This is the second visit to the dealership involving a faulty sensor with the air pressure monitor. Warning light comes on indicates that the vehicle has low tire pressure. Running the risk of over inflating the tires. First time the vehicle was checked and told there was no issue and the tire pressure monitor was reset. Second visit and again the same issue. Told this was reoccurring problems with the Honda system and if it occurs again, just return and the technicians will check it and reset it again. The pattern of the problem occurring with highway travel for about an hour.
The tire pressure monitoring system in this car is a "passive" system. That means there are no sensors or transmitters in the tires but rather, they use the abs sensors to measure relative wheel speed and since a low tire will have a smaller diameter, it will rotate faster and Honda believes they can measure relative tire pressure with this system. I believe this idea is fundamentally flawed. : my first example: I had a tire go flat while driving on a freeway. It wasn't a blow-out, just a tire that went flat while driving. The "tpms" system never warned of the low tire and the tire was actually ruined and needed to be replaced. . That led to my second reason. . . The tire store replaced the tire with an identical size but different manufacturer's tire. That resulted in multiple periodic warnings of "tire pressure monitor system problem". Taking the car to the dealer resulted in them telling me that any replacement tire had to be exactly the same as originally came on the car and I might need to replace two, and possibly all four tires. . This seems completely unreasonable on a car with less than 10,000 miles on the tires! it is my belief that the tpms should monitor tire pressure. . . Not make, model and tread pattern as the dealer told me. Lastly, I got in the car for a drive a few day ago and after driving down my driveway, heard a noise and stopped to investigate. . . . Another flat tire and no warning whatsoever. A system operating as poorly as this one is less than useless because if I had no system, I wouldn't expect to be notified of a low tire and wouldn't depend on the system. What about a tire going flat over night? no warning before driving! I would submit the failure of the system to notify the driver of a low tire in two, very obvious scenarios is a significant safety risk and should definitely be addressed by the manufacturer.

We have a 2014 cr v with 15,000 mile on it. We bought it new. In 12-months the tire pressure monitoring system has gone off 3-times. I have taken it to the dealer and they say there is nothing they can do about it, except reset it. How can we trust this as a safety factor?.

2014 Honda Cr-v awd. Customer states the tire pressure warning system light has come on three different occasions.
Tpms light illuminates approximately every 700 miles. Tire pressure was checked and found to be normal each time. Car has 3400 miles now and light has illuminated 4 times and each time tire pressure was found to be normal. The last two occurrences were on wet road surfaces with puddling (may be a factor?).
2013 Honda Cr-v. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle tpms system issues. Approximately, 4 1/2 months after the vehicle was purchased, the consumer began having problems with the tpms. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer 4 times. On January 18, 2014 the dealer replaced the rear tpms sensors, but that evening the tpms light illuminated again and has been intermittently coming on since that time. Also, there was a grinding noise, that occurred immediately after start-up. The dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.

