries and is still unable to be out of bed for more than a short time. The car was a total loss. As of this time, no results are in as to the cause of the sidewall blowouts.
