Tailgate Hinge Problems of Honda Odyssey

The tailgate struts that support the tailgate (back) door of the minivan failed (collapsed) when the automatic door was opening. There is a recall on this very problem, make, model and year: Honda Odyssey 2009, however, my VIN was not included in the recall. Honda inc confirms that they are receiving reports like this one from other people whose cars were not made part of the recall.

Tailgate struts fail to hold up the tailgate - 2008 Honda Odyssey ex. Door is very heavy, very hard to lift up and could easily hit your head/body if not manually holding up carefully.

2008 Honda Odyssey. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle tailgate struts issues. The consumer stated the tailgate struts broke and lost their gas due to leakage. The consumer stated a recall was issued for vehicles with power tailgates. He believed even the vans without power tailgates, should be recalled.

The rear tailgate struts failed to hold the tailgate open while I was taking groceries out of the car. The door hit the back of my neck but did not cause an injury requiring medical attention.

Please excuse my safety complaint just sent earlier. I included my wrong email address. Rear tail gate strut failure when I was unloading groceries out of the rear trunk with the rear tailgate open, the struts failed and the tailgate hit the back side of my head/neck, but did not require medical attention.

Tailgate struts stopped working. Tailgate will not stay in upright position. There is a recall on the 2008-2009 models with power tailgate lift (NHTSA action number pe11034) but not on 2007 models with manual lift.

Truck tailgate holder failed and hit driver on the back. It slammed closed and would not stay open.

Rear tailgate struts fail on 2007 Honda Odyssey, causing tailgate to suddenly crash down. Children were in the vicinity and could have been killed. I took the car to a Honda dealer, and the dealer said it is a common problem. There are also many instances of this problem mentioned on various internet sites. The 2005 Odyssey has been recalled for a similar problem. If someone has not been killed already, someone will be killed if this issue is not soon addressed on a large scale.