The tire pressure monitoring sensor is constantly appearing on the dashboard. The car has less then 1,000 miles and the dashboard tpms has come on over a dozen times. I have had the car tires checked five times and the pressure is fine. There is something wrong with the tpms system. I have called Honda customer services and have been told by a case manager that there is something wrong and the engineers are working on a software fix. No time for this fix has been advertised. It is very disconcerting to be driving with this light on and not knowing whether it's a true tire pressure issue. I hope that this is resolved quickly.
I bought my new 2014 Honda crv direct from dealer. After three days I brought back the crv because the tire pressure light went on. I brought it back to dealer and said it was because of the cold weather. . They reset the guide. Ok for the next two days, then it went back on again. I brought it back and was told that Honda was aware of the problem and that they were working on a fix. . . That was back in December!!! this is a brand new 2014!!! I asked the service man to write that down for me, so I have it on record. As of today, January 30th, my light remains on. I would like to add, that I had a flat tire and was stuck on the road at night. . . Because I didn't pay attention to the tire light on my dashboard!!!!!!! I want this fixed! I thought I was buying a safe reliable car . . Honda has a good reputation, . . . Someone dropped the ball, and the american consumer is paying the price!!! pls. . . Pls fix this problem. May not seem like a terrible thing, but I didn't pay $30,000 for a slight mistake.
The tire pressure monitoring system (tpms) warning light came on while driving on freeway. Took car to dealer who checked tires and did not find a problem. Dealer reset/recalibrated tpms by pressing button. Drove car for another 300 miles and tpms warning light came on again. Personally checked pressure in all tires with a manual tire pressure gauge. All four tire pressures were within spec at 33 psi. I reset/recalibrated the tpms by pressing button. Read on the internet that other 2014 Honda Cr-v owners are having the same problem. Honda does not have a fix for this problem. The tpms warning can not be relied on because it gives false indications. I understand that the tpms on the 2014 Honda Cr-v is an indirect system. There are no actual pressure sensors. It uses the wheel speed/rotation sensors to determine when there is a tire pressure problem. The computer indicates a problem based on different speeds/rotation of the wheels. I don't know if the sensors are the problem or if it is the computer software.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the tire sensor warning indicator illuminated. The contacted checked the tire pressure for all four tires, of which were found to be at the recommended pressure reading. The contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer for diagnosis of the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 350. Updated 12-13-13 updated 12/18/cn the consumer stated he resolved the issue himself. Updated 12/18/13.
Tire pressure monitoring system is inoperative as warning light stays lit constantly. Warning light came on immediately upon drive home from dealer with brand new car. No adjustments or re-setting will prevent light from going on. Returned to dealer twice (dch Honda old bridge NJ) to no avail. Notified by service manager--[xxx] that Honda engineering was contacted but they had no fix for this problem. American Honda was contacted but was also of no help. We bought this car for my young daughter who is now driving a vehicle with a clear safety issue. Can you help? information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6).
2014 Honda crv was delivered with 233 miles on odometer. Within 6 miles of leaving the dealership the tire pressure monitoring (tpm) light had come on indicating one or more of the tires was low on air. Our salesperson had already warned us about this during the walk through at the dealership telling us there is no need for us to pull over because more than likely there is no problem. Being an informed consumer we were already aware that Honda has a serious problem with their tpm system on the 2014 model. It simple does not work. It cries wolf and can not be trusted. After resetting the light it will continually return and have to be reset within 50 miles or less of in town driving. Alternately we reset it before a 240 miles round trip hwy drive and the tpm light did not come on during the entire hwy trip. The purpose of the government mandating tpm in all new cars was two fold. First for fuel economy, second for safety. Since the tpm light provides false alarms every week, it does not accomplish either goal. We have had no formal response from Honda acknowledging there is a problem or that they are working on a fix. . Read more...
Low pressure light keeps coming on every 300-600 miles even though tire pressure is fine light came on at following intervals 600 miles , about 11/1/13, took to dealer, all tire pressure ok (over 30 psi, usually 32 psi) 1200 miles, about 11/15/13, took to dealer, all tire pressure ok 1800 miles, on 12/12/13, took to discount tire, all tire pressure ok 2657 miles 12/28/13, took to discount tire, all tire pressure ok 3403 miles 1/16/14,took to discount tire, all tire pressure ok 4021 miles 1/27/14, manually checked tires, all pressure over 30 psi eventually people will simply start ignoring this light. Contacted Honda without resolution, "they state that they are working the issue", closed my case. Common issue among 2014 Cr-v owners if one checks forums.
The contact owns a 2014 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the tpms was causing the tire pressure warning light to illuminate recurringly. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer, who made an adjustment to the tpms but did not remedy the issue. The contact called the manufacturer and the manufacturer stated they would look into it. The failure mileage was 3,000.
2014 Honda Cr-v. Consumer writes in regards to a defective tire pressure monitoring system. The consumer stated after driving off the lot, with his new vehicle, the tpms indicator came on. He returned to the dealer where the system was reset. However, the next day, the light illuminated again. After several trips back and forth to the dealer to fix the problem (to no avail), he was informed the condition was a known defect in some models and Honda engineers were aware of it. Honda informed the consumer, they were diligently working on the problem. Sometime in March, the consumer received a call from Honda, advising him the problem was identified and he should return the vehicle to the dealer for a software download. However, the fix did not work.
Our tire pressure warning light has been on since we purchased (sept 2013) the vehicle. It came on as we left the dealer ship. We have had it in the Honda dealerships service dept 3 times in oakland and each time they reset it and tell us "Honda is aware of the issue" and it is a "software issue" that is being addressed. We were told we would get a recall notice after the first of this year (2014). Honda is not disclosing the safety issue of a product they have labeled as a safety feature. The internet shows pages of the same issue and complaint. Honda needs to make this a higher priority or law suits will be next. We are currently waiting still, not feeling so safe.
The tpms (tire pressure monitoring system) light illuminates when I have my cell phone plugged into the car charger. It stays on until I unplug the phone from the charger. This is ongoing and not just a one time incident. The car has been checked by a mechanic and the tpms system is operational with no problem.

2007 Honda crv. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle wheels installed without tpms sensors causing tire pressure monitoring system inoperable and request an investigation. The consumer believed the retailer knowingly and willingly made the tpms inoperative, by installing wheels without tpms even after the company had been advised that such action would violate the make inoperative prohibition of 49 usc 30122.

The service department at joyce Honda in denville, NJ routinely overinflates their customers's tires by at least 5 lbs in winter. They tell me that they do that so that they're not getting lots of calls from customers when their tpms light goes off. I can't see how that practice benefits anyone but them by saving them from having to explain that, if the light is on, you need to check your tire pressure.

Tire pressure monitoring system has malfunctioned on and off for some 10000 miles. The warning light comes on when traveling and does not go off until tires cool down. The dealer has tried many times to find the problem but unable to correct the situation. They have failed to replace any of the sensors. Not sure if this is a computer problem that also controls other systems.
Bought a brand new 2009 Cr-v ex and had issues with tpms light coming on randomly while driving. Brought the car back to the dealer a couple of times and had tpms sensors replaced and tpms box. Still the problem persists and been using my car for almost 3 years now waiting for Honda to fix the car. There were no tsbs for it and no fix for it. I was told by a representative in a dealer not to worry as I am not alone having this issue.
The contact owns a 2007 Honda Cr-v. The contact stated that the tire pressure monitoring system light illuminates intermittently. The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the failure. There were no recalls on the vehicle. The current mileage was 3,125 and failure mileage was 1,000. Updated 11/26/07.
Tire pressure monitoring light (system fault) keeps coming on. First incident was at about 300 miles and went away after vehicle reached a stop. 2nd was at 350 miles and again went off when vehicle was stopped. 3rd was at 750 miles and stayed on for about 3 miles (vehicle did not stop). 4th was at790 miles and again went off after 3 miles. Tire pressure was checked by owner and found to be okay at the 1st and 3rd times. Vehicle was checked twice by dealer (after the 2nd and 4th incidents). The first visit the dealer reset the tire pressure. The 2nd visit 2 tires were changed out to get new sensors. The light came on after about 50 miles and now does not reset upon vehicle stoppage or after turning the vehicle on and off.
