1 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2008 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/22/2017

The airbag sensor will not go off of the dashboard and when my husband ran the scan on my car, nothing came up. This has been going on for some time now and in October I was in a front end accident and the airbags did not go off, but the icon is still on, on my dash. The icon is on at all times but there are days when it doesn't come on at all.

Failure Date: 08/27/2015

Mansfield motor group of mansfield , ohio replaced a srs unit on my Honda that was done so that Honda corp. Could collect information off of this unit . When they brought this unit on line , there was was a passenger seat air bag / sensor alert and they wasn't able to clear this indication . They did some trouble shooting procedures to no avail . I was informed of this problem and was told that the sensor replacement would cost me app. $ 1000. . 00 , in which I refused and told them to put back the old unit that had no issues concerning the that or any other sensor . This recall # 15-026 , after calling Honda , was to gain information from an srs recall #15-013 that has never been installed , or this is what I was led to believe , which mmg Honda told me that Honda had not figured out the problem as yet . I recieved the recall letter from Honda in March of 2015 for the NHTSA recall 15v -045 ---- service bulletin # 15-013 .

5 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/16/2015

On February 14, 2015, I brought my Honda Odyssey in to a dealer for an airbag recall. Two days after I got it fixed my srs light came on when in drive and stayed on. I called and made a diagnostic appointment concerning the light. They informed me that the ods unit had failed and that it was listed as a recall as well. I was informed that I would be all set. However when I went to have it fixed I was told it would cost me $146. 48. I then brought the part and had it installed by a Honda dealership worker. After the repair the light did not off. On April 30, 2016 I brought my car back for the final recall notice and to find out why the light had not gone off. This time they said it was the sensor. They said it was not included in the recall and I would have to pay for it out of pocket. My problem is that my srs light was not on before they messed with the airbags in connection with the recall. If they misdiagnosed my car and on top of that already made me pay $146. 48 for a new opds unit (which at first they said was included in the recall) why should I be responsible for the problem? they caused the problem when the fixed the ¿recall¿. I am very unhappy and I don¿t feel safe. With this light being on I feel as though my airbag can deploy at any time, putting my life in jeopardy. I am also a teacher and use my van to transport children from time to time. My safety and the safety of the children are my number one priority. So now I am asking that my repairs be made at no cost to me, because this all started with a recall.

14 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2000 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/25/2009

2000 Honda Odyssey ex. On 5/25/09 I was rear ended by a vehicle going approximately 125mph; I was traveling 45 mph. Once hit, I had no control of the car, it jumped the curb, went into the woods while still moving. The front of my van then hit a tree. There was substantial front end damage. None of the air bags deployed. I don't know if the seat belt locked properly either. When the front was hit, battery and air filter area was bent upwards towards the dash and bumper came off, along with major wheel damage/bending along with hood damage. Inside the van under steering wheel the panel underneath bent inside, front panel near radio fell off with wires hanging. That is how hard I was hit from the front with the tree, along with the major frontal damage. My car was totaled. I had broken ribs, bruised lungs, deep abdominal bleeding that caused very deep red bruising on my stomach, pelvic region, and vaginal area along with swelling, fractured bone in right foot, swelling on left foot, bruising and knotting on legs, knees, deep gash in right side, cut on left foot, etc. Also knot on my head and a closed head injury including speech problems, and back and neck injuries/pain. I am still recovering from them 12 weeks later and going through physical therapy. Some bruising/knotting on my leg still not healed. I have seen many Honda accords have air bag deployment problems with sensors and seat belt sensors not working, perhaps this is the same thing that occurred with my Odyssey. I have digital pictures I can send to you if needed.

15 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/15/2007

While parking at daycare, turn into parking spot, brakes fail. Brakes are pumped to the floor 5 times before hitting a large boulder causing major damage to suspension and frame. Also, airbags did not deploy, yet seatbelt locked in place. Dealer is doing repair since there is potential safety issue with the brakes. However after 55 days, still waiting for return of vehicle. Turns out computer regulating airbags failed as well. 2 defects that if the brakes had failed just 3 minutes sooner would no doubt have been a fatal accident on an interstate highway.

