We own a 2009 Honda Odyssey that recently experienced failed gas struts in the hatch. As a result, my wife was struck in the head injuring her. Honda agreed to repair even though it is out of the 36k miles warranty. There is a recall for the 2009 Odyssey for the exact same failure mode, but only for the motorized hatch. (ours is not motorized). I would like you to look into the possibility of having Honda increase the scope of the recall to include non-motorized hatches. The dealer took possession of the gas struts from the hatch as they indicated Honda of America demanded the parts for their own research. I was not able to hold onto them. Besides the obvious injury my wife incurred, my young toddler twins were also at risk if they happened to be near the hatch and it collapsed.

Wind noise across the windshield is significant and also air leak on driver side window; dealer put in new door seal, but this did not help. They said they know of the complaints and had no fix for it. In Dec of 2012, one year after I first started to complain, then contacted corporate Honda directly, the dealer was able to fix my air leak at my ear. Now I can hear all the air noise around the windshield and sun roof. They say there no fix for this. At speeds of 40 mph and above it is aggravating. We have consistently complained to the dealer about this at every visit. This is not a car to buy for anything but to get your kids around town.

New 2011 Honda Odyssey touring model had a snowflake like crack the size of a half-dollar in passenger side top corner of windshield. Crack was in the center of the glass and could not be felt from the inside or outside. Windshield was replaced by Honda dealer two times and each time the windshield starts to crack after a few days of driving. Each time the installation was performed by a different vendor. Local Honda dealer has come into contact with three similar issues with the 2011 model. The latest crack found is about 8 inches long over the passenger side about 12 inches from the top of the windshield.

Front engine mount is broken on Honda Odyssey. There seems to be a lot of owners of Honda Odyssey that report this problem when I serached the interent. I would like dot to research this issue as experts in this field and determine if there is sufficent number of cases to open a case on this issue. I am getting this work done in the next few weeks. This is not a mechanical part and should not be broken or worn out.

While traveling on the highway, a rock hit my a/c condenser. A replacement condenser costs $700-1,000. Please ask Honda to invent some sort of condenser guard to protect it from road debris. My father had same problem with his 2006 Honda Odyssey.

2002 Honda Odyssey took to dealership for recall on sbs system only to be told by dealer ship all of my engine mounts are broken and need to be replaced . I have had a problem with going into gear . After reading several a forums on Honda I see this is a national problem . Honda should be made to have a recall on motor mounts . It's truly amazing that the van would go into the shop for a unrelated recall and they knew to check mounts . Do they already know engine mounts are a huge problem with Honda?.

The back hatch on my 2009 Honda Odyssey slams shut and will not hold. The hatch slams with incredible force and if any of my 3 kids are in the vicinity it could cause serious injury. A vehicle less than 2 years old should not have this type of issue. I have a full front to back warranty and apparently it does not cover the back hatch.
Honda Odyssey 2010 grab bar caused toddler to break leg. Two year old was in her car seat behind the driver's seat. She put her foot on top of the grab bar behind the seat, her shoe (size 7 1/5) caught, she pulled and the force broke her leg. This happened in the time it took me to open the door and get into the car. I think that if the grab bar was shaped differently (thicker bar part and narrower hole ) that this would not have happened.

The sliding doors to our 2010 Honda Odyssey have failed to close. The problem is that the roller that they run on brakes and causes the door not to close. It will open but not close. This has happened to us three times and it was today towed to the dealer for the second time. The safety issue is that this can happen anyplace such as a stop on the shoulder of a major highway to switch drivers. When the door does not close the car will not allow the transmission to get out of park into gear. There we are stuck on a major highway and not able to move. If we get out of the car we can get hit by a car. It is a very dangerous situation and needs you immediate attention.
The contact owns a 2005 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for repair for recall 10v055000 (structure: body: hatch-back lift-gate support) in June 2010. On November 6, 2010, the contact opened the lift gate which fell on her. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the strut was replaced. The contact stated that the dealer replaced the part with the same defective material. The contact called the manufacturer who offered to sell the contact a one year warranty on the part. The VIN was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000 and the current mileage was approximately 110,000.

