1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2018 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 07/01/2019

6/13 5:10 pm on I-95 n 30 minutes south of fredericksburg, va was going 78 mph when all of the sudden blind spot sensor error appeared on dash and within 10 seconds transmission error - see owners manual - get somewhere safe appeared on the dash. The 2018 Honda Pilot elite immediately switched into neutral and went from 78 mph to 60 mph in 10 seconds. It was a total failure of the transmission. It had to be replaced. It took them a week to put in the remanufactured transmission and since that time, the following has happened: 7/1 night time about 8 pm was stopped at a stop sign when I went to go it started then stuttered - it seem like it trying to find the gear then finally seem like it went into third gear it did the same thing on the way home in a different area. 7/2 on the way to dealer was making a right turn -slow down to make the turn, and while making the turn I hit the gas and it stuttered again 7/2 in virginia after fredericksburg and before manassas on 95 n. I turned off an exit and started to do a u-turn. . . I came to a stop to wait on traffic and when I started up again, it started and then stuttered and then went 7/3 at about 1030 pm . . . . . . . . 13106 was going about 10-15 mph push the accelerator down and the engine just revved and didn't go so I hit the brakes so that I would stop at the light as it was yellow at the time 7/4 it stuttered several times. Several times when coasting then hitting the gas it would stutter, sometimes jerk and sometimes make a noise it has been into the dealer 3 times since the replacement transmission and they can't find anything wrong with it. One day I sat at the dealership for over 4 hours and waited on the district rep - he did show up but would not speak to me and would not let me drive the car when he rode in it to see what was going on.

4 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 08/01/2013

While driving around 30-50 miles an hour my vehicle has been making a shuddering noise with a vibration and while this is happening the rpms with move up and down with as the shuddering progresses. It seems as though this is a common problem with the year and make of the vehicle. I have taken it to the dealership to verify that I need to have my torch converter replaced and it will cost around $1700. 00 to fix it. I'm concerned for the safety of my vehicle as it could cause the whole transmission to go out.

5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/17/2012

Transmission made a very loud noise wheels locked up, and trans lost fluid through the drivers side. Upon closer examination I found that the entire transmission case had small cracks and the trans would lock-up as if there was something in the gears like a bolt or pin of sorts if driven even a couple of feet. Complete transmission had to be replaced, contacted dealer no coverage from Honda.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2005 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/01/2012

I was driving the 2005 Honda Pilot about 20 to 30 mph . The time was about 7:15 am. The roads were wet after some misting light rain. I heard a relatively loud noise that startled me. The noise lasted for perhaps 2 seconds. It sounded as if the brakes were inadvertently being applied and grabbing or perhaps something was wrong with the transmission or rear end. I do not remember that the brakes were being applied at the time, but it is possible that they were. I kept driving and was then much more attentive to there possibly being something wrong with the car. About one minute later I heard an almost identical loud sound. I do remember that I was braking at the time, but due to being startle, it is possible that I may not remember such. The vehicle may have decelerated, but to the best of my recollection, I do not believe that the vehicle deceleration was severe. I drove the vehicle to the local Honda dealer. I was told that the mechanic test drove the vehicle and could not repeat the problem and that he could not find anything wrong with the vehicle. Then the service manager talked to me about what possible might have caused the loud noise and he test drove the vehicle with me inside. He directed the vehicle with the left wheels on the pavement and the right wheels on the grass. Then he rapidly applied the brakes. The vehicle made a loud noise and to my memory the noise sounded like the noises I had encountered previously. He said that this noise was from the abs system engaging. I was very please with the attention of the service manager and his customer interaction. Note: the printed paper shop invoice recorded : "customer states it feels like brakes are sticking. Problem is intermittent. " my above incident description provides a more complete description of the incidents.

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2005 Honda Pilot

8 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 06/15/2012

There is a growl/grind/shudder between 30-40 mph specifically at 1,500 rpms. The noise appears to be coming from the transmission or very close to the transmission. This issue is very hard to diagnose, however I already replaced the transmission once and the issue came back. Could I have purchased two faulty Honda transmissions?.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2004 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 05/07/2011

My 2004 Honda Pilot has been making a grinding/shuddering noise. Doesn't do it all the time, but usually when I'm going 35-40 mph. If I accelerate, the noise will stop. Can't duplicate it always, but sounds like something is seriously wrong in the transmission. Many, many other reports online of the exact same problem.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Honda Pilot

Failure Date: 10/18/2010

2011 Honda Pilot, spontaneous star crack in lower center windshield, spontaneous rear hatch and passenger door opening while driving with my young child in the rear passenger seat (with "locked" doors), transmission rattle upon slow acceleration or coast at second and third gears. . . . Honda dealer said call insurance about windshield, something must have "hit" windshield without me knowing it, said "found no abnormal noises" and "cannot duplicate" rattle noise because different people have different driving patterns, said "cannot duplicate" doors opening while driving, dealer did not "fix" any of these safety issues, just told us to pick up the car. . . After research on internet, I believe these to be manufacturer defects. I purchased a brand new vehicle so I did not have to worry about safety or repairs. This is the third Pilot I have had, and the safety issues are very concerning. After the recall on the 2004 Pilot transmission, why have the same issues come up again in 2010? many complaints can easily be found regarding the faulty transmissions and windshields in Honda vehicles. How is it legal for a car manufacturer to continue rolling out vehicles with known safety issues? and they market these vehicles to families with children. How about a class action law suit and shut down these manufacturing facilities? I will never trust Honda again, after 15 years of loyalty and trust that safety should be a core issue.

It happens when lightly accelerating from 1300 rpm to 1500 rpm. Once I had car jerking while starting from the start. Dealer has replaced the egr valve twice already due to the code. It happens more frequently now. I have 77,000 miles and has been serviced regularly by the dealer.