16 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/05/2007

The air bag warning light stays on. The van was purchased new in November 2004 and has never been in an accident. Given that the airbags have been manufactured for over 20 years they should not fail or indicated failure after 2. 5 years.

17 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2003 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/28/2007

1 month ago, I took my friend to atlanta (about a 5 hr. Trip) and the trip went smoothly until I dropped off my friend back in town. As soon as she left the car, I turned on the ignition, and the srs light stayed on . I took the car to the dealership to have it fixed. I don't know why my car acts this strange, , a week later after dealership fixed the problem, , the srs light came on again. So far , 3 times fixed. Each time they told me a different diagnostic code for 3 different parts that I should have replaced. So far, I've replaced the driver's side airbag, the opds unit, and the srs harness. Yesteday, when my husband drove to store , srs light came back again(exactly one week after 3rd time repaired) but this morning it was off. We made an appointmemt with dealership next Tuesday for 4th time attemp.

While driving 50 mph the contact lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. While attempting to gain control of the steering the vehicle moved from the left to the right. The contact called the police, and was not given a police report. The mechanic replaced the tires, and stated that the failure was due to the tires. The contact advised the mechanic of the steering recall ,and he denied that it was related. None of the air bags in the vehicle deployed at the time of the collision. Recall #05v344000 was related to the air bags: frontal:sensor/control module. The drivers side door was difficult to close unless pressure was applied. The weather was not a factor. The current and failure mileage was 36,200.

19 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 02/05/2007

Purchased a new 2006 Honda Odyssey ex-l with res and nav in July 2006 in new jersey (planet Honda). Twice I noticed on very cold mornings (outside temperature was around 10 degrees fahrenheit at 9:30 am) that after starting the engine the air-bag indicator light came on and would not go away. After driving around for 10 minutes (with the air bag indicator light still on) I switched off the engine and restarted the engine after 5 minutes. This time the air-bag indicator light did not stay on. I brought this problem to the dealers attention. They had a look and concluded that the side impact sensor was malfunctioning (part number 77970-shj-b81). They have ordered two numbers ??? how can this be ? this is a brand new minivan with only 5000 miles on it and no collisions not even the least minor ones what so ever. Seems there are some gaps and quality control issues in Honda's manufacturing process now that this minivan is entirely being built in USA. I am just plain lucky that the air-bag (whether side or frontal, I don't know) did not inflate in my face.

21 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 08/31/2005

At 42k miles the srs light illuminated, dealer reset and said no code was activated. 1 week later srs light is back on and dealer says dtc code is 7-2 (control unit failure) and it will be $350 to replace. My concern is that this does not seem to be an uncommon event in recent Honda products and I think that Honda should cover this under extended warranty as this is certainly a safety related item.

22 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/12/2005

Upon purchasing, the vehicle owner noticed that the air bag light was on, and the dealer said don't worry they will fix it. They repaired it about a week after purchase. The dealership replaced the srs control unit, cleared the code, and the srs light went out. The. Owner had to pay for this repair. The owner noticed a recall on the 2005 model, but the owner didn't have the recall number, but the recall dealt with the same problem. The owner stated there were lots of complaints about air bags on NHTSA web site.

23 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 06/01/2005

24 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/15/2005

Shortly after 3 years since the purchase of a new Honda Odyssey ex-l, the srs indicator was turned on all the time. We brought the minivan to the dealer in fremont and the dealer said there are two common causes (after spending $130 investigation fee): defect in the srs control module that controls whether the airbags shall be released in case of an accident, or low battery output. Following the recommendation from the dealer we have the batter replaced ($85). The dealer then reset the srs indicator. Within a week the srs indication is now on again all the time. We brought the minivan back to the dealer and they asked us to have the srs module replaced for additional ~$500. Honda provides lifetime warrantee on safety belt, but not the srs system that controls the airbag. We bought this minivan brand new and it has never been involved in any accident. We have 2 young children so safety was our primary reason to buy the Honday Odyssey - well now it seems the srs/airbag of this minivan is really troublesome. It seems this srs module problem is common for late Honday accord and Odyssey from the user group discussion - while this is a serious safety feature, Honda refuses to provide the extended warrantee as the case for safety belt. My 3-yr old Odyssey is back to the dealer again today for this srs thing.