Rear lift gate struts fail without notice. At this point, the rear lift gate is extremely heavy and dangerous to ones safety. This is the second time this issue has occurred on this vehicle. Honda keeps replacing the struts with the same part number that continues to fail. Same repair was completed on this vehicle eighteen months ago. I requested a better stronger or beefier replacement strut, but since my vehicle is under extended warranty they keep replacing with the same part number. I have four small kids and if it were to fail with one of them standing under the lift gate it could be a very dangerous situation.
2003 Honda Odyssey - neither front door will stay open, they slam shut. When we open either or both doors, they will not stay open for you to get in or out. They slam shut on legs, body, etc. Have hurt my legs several times. What is the problem? it has not only happened on one occasion, but all the time. Also, both sliding doors slam open, make loud noise. Before, they closed quieter.

When I turn or go straight, with and without brakes on, at a slow speed, I hear a loud horn-like sound. Seems to be coming from front. I only have about 21,000 miles and bought it new. This problem has been happening most of the time we've owned it (almost 3 years). Dealer can't make the problem happen. I even left it overnight. It usually happens when I leave home. I make short trips to school and store. It is sporadic. I heard another Odyssey with the same noise pulling into a parking spot the other day. Is this common? it is annoying and embarrassing. It can be quite loud. Since I've had the recall done, it's not as frequent.
2006 Honda Odyssey excessive vibration from engine when at idle and especially when eco mode engaged or during slow acceleration. Honda dealer states the cause to be a broken motor mount which is a special design and costs over $500 - $600. The van has only 80000 miles but that puts it past warranty. See Honda service bulletin TSB 06-083 for a more detailed report from Honda. The reason I bring this to you is the many web sight blogs with similar issues and Honda's unwillingness to help with costs and or replacements. This could become a serious safety issue if someone can't afford to replace them and if the mounts design is at fault, simple replacement will only result in future failures. If this issue is allowed to persist for too long the other mounts begin to fail and the motor dropping out becomes a real possibility. This should be a recall by Honda and a redesign of the mount should be investigated.

2007 Honda Odyssey van. We noticed two small stains on the carpet in the rear storage area, where the 3rd row seats can be stored. We tried to clean the carpet with resolve, but that made the stains bigger. When we vacuumed the carpet, we found an oily residue with the consistency of lithium grease in the vacuum attachment. We removed the rear seats and folded the carpeting back. There's a gray panel of soundproofing or something else at the bottom of the cargo area, and that panel is disintegrating, leaving behind a tarry residue. The tarry residue is what reached up through the carpet to cause the stain. I don't know why the panel itself is disintegrating. We purchased the car used from a dealer in April 2010, and first noticed the problem in July 2010.
We were informed that our 2005 Honda had a damaged/broken rear engine mount. Additionally, we were told by the Honda service writer that this if from normal driving wear and tear, such as shifting from reverse to drive, acceleration and the transmission shifting. It certainly seems af if Honda terribly under engineered this part. There activities are part of normal driving. Our van has 62,xxx miles on it and used mostly for suburban driving, and not exceeding the recommended driving conditions from Honda. The dealer wants to charge $850 for the one mount. Clearly Honda should recognize the issue and replace these items, at their expense, for defective parts.
Report of safety hazard- on my first drive after purchasing my 2008 Honda Odyssey I was on an interstate and the sun was at an angle which illuminated the light colored trim of the dash panel to the left of the steering wheel. This light colored panel produced a reflection in the shape of the panel which covered my left rearview mirror such that passing vehicles were obscured . I could not depend upon the drivers side mirror due to this. It recurred so often I had to paint the dash trim black on that panel which houses the automatic door switches.

