I copied this from someone posting, since it is exactly the problem I am experiencing and more. the engine will just rev higher and higher over 4k revs. I cannot even drive the 25-mile speed limit when this occurs. I have confirmed that the transmission settings are in the standard drive mode during these events. I also informed them that the auto high beam feature does not work properly. the remote control connect doesn't work. Side sensors work intermitently. It accelerates when releasing the gas pedal but the SUV doesn't pick up speed. It makes loud accelerating noise and slows down instead of going faster. Heater makes pitching noise. These happened city streets and highways. It's not just one time occurance. My car has only 3100 miles.

I purchased a 99 Honda Passport from Mazda of knoxville located in knoxville TN. The vehicle had 49000 mi. 3 days later it started making noise in the engine, and also the fuel gauge stopped working as well as the air conditioner. I called them back, they told me to bring it back to them. They kept it a week and a half. I picked it up and brought it home. They claimed to have done 3700 dollars worth of work to it to fix it. I returned home and 2 days later and had the oil changed, the people changing my oil asked me if the vehicle had been under water before, I said I didn? know. When I had the oil changed it started making noises again. I called them back and they said the noise was nothing to worry about, it is normal so this time they offered no help. Said it was my problem. I continued to drive the vehicle and now not only is it making noise but it isn?t running right. It will not idle sometimes and other times it will idle at 4000 rpm to the point it sounds like it is going to explode. It has died on me a number of times in busy intersections and is only getting worse.