25 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/01/2005

The contact stated the air bag sensor light stayed on. She received a NHTSA recall 05v344000 concerning the air bag sensor. The dealership replaced the air bag sensor, but the light was still on. Updated 12/11/2005. A hole in the under side of the bumper allowed small rocks and peddles in the bumper. The weather stripping on the rear doors is pulling away and bending outward.

26 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/06/2004

The air bag light stayed on, the consumer was concerned that the air bags will not deploy in an accident. The dealer stated cell phone interference disabled the air bag sensor. Please provide additional information.

27 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Air bag sensor light stayed on. The consumer is concerned that air bag will not deploy upon impact. The air bag light was intermittent, stayed on, and eventually on full-time. The light was reset five times and the sensor was replaced two times.

30 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/10/2003

Vehicle has been to dealership on sept. 10, 2003// oct. 2, 2003// Nov. 3, 2003// and July 26, 2004 with complaint about srs light coming on and staying on. Dealer has indicated everything from electrical interference to purse setting it off on passenger seat. Replaced opds unit on Nov. 3, 2003 visit. However problem is not fixed and as of today--sept. 21, 2004 light is back on. Originally dealer stated unsure if airbag is operational during time light is on. Internet discussions seem to indicate airbag is dysfunctional during time light is on. . . Which totally voids purpose of safety in an accident! very frustrated and now even more scared of severe injury or death in an accident! please make Honda address and fix this issue--when I read all of the other vehicles which also are reporting srs failures, it is obvious there is a severe liability that exists. I don't want to be--nor do I want my children to be--unfortunate statistics that ultimately cause Honda to take notice!!!!.

31 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/15/2003

While driving at any speed air bag sensor light would come on intermittently.

32 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 04/09/2003

Supplemental restraint system, is not operating properly. I perceive this as a safety issue.

33 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 1996 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 01/14/2003

Srs light came on and stayed on at 73522 mi. Honda dealer checked all connections and wiring, also tried re-programming-that did not work. Dealer said that air bags are inoperative, and that a new srs control unit is needed - at cost of over $700. The cost is prohibitive for us. Dealer says they have replaced numerous srs control units on Odysseys. This indicates a manufacturing defect rendering key safety system inoperative. The dealer indicated that Honda has not issued a recall and does not accept responsibility for failure of key safety component during normal use--the stated reason is that "you still have your safety belts. " I believe that the srs control unit should not have failed within normal life of the vehicle, the owner's manual says that it only needs to be checked every 10 years.

34 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 2002 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 12/01/2002

Srs sensor light flashes intermittently which causes air bags to be inoperative.

35 Front Air Bag Sensor Control problem of the 1996 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 07/23/2002

July 2002, I took my Odyssey to a Honda dealer because I was having several electrical problems: 1. My srs light came on and wouldn't go off. 2. My abs light had also begun to go on and off. 3. My power locks would lock uncontrollably and drain battery. I asked them to take a look. After $160 diagnostic charge, I was told the following: code 8-3 present on srs. Cleared code and test drove. Light remained off for drive. Suggest replacing airbag if light comes on again. Probably a sensor problem. Cost $748 code 44 present on abs. Right rear wheel speed sensor is faulty. Suggest replacing sensor. Cost $283 electronic locks need new lock unit. Cost $256 I was shocked that repairs would cost another $1300. After discussing these problems with the dealer and being told the issues were probably all sensor malfunctions, I opted not to pay for repairs. Just after driving off, my srs and abs lights came back on and have remained on ever since. Now, after seeing the numerous complaints by other Odyssey owners and learning that the airbags may actually not work, I am reporting my experience as well. . . I just bought a chevy.