While driving in heavy raining conditions or flow of water pool, on roadway or hwy, vehicle wants to shut off displaying no charging, like I have no power for a few seconds. Twice this occurred on hwy speed 70+ or 25-30 +, on roadway with heavy rain and flow of water pool splash during turn vehicle shut off and power up within approximately 3-5 seconds. I was able to move over to the off road medium and regain engine power. This has happen numerous times in the course of 2 yrs. Bringing vehicle to Honda dealership which they cant repeat complaint even with hosing engine belt with water, though the tech stated many customers have reported this during raining conditions. Note no power steering due to this event. Ret nypd.
My niece, age 5, reached for her seatbelt as the door was closing and her hand was crushed between the door and the vehicle. There are sensors on the front side of the door, but it seems that there are no sensors on the back side of the door (where the seatbelt is located).
Interior of vehicle compartment leaves passengers (four) leaving feeling weak, woozy, unable to stay alert, feeling as if we are going to pass out during vehilce operation. Windows must be rolled down for fresh oxygen. Vehicle under warranty taken to local lynnwood washington Honda dealer for inspection, repair. Requested maintenance director contact national and International Honda maintenance supervisory personnel for advice on vehicle equipment to check, repair, replace, correct or fix. Initially, Honda dealer has advised us, he has no idea why there is gas leak, carbon monoxide leak or other products leaking into compartment. Honda tsbs and national highway safety administration website reflects multiple other cases of similar reports. We fully expect our local Honda dealership to address our concerns and appropriately take remediative steps to fix, repair vehicle to our satisfaction. Vehicle is currently unsafe to drive with this problem.
We have a 2001 Honda Odyssey lx. The power sliding door on the passenger side suddenly quit working and will no longer close properly. The only way we have been able to continue driving the car without the incessant alarm is to shut off the power sliding door function and try to keep it shut. There are several potentially big problems with this. Number one - the kids cannot open the door manually, it is too heavy for them. The only option they have to exit the car is on the traffic side of the vehicle. The door will suddenly become ajar when we are driving, even with the locks closed, which is also a huge safety factor. I have tried to get this problem fixed professionally numerous times and I cannot get a satisfactory answer to what the problem is. I cannot sell this car in good conscience with an issue like this.
Driver side passenger electric sliding door will not completely close without forcing it from the outside with a heavy nudge.
The sliding doors of our Honda Odyssey minivan don't (always) open when they are unlocked. They stick. This prevents passengers from getting out of the van in a timely manner in an emergency. In particular it prevents rescue workers from freeing anyone trapped inside in an accident.
We have a 2004 Honda Odyssey and the driver's side sliding door will not securely close. It closes most of the way then, instead of latching, stays just unlatched and keeps the warning going off. I hear this is a common Honda problem. I am concerned because my has to turn off the electric doors in order to drive the vehicle (even after bumping the door closed) and that (1) negates the warning feature and (2) makes the vehicle unsafe in my opinion because the doors do not function properly.
Drivers side passenger door would not close, it would come very close to closing and then would retreat backwards as if something was in its way, though nothing was. I was able to manually close the door. The same day this occurred, my husband checked the car and tried taking out the fuses to see if we could reset the doors "memory'. The door would then close, no door light was lit on the dash, nor was there a beeping noise which indicates door is open. The door did appear slightly ajar though. My husband drove the car down the road, thankfully this time without my kids in the car, and the drivers side passenger door opened by itself on 3 occasions before returning home, only a couple of miles. We have an appt in the morning at a Honda dealer to fix the problem. After doing some research on line, other people report the same thing happening to their Honda Odyssey minivan as well.
The contact owns a 2004 Honda Odyssey. The contact stated that the driver's side sliding door opens while the vehicle is being driven. The most recent failure occurred while driving 15 mph. The door can be opened both automatically or manually. He took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the sensor in the motor assembly was not receiving a signal that indicates the vehicle is being driven. This causes the door to become ajar. The dealer feels that the manufacturer should be responsible for the repairs, but the manufacturer refuses to repair the vehicle for free. The vehicle has not yet been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 76,500.
My Honda Odyssey passenger sliding door glitches and now it doesn't
even work I've been searching online for help and I've noticed everyone who has a problem with the sliding door it's always the passenger side. It's year 2000 and I believe it's a problem with manufacturing.

The power sliding door on our Honda Odyssey stopped working. It is extrememly difficult to open and close and our children can not exit the vehicle safely.
When using the automatic sliding door on my 2008 Odyssey, the door's sensor failed to auto-reverse when my 2 1/2 year old daughter reached her hand towards the door of the van from the inside. Not only were her fingers and upper hand hit by the closing door, but the door failed to open and remained shut on her hand until I manually opened it. This resulted in an obvious injury to her hand and a trip to the emergency room. X-rays did not reveal a break, but she will have to be re-checked with an orthopedic, as it may have damaged the growth plate in her finger. The dealership where the car was purchased checked the sensor and stated that there is no obvious defect.
