1 Power Assist Brake problem of the 2006 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 10/28/2007

Brakes make severe grinding sound and steering wheel shakes violently when braking hard. Also had a problem coming down a very steep hill where the brakes shook the car so badly we had to pull over to side of road. Honda has said this is normal. Replaced brake pads once, but says it will not again. Have had the brakes checked several other times by other mechanics and they cannot pinpoint the problem.

2 Power Assist Brake problem of the 2007 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/17/2007

We currently have around 7,000 miles on a 2007 and there has been an ongoing issue with the Odyssey's braking system. The brakes have a very soft feel and need to be depressed at least 3/4 of the way for the brakes to feel like they are biting. The brakes have always had a relatively soft feeling to them and it has caused some dicey situations where you need to attempt to swerve around another vehicle since there is a definite lack of confidence when you need to induce a panic stop. Occasionally the brakes will have a little chatter to them which you can feel in the brake pedal. We haven't pegged this directly to the load of the vehicle or hot brakes/brake pads, but we are currently in the process of getting this issue looked into with our dealer.

6 Power Assist Brake problem of the 2005 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 05/10/2005

After much research on minivan safety, we purchased a 2005 Honda oddysey in January of 2005. Within months, we noticed a grinding noise when braking hard or coming to a quick stop. Unfortunately, this comes and goes and has not been able to be duplicated for the service department. We have still complained about this and still nothing has been done to attempt to try and correct the problem. We are currently looking at another brand (our second choice of minivan) which should have been our first choice.

7 Power Assist Brake problem of the 2004 Honda Odyssey

Failure Date: 09/25/2004

While applying pressure on the brake pedal to reduce the speed because the traffic was slowing down vehicle in front of me stopped abruptly. I applied more and more pressure on the brakes, and nothing happened. Vehicle was not stopping any faster. I did not pump the brakes since Odyssey has abs and they did not kick in though I applied a lot of pressure on the brakes. I collided with the vehicle in front of me and airbags did not deploy. Prior to this incident I was able to stop the car faster.
